At buy.com ( http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=40240608&loc=15475 ) the entire trilogy is available to pre-order for May 25th at only $60...

I'm not going to get it, I'm just going to add ROTK EE to my others, but this seems like a cool idea if you haven't bought the theatrical versions yet and for some reason wanted to have both sets... And it seems like a good deal.

I wouldn't mind having the theatrical versions - It's the only way you appreciate the EE. But think I'll wait to see it discounted less than this.

I'd like a box big enough for all the EE's, but maybe that's what the FOTR EE Platinum Edition book ends are for...

^ I'm creating my own box for the EE's.

Nice! What material would you make it in then?

^ I have a friend who's a printer. He's going to print it up on cardboard that is around the same thickness as the EE boxes so it's durable.

I thought about black, but it wouldn't show the leather book texture I've applied to the cover like the EE's have. Yellow seemed the logical choice seeing as though green, red and blue have been used for the EE releases.

Oh, and I'm a wearer of black too. :D

I realy like the design of it. Its simple in a very good way if you know what i meen. Not too much things on it. Very good!

I'm not too sure about the colour though, but its hard to see without the EE's in it, so you might be right :)

That's the kind of design that hopefully the EE boxset will come in.

I think NL have messed up a bit with the design of the TC boxset, mainly by sticking the 3 individual covers on the front - it just looked a bit cheap IMO.

I think they've also made a mistake by apparently not planning a simultaneous ROTK EE and EE boxset release, as with the TC's.

Thanks all. Once I'm done I'll make the design available to anyone that would like it to make their own box.

Do you work in Freehand or Illustrator? (or something else)

One thing I'm not too keen on with the official package is the subtitle - 'The Motion Picture Trilogy', makes it sound a bit too Star Wars/Trek IMO.

I would like to get all the TC's (we only have TTT now) but I really don't like that packaging....I think I'm better off buying the 3 separately.

I use Photoshop.

Being a trek fan I don't really have a problem with The Motion Picture Trilogy, but having said that I agree that perhaps it could be different. Even something as simple as the Lord of the Rings Collection would suffice.

For my box I just called it "THE EXTENDED EDITION TRILOGY"

i dont know if im the only one but....

i've seen fotr and ttt boxed together at walmart.... nothing special... just a paper band wrapped around the two dvd cases...

also i was at shop ko the other day and the ttt:te widescreen case was black and not red.

So this box set will be in stores around the same time as the ROTK TE?

Unfortunatly, the LotR-Soundtrack-Box uses the EE-Box-Style, in yellow:

This makes it hard to decide what to buy... At only 60, this really tempts me to get the whole set again... Pretty cool...

I havent posted for awhile but i guess this is worth it. For those who live in Canada and want the theatrical box set, go to Rogers Video and pre-order the dvd before the 25th of May. You will get an empty box set to place all 3 of your dvds. And the box set is exactly the same one from the first page.
