I don't think Americans like Alizee as a singer, they like her for her

I'm from the UK and I've got nothing against France and their part in the Iraq war.

I've been there 4 times and I love it, I do French at school (not very good at it though) I love French food (especially escargot.. honestly) and I like the culture too, much better than here in England.

I can't say that I care the French take on politics, but as for the country it's very beautiful with a lot of cultural history. Your food is excellent, your cities are abolsutely stunning, and the country side is beautiful. I really would love to go back and visit again if I ever had the change. I spent sometime in the little villages in the southern part of France and I loved goignt othe markets for fresh produce and talking with the villagers. They were every kind too, in putting up with my poor french heh.

And French cimena though sometimes was of the strangest I have seen is sometimes some of the most thought provoking. And I love Luc besson. He's one of my favorites, heh. Taxi was hilarious. :D

I love France, people really give it a bad rap in general these days.

I absolutely loved the country when I visited and I can't wait to go back, hopefully this summer. I adore the language as well. Not much to say but it's so beautiful, in every way.

Paris is over-rated and the politicians are crooks.

But they make good movies.

France has a beautiful countryside, great food, and for the most part, great people.

It's too bad my foreign exchange student turned out to be an arrogant prick, because as a result, it took me years to get over my stupid generalizations about the French. Damn him!

See I think it just who you interact with in France. I leiksaid early the older people inthe country were much for patience and willing to talk. Some of the most intersting peopleI have met. Some of the city dweller were a bit arrogant. But you'll find that almost anywhere.

Ok, I didn't know so many americans love french culture ....
I've just a few things to told to some of you ...
=> Switzer : I agree with you she is "bonne" (cute in more familiar)
=> Knerys : you're right ... South of france is very beautiful (i live in the south of france, how did you guess ? ^^). There is a special spirit there, the sun makes people friendlier (it turn them into people friendlier). And i agree with your last message too : parisien are far less friendly than people in the south ... (but that doesn't mean that all parisiens are arrogant and silly).
=> Killercowboy : that's it ... that's my favorite citation.

Bye everybody and thx for having answered my questions

Elendil11 I have a question or two for you.

I'm taking a vacation for three weeks to France this summer. We'll be in Paris for a few days, then to the south of France for the rest of it. We'll be in Nice for most of that time. Any good dining recommendations in the Nice area? Also I wanted to get to Bern, Switzerland, I have a friend who owns a Bed and Breakfast there. How long is the drive from Nice to Bern?

Thanks!

Some examples of anti-France in Media:

Elendil11: If you're into comics, you should check out the Trade Paperback - Punisher: One Man Army. It features all the bad sterotypes people have about France. But in the end the Punisher nukes the whole island that had the people making fun of the French soldier, and he lets the Frenchman take credit for it and become a hero (the island was a terrorist hideout) :D

Also, if you've seen the WWE, I bet you've seen the tag team "La Resistance...!" (LOL as I imagine if WWE were based in France, what the "Ugly American" sterotypical tag team would be like! :p )

I have never been to France. Hell, I have never been outside the US. My mother went to Europe for two weeks back in September. While she was there she visited London, Paris, Edinborough (probably spelled that wrong) and Amsterdam. All she could talk about when she got back was Paris. She loved the food, the desserts, the wine, and especially the arcitecture.

I would love to visit Paris some day, when I can afford it

Cool ...
I wanted to say to guru that i don't know nice very well because it's "far" ( about 200Km ... but i bet for amercans it's nearly close ...) ... But I can tell you it is a very nice city, specially in summer ... Then i think it's a bit far from bern, because you will have to drive across the alpes (the road is turning all the time) ... You might drive about 8 hours (i'm not very sure ... but i know it's more than 6 hours ...).

Kyle,i'm sorry i don't know your comics, and i don't understand what's WWE ...
But if you want me to give you some exemples of stereotypes on american, i can : we think you are all fat, eating big mac each day ... And then we laugh a lot with your president, Mr. W ... I have got some pictures very funny ...
But i know that franch are maybe worse ...

And finally i can tell you capricorn devil that paris is very beautiful, that's right ... Food is very good (but it's better in the south, where we have special things (sorry i don't know how to say it))...
There are plenty of very beautiful museum and monuments at each street corner ... And, i think it's important for americans, there are nearly no buildings ...

That's all, but you still can post your message about france, and ask me your questions ...
Au revoir
