View Full Version : Most Anticipated Movie in Development Hell?

That's a lot of movies. Some of them are bad, some of them are good. Some of them you've never heard of. Some of them are maybe the worst ideas ever (Battlefield Earth 2 isn't classified as "dead" yet?)...

Which movies would you like to see get out of development hell and get made into a flick? Here's a few of mine...

dieter - Curiosity. Chances? 0%. Hopefully you know what went on...

Jackie Chan/Jet Li Project - Despite hating the Jet Li movies I've seen, I think Li himself is a charismatic and cool guy, not to mention he's a great martial-artist. I think teaming him up with Chan would be awesome, but they'd better do it quick, Chan seems to be shortening his schedule.

True Lies 2 - True Lies was great, and maybe a release would help get that True Lies 2-disc SE in stores already. Plus, it would be fun to see the whole team back together, but now Schwarzenegger's got other deals (like running California).

Terminator 4 - It's not in development Hell quite yet, but you never know, what with there being 12 years between T2 and T3 (which I liked, btw). I'd love to see the future war, full-scale.

MIB III - Despite MIB II's poor performance and case of "cartoon-sequelitis" (in which the sequel to a sharp movie is softened to accomodate a cartoon audience that appeared after the original, see Ghostbusters 2), the premise as of now sounds interesting -- apparently Jones and Smith came up with it together. I'd at least like to find out what that idea was -- and maybe see the flick made. 2 was just so-so, IMO, not bad.

Rendezvous with Rama - Morgan Freeman can't seem to get it off the ground. Hopefully luck turns his way.

What about you guys?

A Tibetan Monk in New York sounds intriguing. :p

I really wish Ridley Scott's Tripoli would get a release date. I want to see Sir Ben teach Keanu how to act.

Preacher. I was so looking foward to this movie and the fact that they had Johnny Depp interested for the lead.... sadly, nobody wanted to direct it.

I'll second The Fountain!

It's Darren Aronofsky's sci-fi film that was supposed to star Brad Pitt until he dropped out to do Troy.

Citizen Kane

Whatever happened to the film of The Corrections? Steven Daldry was supposed to helm it.

the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, the TV show was great but these books demand a film but as soon as a new rumour appears it disappears again

No, the Hitchhikers Books are quite far into production, check the thread in the "Movies Coming Soon" forum.

Great icon, too.

What about you guys?

I laughed more during Minority Report than MIB 2 and which one was billed as a comedy? And it was the same storyline as the first, just roles reversed.

And i was looking forward to Preacher. Johnny would have been great in this role.

There's a couple of films in development hell that I'm hoping will be turned into films, but the one that stands the most in my head is SUPERMAN. Seriously folks this movie has been in development hell since 1995 or `96. How hard is it to make a Superman movie?

History of the project:

Superman Lives (http://cinescape.com/0/Editorial.asp?aff_id=0&this_cat=Movies&action=page&obj_id=20991)

Superman Lives, Part II (http://cinescape.com/0/Editorial.asp?this_cat=Movies&obj_id=21118&aff_id=0)

To spiderman_2k -- Raimi said he had plans to do ED4 after SM3, which seems like a long way off...

Neverending
01-30-2004, 02:36 PM
That's why I rather not have an Evil Dead 4. It will be another two years until Spider-Man III is released and then Raimi will probably want to take some time off. Basically it will be like five years until we get an Evil Dead 4. I don't want to wait that long to see Raimi recycle more of his past work. Raimi is a talented director and I want to see him direct something new and different once he's done with the Spider-Man franchise.

thats cool that you brought up Rendevous with Rama droidguy. I read the book and it was pretty good. I personally would like to see Superman get of the ground...but not with Brendan Fraser.

droidguy1119

If I had to choose, FvJvA any day over EDIV, because I think the series itself is done with AoD. More of the character is cool though.

I had no idea they were making Starship Troopers 2... I can understand why it would straight to video. I remember the original being pretty dumb.

And I would love to see a new Superman movie, but as Awakened said, I dont want to ee Brendan Frasier in it... at all. That would be horrible.

Also, they need to get Ghost Rider rolling... that was one of my favorite comic books, and I think being translated into a movie it would look amazing. Is Nick Cage still attached to this?

Oh, and True Lies 2!! The first is one of my favorite Cameron movies as well as one of my favorite Aunuld movies. It has such a good story and the actng and action are excellent. That may be a while though... unfortunatly...

Ghost Rider's still meandering around. I think the guy who directed Daredevil was last heard to be doing Ghost Rider after DD2.

Peter Jackson and Ian McKellen are involved as of the moment, I'm sure Serkis would jump on. The only one I am wondering about is Ian Holm.
