Meh, 'San Andreas and Halo 2 might be the bigger releases... But like I've said before, 'Snake Eater is the most popular release this Holiday season in Japan... Plus I just noticed it's been nominated for Game of the Year on Spike TV, so it's hardly out-of-the-picture.

But put those fears aside because Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater manages to set a fantastic pace early on and keeps everything going right up to the closing credits and then some. Overall, this is the best Metal Gear Solid game that we've seen and, yes, it rules.

I would have love to have seen MGS 3 get 10's across the board from EGM and everywhere else. Infact I was kinda expecting it, but I knew that getting 10's from everyone is nigh impossible. That doesnt matter, It will definatley be a 10 in my book.

EGm also stated that this game has some of the best bosses in gaming history, and the final boss (I think its the final boss) is one the best fights in gaming history, if not the best. :omg:

Eh, they gave MGS a 8.5... But still, I was expecting it to get 9.0 - 9.1ish... Ah well. It was an excellent review though, props to Gamespot... Greg pointed out everything that was right and wrong. It was marked down because the basic gameplay mechanics haven't changed much from MGS2, and the game is very story-heavy at the beginning. You don't really have a chance to get a feel for the gameplay until a few hours in. Despite the initial shock of the score, I encourage everyone to read / watch the review.

At first I wasn't used to the voice acting because I watched the japanese trailers so much :P..
But after that I got used to em.. and far as that glitch there is something wrong like it freezes when you are at the radio screen and it skips or something..


And I'm about 2 hours into the game.. I got the game at 7 and it was a school night :(

Add Metroid Prime 2 and possibly Gran Turismo 4 (pending a December release date) to that list and it's safe to say this is one of the best years for video games in a long time...maybe the best ever.

Been playing this game since 10 this morning and it it now 11 and all I can say is wow, I love it, Especially the begining Cinema where Hideo Teases you a little about Raiden. THis game rocks, its a bit difficult in places. I had to go to work so I just got to where its night time, so pretty much right after the demo cuts off.

Holy crap this game is so awesome! I love it. Possibly tops my favorite all time games list. I love that snippet of Raiden at the beginning. I freaking out until Snake pulled off the mask. I did not want to play as Raiden, but no worries anymore. I love the cutscene right after you find Sokolov with Ocelot. awesome. I love this game!

Been playing for a few hours, it's everything I expected... Naked Snake, Major Zero and Para-Medic all sound great... At first I thought Para-Medic sounded plain but you have to save often and listen to her conversations with Snake. Ocelot sounds alot better than I thought, he's not as annoying as Raiden... He has that young reckless sort of voice. Volgin sounds alright, but no Villain in the MGS series has yet to surpass Solidus' voice. EVA sounds perfect, the only one I'm disappointed in is The Boss... Too.. Feminine? Her Japanese voice is alot more commanding. Haven't gotten to the Cobra Unit yet, just got past Ocelot. Oh yeah, and Solokov is good too.

Ya'll can't be serious about The Fear... Just Equip the Thermal Goggles and follow him around until he runs out of stamina, then when he drops pop a dart in his ass and the fight is over... Plus you get his camo.

I just beat the Fear and For me the Hardest boss thus far was The SHowdown between Ocelot, Im pretty sure He was easy for most others but for me He just kept getting great pot shots on me. Favorite part of the game thus far Is taking out that Armory with those Gun Emplacements I kept killing myself and loading it over again just to keep blowing up barrels, The Chopper and mowing down All who oppose me. Oh, and How sweet is the Zombie Face paint, I hardly ever take it off just to see the cinema scenes with snake wearing it just makes him look like even More of a BadA$$.

Stayed up all night finishing it... Amazing. The best MGS. Can't wait to play it again and save all of my favourite cutscenes to my memory card... Starting with Snake taking down Ocelot and the Ocelot Unit after finding Solokov :D.

anyways since so many ppl are stuck on The Sorrow, I'll help ya here.

basically just keep walking until you reach him and make sure your revival pill is equipped, and once you reach the end of it and he's like Wake up and go back to your own world, you just touch him and he 'kills' you, DON'T press continue just press L2 and use your revival pill.. ;)

Damn I thought I was making good progress but I just got to Grozniy Grad or However you spell it, I got caught up on THE END for an hour or so, that And I like to play with gun emplacements. I can never pass one up. Has anyone found any cool face paint or Camo uniforms that mabye no one else has? I found one that looks like poop with flys on it, it's quite ridiculous and have no Idea why or where you would use it.

His boss fight is the best.. best experience ever.


The way I beat him was I used my mic to hear him breath and sometimes he would talk, and you'd have to look in that direction and if I couldn't find him I'd go on foot towards that direction.

The way I beatn the end was to simply look for him with either binoculers or thermal gogles and snipe his ass. Eventually I found him trying to sneak up on me so I shot at him with my AK. after taking some damage He ran away so I put on my thermal gogles and chased him down and shot him whenever I got a chance.

The truth is there's no real trick, just be patient and observant, the battle will usually take about an hour.

FINALY I got him.. It took me 2 1/2 hours ... amazing survival and tachtic FIGHT... the trick..... like dracula said PATIENCE.. the End took me to prision 2 times MAN THATs ANOYING

HOLY ****! I just got throught with The End. It took me about 1hr and 15 minutes. Did you guys have a Sniper rifle? Because I didnt. It was so difficult, I mean, had to sneak everywhere, it took a lot of patience. I used my pistol, and when I could see him through the binoculars, I placed my pistol sights over his location and fired. He got me a couple times, and tired sneaking up on me once, but I saw him, after he was nearly on top of me. His stamina was pretty much spent by the time I finally got him. I didnt even have a sniper rifle!

That was the best boss fight I have ever played in a game!

Upon completion of this game all I can say is WOW! The last 3 hours of gameplay are quite simply the greatest moments in gaming history. Just when you think its over, BAM! you get hit again, And the game takes off over and over, I thought it would never end. But sadly it does and now Im left to only replay this great story over again. MGS3 will be revered as a Classic 20 years form now, mark my words. Does anyone else think they should remake the original NES Metal Gear so that we might have some insight on the details of that Mission?

yeeeee... mabey, I dunno, it's harder to choose one best game then a best movie. It's definately in the top ten though.

anyway here's a theory I drempt up while playing the game:
I'm thinking that Solidus from MGS2 was the natural born son of Big Boss and Eva (or some other chick) That would make Solidus 8 years older then Solid Snake (about right) and would explain why Solidus would call Solid and Liquid his brothers, and it would explain why he's "A whole different game from Liquid". If he was born from eva, that would probably lead to him running some kind of third world hell hole he told Raiden he ran. Just a thought .

I was speaking with a friend and we came up with the Idea that maybe Ocelot is the son of The Boss. She gave birth in 1944 on the field of battle, The game takes place in 64, Ocelot does look around 20. And from What I took from Ocelots conversation is that He to Is working for the CIA and maybe teams up with Snake later to try and take Metal gear or perhaps Snake was on the same mission The Boss was on in this game when he went to Outer Heaven. Just some brain storming. !Highlight for possible spoilers!

Its all in black and white. I have no idea how this happend, or what. I think its a mini game, but dont know how I got there. From the looks of it it looks like some sort of japenese game. I am at The Sorrow, and I am to the point where, he says "Wake up. Go back to your own world. Leave this place." I dont know what to do. I tried going up to him once, and he killed me. Shooting him seems to not work. How do I "wake up" so to speak? I just dont want to die again, and go through the whole dead bodies who just roam around thingy.

I'm not sure on the entire storyline, but remember that Ocelot is on Snake's side the entire time. He's ADAM, the NSA codebreaker that is supposed to help Snake, but must improvise when the false EVA appears (I've heard rumors that the Raiden look-a-like is the real EVA). Snake doesn't necessarily turn bad, he just becomes disillusioned with the government manipulation he sees taking place. This is likely due to the mistreatment of The Boss' name and reputation. I need to read up on the stories of the early Metal Gear games to get a better understanding of it, though.

There was a recently added section to the Japanese official MGS3 site called "Secret Theater" It basically shows 5 funny alterations of various cutscene’s from MGS3. In order to get these, you'd have to answer 5 questions correctly from the game's story. There are at least 30 different questions that can possibly get answered. If you miss 1 question, there will another set of 5 questions that you must answer correctly.

Of course, this is all in Japanese and you can probably find a translator online and try to answer the questions yourself. Be aware that there are spoilers in the questions and it's recommended that you beat MGS3 before trying to answer the questions

Hey folks, I just got my greedy hands on "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater" and was once again amazed on how great this game is. I am just wondering however, if there will be a follow-up to this game, surely a recreation of the "Les Enfant Terribles" events and an updated version of the original 86' and 87' Metal Gear can be recreated on modern consoles, much like the MGS1 was recreated on the Gamecube (I am still hoping Twin Snakes will appear on the PS2, slim chance of that happening however....)

ocelot was always in allegiance with the patriots/philosophers. he was never in allegiance with anyone else cause he was always double and triple-crossing them. It was interesting to hear about how ocelot was the love-child of the sorrow and the boss and that he was raised by the philosphers/patriots as a right-hand man

I shot him when you knock him out when you first meet him after you rescue Sokolov, there Colonel Campbell (From MGS 1 and 2) calls and says "Snake You've created a Time Paradox!" (or something along those lines) and the Game Over sign comes up.

Konami lays down the skinny on online multiplayer modes and expanded portions of Snake Eater's single-player game.

Konami has released the full details on the expanded, repackaged version of Metal Gear Solid 3. Subtitled Subsistence, the game includes the full version of MGS3: Snake Eater, as well as new game features, the first two Metal Gear games, and, in a first for the series, several online modes. Subsistence will be released this holiday season for the PlayStation 2 for $49.99.

Perhaps the most hotly anticipated portion of the game will be the new online multiplayer modes. Eight players can participate in the game's five modes: deathmatch, team deathmatch, sneaking mission, capture mission, and rescue mission. Online play will take place in stages from Snake Eater and in new, original levels, such as "Small Forest," "Downtown," and "Abolition Factory."

In sneaking mission, one player (as Snake) will attempt to steal an object guarded by the others, while capture mission pits two even teams against each other to capture the object. Rescue mission adds a further twist by requiring one team to deliver the object to a certain location while the opposing team attempts to destroy it.

Subsistence will also expand the single-player portion of Snake Eater. Players can now use a "third person view camera" that offers a wider field of vision and freedom of movement. After completion of the game, players can also use the new duel mode to go toe-to-toe with any boss from the game, and they can view all in-game movies in the demo theater.
