I've heard that they will be releasing Top Gun and The Matrix as 2 disc special editions. Can anyone confirm or deny???

Top Gun is in the works at Paramount -- I highly doubt it will be 2-disc, though, Paramount sucks at making DVDs and I think they only have 10 2-disc DVDs in their collection, maybe less, and those are all Star Trek flicks.
The Matrix is as of yet totally unconfirmed for SE treatment. Nobody has any idea what's happening there, although Joel Silver keeps saying he'd like a new transfer.

New Transfer huh? Well, I don't know what they could add to The Matrix to make it a Special Edition anyway. I think I've had my fill of Matrix special effects after watching the stuff from the forst 2 DVD's... I don't want any more.

Never mind about the 2-disc bit in reference to Paramount, I forgot Forrest Gump. Maybe Top Gun will be a 2-disc DVD, but it still stands that I dislike Paramount, and their DVDs suck.

There was a Matrix 2-disk newly-formed Special Edition, but it got canned for the upcoming Box Set of the trilogy.

Grrrr . . . and after all their lies about there never being a box set . . .
And I peeped out the list of extras for the DVD release of Revolutions. They're definitely putting more extras on this one. Not a buttload (at least from the list I saw), but definitely better than Reloaded . . .

There is one, and the reason the features for Reloaded sucked, was that they documented the films as one big film - having the other docs would ruin Revolutions.
In the box-set, the making of 2 and 3 will be one documentary, as you can't be spoiled about anything.

As I've said time and time again, hopefully they make some nice Revisited-style docs for the two Matrix sequels, and an audio commentary with Weaving and Fishburne. That's all it would take to please me.
The Matrix: Special Edition DVD didn't have anything special. The main featurette, Preload, shows up on the Matrix Reloaded DVD.
