Gorgeous. It's kind of an action / romantic comedy.

Two best I thought were Legend of Drunken Master (aka Drunken Master II) and Project-A, I was recommended these by a huge Jackie Chan fan, he's seen all of Jackie's movies, and these were the two he pointed me at.

agreed. and i also agree with the gorgeous recomendation (but i think andrey new that:) )
also if you didnt know supercop is actually a part of a series:
police story
police story II
police story III (supercop)
supercop II (michelle yeoh returns, jackie doesnt)
police story IV
police story V is in production
police story is the best of those IMO, then supercop.
also a bit of interesting info. there is a movie called twins effect (here its called vampire effect, long explanation why the names were changed) and jacki has a cameo in it. its like buffy the vampire slayer (the movie not the horrible tv show) and now they are making a sequel and jackie has a pretty big part in it, and the fight coreographer of the first is starring it this time, you might of heard of him his name is DONNIE YEN! i guess there is supposed to be an amazing fight between them in it, i cant wait until it comes out. also jackies son is going to be in it too, which will be his first acting performance.

you have said this before, you need to stop letting your friends dictate what you watch and just see it for yourself, the reason jackie chan fans dont like gorgeous usually is because they like all the fights and action, this one actually had more of a plot and less action (although some of chans best is in it IMO) besides it has shi qi in it, thats reason enough to see it.

again Im saying gorgeous simply for the action. the story will never win anything close that remotely makes you think of an award but the action is f'n great.
it has the best fight seen in my opinion that Ive seen so far from jackie (keep in mind I havent seen all his movies) but this and who am I's both ending fights scenes make the movie worth it. so stop hatin gorgeous and behold the brilliance.

i've seen over 40 jackie chan films, more than once. and i have to say gorgeous is in my top 5.
it's true, the fight scenes are awesome, absolutely. especially the duel between jackie and the australian, great fight choreography.

see? Jack knows what hes talking about. just watch gorgeous. you wont be disappointed.
its movies like this that make me miss Jackies earlier works instead of stuff like shanghai knights with wires and whatnot.

yeah, damn, too bad he went to hollywood. i miss old jackie so much. he changed.
OMG, i forgot one of the greatest jackie chan movies ever, it's an older HK film with a great story, awesome fights and it's one of the funniest jackie films ever. it's about the HK mafia, called CANTON GODFATHER aka MIRACLES. you HAVE to see that one!
oh and dont miss DRAGONS FOREVER(cheesy name, i know) aka FEI LONG MENG JIANG
Neverending
04-17-2004, 10:03 PM
Some of the films mentioned above are great. I also would recommend Miracles. It was written and directed by Chan himself. The film was an answer to his critics who claimed he had no range. This film is not the best Jackie Chan movie, but it IS the best work he has directed.
It is based on Frank Capra's Pocketful of Miracles.

they have shown the vampire effect on the action channel a few times it was an ok movie. jackie had two scenes in it. I am going to have to check on some of the movies mentioned here the only bad part is I will probably have to order them off of the internet. because the only place that I know for sure that carries them is suncoast and most of the movies there are atleast $25.00+ a piece. I hate buying anything from there. I have to check best buy I know walmart doesnt have anything like that in store.
City hunter was pretty funny I guess it was a anime but they turned it into a movie
I think the topic has reached a good amount of jackie chan movies how about any good Jet Li movies or even martial arts/action movies? pretty much everything I have gotten out of walmarts 5.50 bin has been good.
Jet li movies
fist of a legend
contract killer
fong sai yuk 2/the legend 2
I liked the one but it seemed to short for some reason
my 5.50 walmart bin purchases:applaud:
cheech and chong's up in smoke
the corruptor
cover-up
eastern condors
full contact
in the line of duty 4
iron monkey 2 ( this is probably the worst one)
jackie chan's first strike
marked for death
on deadly ground
red scorpion
ring of fire
rumble in the bronx
showdown in little tokyo
silent trigger
vampire hunters

Donnie Yen is legend! he was in Jet Li's "HERO" and the fight between him an jet is awesome! he's a great choreographer, he worked on Blade 2 as well. Watch "Tiger Cage 2"! it's a funny movie with good action and awesome swordfights.
btw, City Hunter was an anime. the movie is just hilarious.

i am not a jet li fan at all. people seem to refer to him as the new bruce lee and this bothers me a lot, because he is nowhere as good or as cool. if anyone is the next bruce lee it is mark dacascos, ernie reyes jr., or most likely donnie totally friggin underated yen.
i cant think of many jet li movies because i dont like him very much, his best of course is hero, and once upon a time in china series is pretty good i guess, the second is the best of them though.

mark dacascos (I had to look up him and ernie reyes jr. I am terrible with names.) I don't know I saw him in the crow and cradle to the grave and wasn't too impressed. In my eyes he is more of an actor that a action star but I haven't really seen him in any action movies.
ernie reyes jr. I have seen him in tmnt 2, surf ninjas, rush hour 2, and the rundown but I honestly don't remember him on the screen
donnie yen I like him I have seen him in shanghai knights 2, blade 2, iron monkey 2, In the Line of Duty 4,
I really liked in the line of duty, but hated iron monkey 2 the action was alright though.
jet li I think saying he is the next bruce lee is wrong if you only watch his asian movies I think it might hold some water but not much especially if you watch fist of a legend. but his american movies are not very good I liked the one but after the movie was over I felt there was something missing I don't know what though. kiss of the dragon was crap. never seen romeo must die, cradle 2 the grave was ok but not great

yeah most of him american films were not very good. never seen once upon a time in china the only place I can find it at is suncoast and they want $30.00 for it so I have to look around the internet for it. Fist of a legend was pretty good also

I didnt know that Donnie Yen was a corographer. Never heard that before. He is an amazing fighter! Love to see his fights. They are always great. Does he Corograph them himself?

i agree with all of that, but dont go buy vampire effect thinking its going to be a cool action flick, its not! its like buffy, only i still liked the cheesy plot and over the top jokes.

these are the movies,tv, and video games (onimusha 3 is going to be one of the all time best video games ever made i think) that donnie yen did the fight coreography for. and yes he does coreograph them himself, well he uses a bunch of stunt men and martial artists, and usually they are the same people just as jackie chan does and alot of times they will make the fights up on the spot. but the director will direct the certain elements of the fight that need to move the story a long in the fight. i have heard that this is one of the hardest jobs in the film industry.
Kung Fu Master
Onimusha 3
Twins Effect, The
... aka Vampire Effect, The
Blade II
Princess Blade, The
Highlander: Endgame
Puma
Moonlight Express
Ballistic Kiss
Shangai Affairs
Fist of Fury
Yong Chun
... aka Wing Chun
Iron Monkey
Tiger Cage
Te jing tu long

yes, Donnie Yen is pretty underrated. Jet Li may be an average actor but he's an awesome martial artist and he's a nice person. i like his movies. his best was imo OUATIC and BODYGUARD FROM BEIJING, FIST OF LEGEND...
but i wont take any asian actor/artist to make a comparison with bruce lee. you simply can't do that. he was a martial artist, teacher, philosopher, an actor and he directed as well, wrote scripts, he was an all-rounder and he was a genius of a thinker. sure you know he's the founder of JEET KUNE DO martial arts.
i could never say that someone is "close to" bruce lee in view of his achievement as a person...but as an actor maybe. though he had this awesome powerfull cinematic presence which was simply unique.

I know, Jet li used to be the the arnold schwarzeneger of Hong Kong in action movies. Now, he's just second to Jackie Chan

Yeah, i much more enjoy his Hong kong movies. I have OATIC 1,2,3 (1 is the best), Fist of legend, twin warriors, the legend, bodyguard from bejing, shaolin temple and all his american movies. They are nowhere near the asian ones!
