Might be interesting but IS DEFINETLY trying to rip off Nemo. I posted in one thread movies are bound to copy some other movie in one way or another, its unavoidable, but this is definetly blatant. Unless I find out it was being made while Finding Nemo was then it can be just a tragic coincidence because others will accuse it of riping it off too. But i'll still see it. Movies don't have to be extremely original to entertain me. Which is good because I would never like any movie lol.

its true, but these movies have never really let us down, with the exception of Antz, which i hope this will not become that animated feature

what do you all think is this a rip off of Finding Nemo?
i would have prefered Jack black as the main chacrter, but will smith the main little fish

could be great but still no match for nemo as best animated and underwater movie

It's not ripping off Nemo. It's another silly Disney, Dreamworks battle, and this is Dreamworks entry.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to it alot. I didn't really like Nemo, so this should have no problem being my fave fish movie.

Normally I would say something like, you'll have to wait and see it first to make that decision but not this time. Ellen Degenres made Nemo. I love her, Nemo will be Number One with me, but I still want to see this.

Leaving absolutly no chance of it being a rip off. They were produced at the same time. Pixar just got done first. The same thing happened with Antz and Bugs Life. They were produced at the same time. Dreamworks freaked out an rushed Antz into theaters, and well it shows.
This time around Dreamworks decided to take their time and not worry about people calling it a rip off. Its almost too bad Nemo did so well, (Dont get me wrong its up there on my fav. animated films of all time) because now thats all people will think about when the film comes out. Truth is though its impossible to rip something off that quickly in the animation industry.

It's jumping on the fishy bandwagon started by Nemo, but it should definitely be worth a look.
Only thing I can really say at the moment is that the fish look a bit... un-fishy... they have weird human faces and a general oddness about them.

This looks great. I wouldn't say they're ripping off Nemo because the plot and animation are different.
And DeNiro+Scorsese= Brilliance.

Dreamworks didnt make a rip off nemo. Just because they are both located under water doesnt mean anything. These types of movies usually take 2-3 years to make, and 2-3 years ago few people even knew anything about nemo so there is no way dreamworks knew.

I'm pretty sure I read about this flick a good number of months before Nemo even came out in theaters. I remember it mentioning how one of the Soprano guys (Impelliteri, I think--the guy who plays Christopher) was going to be a gangster fish. Could be pretty funny.

loox craptastic IMHO, but then again I'm the guy who didn't like Nemo. This movie is ripping it off BIG, so very huge and every one freakin knows it.

Its weird that Scorsese is voicing.Haha.Just weird.Im a big Willie Fan,will definitely watch it for him.(Thats actually a fish?Hmm.)I want to see Jack Black and DeNiro as well, its gonna be very interesting.Comparison between this and Finding Nemo is inevitable, but i guess we'll just have to wait till it comes out.Its a kid's movie, and its from DreamWorks. How bad can it get?I personally liked Antz.Woody Allen was great.

I'll check it out when available, it has a good cast that could work out very well. I guess we'll see more when the time draws closer but until then no one can have an opinion until they see it

This is Dreamworks second time doing this, not entirely ripping it off but just using similar ideas. But when Antz came out after Bugs Life, I thought Antz was better on almost every level. It was less kiddy orientated too. So hopefully this will do the same.
Also... Angelina Jolie's fish is pretty damn hot for an aquatic creature.

Finding Nemo took longer,didnt it?

I think Nemo started production during 1999.

Thats 4 years in the making. So Finding Nemo started before Shark's Tale.Hmm.I think if this "war" continues the winner will eventually be 20th Century Fox,if they continue making movies like Ice Age.Which was hilarious IMO.

I don't think it's a rip - off of Nemo, well, it can't be. But I find it hard to believe that 2 fish based CGI films come out around the same time. Dreamworks probably heard about what Disney were doing (or Vice Versa) and decided to produce their own movie with a similar theme.
Though because they both started production around the same time, they will be very different films.

Do people not read my entire post or something? Your the second one to quote it and it seems like you only read the first few sentences. I clearly state that it also might not be a rip off, like if it was being made before Nemo was released, which it was. :)

Visuals are good, but this movie goes for all the cliche and stupid jokes, it looks like a total flop, except for the part with De Niro and Scorcese. That was pretty funny.

I just think its ironic that Dreamworks & Pixar seem to have movies similiar so close together in release. I'm not calling it a finding nemo rip off. I'm just saying that its happened twice how.
I don't mean to compare it to nemo (but it will happen no doubt) but it won't be even close to nemo imo. The graphics don't even look half as wonderful as nemo. This movie will just show you, a cast can't always make a movie. I have little faith in it. sorry to say. I'll see it but i doubt it will be any good. and not because of nemo, but because I just don't think it looks good.

This movie looks great. I think it might even surpass Finding Nemo. I'll definately see it. And MAN they have some big stars! I do have one complaint though. As much as I love Jack Black as an actor, I don't think he really fits in with Robert DeNiro, James Gandolfini, and the whole mafia bit. They should have used Joe Pesci for the other shark or Marlon Brando(May he rest in peace).

Will Smith isn't really funny these days. The one thing Renee Zellweger does in the trailer is the kind of joke I've seen a zillion times and really is particularly annoying now. Jack Black isn't really recognizable unless you really listen. I don't know what the point of the whole whale-wash thing was in the trailer.
But I will say, again, I liked De Niro and Scorcese bantering, although of course that particular moment's spoiled now.
