Okay, if you have not seen this movie go rent it now and dont read any further. If you read any further and then complain about spoilers you sir/madam are an idiot!


I have seen this excellent Spacey film several times but watched it with my gf tonight and it was her first time. Now every time I watch it and the movie ends, I think it is awesome that he killed his cheating gf and the boss he had been torturing finally got him a promotion. Just an awesome ending. But my gf asks "Why doesnt Spacey tell on him?" . Which for some reason the question never crossed my mind. Why does Spacey's character not tell on him and get him a promotion after he had just been tortured by the guy? Was it confirmation that the young Guy was ready for the big league "Mens Club" and by killing the cheating ***** he had proven that? Or was it just his way of thanking Guy for not killing him? Any other thoughts/ideas??

I think had to do with a bit of both of your theories. The guy demonstrated that his loyalties lied with the company and that he putting it above all else.

I think they learned alot about each other and in some odd way earned respect for each other. You know how in some movies the kidnapper actually "grows" on the kidnappee. Guy's sadistic side must have intrigued Spacey since before that Guy was just a spineless lackey. He sees a little bit of his innocent (pre wife death) side in Guy but ultimately teaches Guy the new lessons he had to learn to make it to the top.

I was also thinking that maybe since he sacrificed his gf that he is now dedicated to his job 100% like Spaceys character. After Spacey lost his wife he became a vicious, heartless business man. Now Spacey sees a bit of himself in Guy and is proud of him, in some sick way?
