View Full Version : Most poorly explained resurrection

Which horror character came back from the dead with the most pathetic explanation possible.
Jason I'm sure will be a big contender here. I don't think they even bothered with any explanation for part 4, did they? He just decides well, I've had enough of this mourge I'm going for a stroll.

hmmmm, chucky in child's play 2, they just rebuilt him from the remains, took the burns of and polished the robot inside and put new plastic on and new clothes. No I don't believe the electrocution brought him to life.

Halloween Resurrection That movie was such a terrible film in the series.
Halloween Resurrection was the worst of the worst. But let's face it, all resurrections are bad. Or most of them. Alien 4 was a good idea poorly executed.
In Alien vs. Predator, apparently Lance Henriksen plays the science magnate who apprently starts working in robotics and ends up being the model for the Bishop "artificial person."

the shark from Jaws. the fourth movie was the dumbest but also had the worst tagline, "This time, it's personal." 3 & 4 are just sooooooo blah

Not sure about resurrection but Jason turning into a baby after getting soaked in sewer waste was lame.

Yeah, it was meant to be the final movie (again!) and this time when Jason is finally killed and thus his body turns back to what it was like when he originally drowned in the lake as a boy. I kinda liked that ending.

Yeah, that doesn't even make any sense. They said that the reason they made Lance Henricksen bleed when he was hit over the head at the end of Alien3 was to show that he was telling the truth and that he was the human that designed the Bishop robot. A lot of people say that's not true, but just look at the behind the scenes stuff on the Alien Quadrilogy discs, and it shows that it is. However, Alien vs. Predator is supposed to take place in modern times, right? So they just threw that out the window, I guess.
I know this isn't horror, but I've always been confused about the return of Arkane in Return of the Swamp Thing. I've never seen the movie all the way through, but did they ever say how he came back? It was like they just ignored the first one or something.

I believe officially each shark was supposed to be the offspring of the previous one. Part 3 was out there, but Revenge....I just have no words. The offspring of the shark from part 3 is out for revenge against the Brody family so it follows them to the Bahamas? I don't even know where to begin! Now, I might be able to believe that it followed them if they took a boat and bled over the side the whole trip, but....no, I don't think I could even believe that. Thinking about that movie brings on migraines.
My favorite joke about it was on the Daily Show. John Stewart said something along the lines of "Michael Cain could not attend the Oscars to accept his own award because he was busy making Jaws the Revenge."
Inferno

Someone once said that Michael Cain chooses to do a film based on where it would be shooting. I think the Revenge shows that it must be true.

i have never seen any behind the scenes fotage or interviews with anything to do with Aliens3 but from just watching the movie i thought the Bishop that arives to capture Ripply was an android! cause when he gets hit over the head you can see in a later shot that his ear is all mangled like he was just another robot. any thoughts?

Hmmm, have to watch it again. I'm sure I remember him saying he was human and that he designed bishop. But maybe this was just another Company lie. Don't remember if you see his ear damaged.

Yeah but all that happens in the Aliens movie is in the future. 20 something, I forget. So it makes perfect sense.

Alien 3 was away to far ahead in the future from Aliens for that to even really make sense, unless the guy was over 100 years old or so.

Jason in Jason X. I mean, he went to hell in the end of part 9. How the hell did he come back?

"Jason X" is the last installment in the "F13TH" franchise. Hence, the real sequel to "Jason goes to hell", is "Freddy vs Jason".

I thought it was never official how far in the future Alien3 took place? I'll have to view the behind the scenes stuff again. I know Resurrection was supposed to be like 200 years or so after 3. Or was it after Aliens?
The thing about "Bishop's" ear and blood was supposed to show that he was human. If he was a synthetic human, he wouldn't bleed. Not blood, anyway.

I just hope they don't do the old trick in AvP of he's ancestor of Bishop from Alien 3 and just so happens to look exactly like him.

Castillo - What the heck do you mean by that? I think what you're trying to say is since Jason X takes place in the future and FvJ takes place in the present, then it would go Jason Goes to Hell - FvJ - Jason X?
Oh well. I've only seen a couple of the Friday movies, so I don't really get how he comes back in any of them. But, ah, the memories of playing the video game....

Agreed. Just watched it last night. His ear is almost completely ripped off and yet he shows no signs of discomfort. Clerly he's a more advanced android than Bishop in Aliens, beyond an android none the less.

Hmm. To me he looked like he was in a lot of pain for a few seconds. I believe where they talk about him being human is in the commentary, but it may be in the behind the scenes featurettes. Trust me, it's there. It surprised me as well. Obviously they didn't accomplish what they wanted to since people still thought he was an android.

Just watched the Alien 3 Special Edition. You're right he is human! There's an extra scene of him holding his ear in immense pain. And he actually cries out "I'm not a droid".
Looks like I'm back to feeling pesimistic about AvP again. :(

^Well, just take the original versions of the Alien films as canon, and you'll be okay. I noticed a few things in the Alien Director's Cut that contradicted the common lore of the Alien creatures. Like the idea of when you cocoon someone they eventually melt down and turn into an egg. And the whole "the alien in Alien is a drone" "no, it's a warrior" argument. I'm sure a lot of fanboys got a bit upset with that version.
The weird thing about the Bishop human in Alien3 is that he's called Bishop II or something in the credits and featurettes, and they pronounce it "Bishop Two" not "Bishop the Second".
