never should be thought about being made. just what toilken wrote, that is the only thing that needs to be in movies.

I heard he never finished The Simillarion. And its very confusing with all its references to people, places and races.

If it's not writen by J.R.R Toilken then it is not Lord of the Rings, at least to me anyway.

silmarillion would be an awesome thing to see, but it would be insanely difficult, and not have a real storyline, other than dictated by the one in the book

Yeah, very difficult. But some of the battles there are pretty awsome :)
And as for the sequel. Tolkien never wanted a sequel as far as i know. Then Cristopher would have started it a long time ago.....

If there was a sequel that toilken would have written that would have been awesome and i would have said made it right away but i give a big NO to this other guy.

Actually I think that a good writer should be able to write a movie about The Silmarillion. Take this for example, they could concentrate the story line on the curse of Finwe, or on the Love of Beren and Luthien, obviously it would not be a 3 hour movie... but it could be a magnificent movie.

The Silmarillion would have to be spilt up into at least three movies because of the characters and plots.

Toilken did start to write after the LOTR, there is a webpage floating around here somewhere with the text Im sure if you keep this around long enough someone will post it, I personally didnt like it much.
and i still stand by that i think the Silmarillion would work best as either several animes, or a TV series

I have scans of it. It's called "The New Shadow." It's really not worth reading. It takes place just after Aragorn's death. Main character is Beregond's son. The premise is that children of Gondor are participating in "orc cults" and performing strange rituals. Tolkien wrote 12 pages of it and stopped because it sucked. He chose wisely.

At the end they vaguely wisper that the new "Dark Lord" figure is named Herumir, and is essentially the human leader of the Orc-cults.
Tolkien said that after Sauron's defeat, there would be no more spiritual Dark Lords (there had already been Morgoth and later Sauron), but that human warlords would try to be Dark Lords...they'd never be as bad as Sauron was.
He also said that the Orcs were crushed, never to rise again.
The idea was that humans would be fighting humans.
There are vague notes in the Appendixes that say that there were wars betwen Aragorn's Reunited Kingdom (allied with Rohan) and the Easterlings and Haradrim, but that Aragorn always won without too much trouble.

it would be a big mistake for them to make a sequal
and even if they ever do they would have to have an Enormous
buget to work with so that if could be as good as the other films

It is Tolkein's story of the First Age of Middle Earth. I haven't read it yet myself but I plan to soon.

i know it is hard but when i look it up i cant get and exact amount. There are ones that are the history of middle earth that range from volume 1-11 or something like that and some others but i dont know which all of them are. Because you guys know way more than i do about middle earth and i dont want it to be like that i want to know just as much. I want to know everything there is to know that Tolkien wrote about it.

Start off with LOTR or The Hobbit - that will give you plenty of time to research the other works in the meantime.

Absolutely not. LOTR is about events that happened in a 17 year span, most of it focusing between 7 months (September thru March). Even with three 3 hour movies, they had to omit much of the story to fit the big picture.
Now try to take a 6,000+ year history (more or less) and cram it into one movie. I would give you 8 movies and you still would not tell the whole story. It would be a film-making nightmare. Besides, the Silmarillion is not very widely known so you couldn't just market it as "From the author who brought you LOTR" and expect the public to buy into it.
I think there are some stories that are complete enough that they could possibly be told in one movie (Beren & Luthien; Turin; Tuor & Gondolin) but it would only be taking a small part of a much greater history. The end result would be a disgrace to the work that Tolkien spent 50+ years of his life trying to compile.
