Isn't it funny though how music comes full circle?In the late 80's it was New Kids On the Block and Butt-rock bands.In the 90's music got a shot in the arm from the re-emergence of punk and bands like Nirvana.For several years after bands as diverse as Napalm Death and Soundgarden are at least getting exposure(a lot in the case of the "seattle sound" bands)and all the former NKOTB fans are denying they ever listened to that crap.Now here we are just after the turmn of the century and we get NKOTB clones adn 2nd rate Madonna wannabes dominating the airwaves.

A reprehensible creature to be sure but he was a neccesary evil...and his tunes were catchy.

Black Flag is classic(certainly better than most of Rollins Band's stuff) but i tire of it quickly.

Sacharine Trust is one of those bands that I have listened to before(probably several dozen times) but because I was either too stoned or engaged in some sort of party conversation I don't remember a lick.Lots of bands like that for me :Daterape,Crumbsuckers,Krass .Theres just so many bands competing for my attention(when I am paying attention to music at all)that a good portion of it doesn't stick unless someone sits me down and says "you have to hear these guys!"(Like with propaghandi who I think are fab).

For me it all depends on my mood.When I feel like singing along with fist pumping anthems I will throw on some Misfits or RKL's first album...maybe even some NOFX.WHen I just don't feel like caring I will throw on some G.G. just because.Then there are a slew of acts that are just plain good...lyrically and musically.Acts like Ministry,David Bowie,Godflesh,Fear Factory(okay their lyrics are not great but you cannot deny their unique sound),Cream,Poison Idea,etc..

I wouldn't say they don't have talent, because basially people tend to bash other people's taste in music. I mean we could all sit here a say we like this band or that artist, but everybody has someone their into, and what some people can't get is why you may not like the artist they like, and this is what causes people to say that band sucks. I'm not going to dogg Nsync, because to someone else thier music is pure gold, but my problem is the way the entertainment industry shoves them down our throut, and MTV is nortorious for this. MTV helped build the careers of Nsync, Britney Spears, and a few others, and what pisses me off is that their are other artists out there that gets no love from MTV, and how in the hell could certain artists have songs at number one according to Billboard, and yet they don't even get the same exposure as say Nsync does, who's latest song barely even cracked the top 50? Does Nsync and Britney have to perform at every award show? I'm sick of hearing about Nsync this or Britney that, and I'm not trying to bash someone's musical interest, but I can not fathom what is the big deal with these people? Maybe I'm in the minority that don't care for their music. Britney Spears, the next Madonna? That's poison to my ears that people would compare her to as Big an Icon as Madonna. Neither of these acts has contributed anything to music artistically, all they do is copy what another artist has done, and make it seem as if their material is so oringal, with Britney being the worst of all those teen pop acts. I think we can all agree that not everyone out there is a fan Michael Jackson or Madonna's music, but everyone can agree that these artists made an artistic impact in music, and a lot others as well.

Pisses me off that they get music video awards when their videos suck, and 20 other bands have much more orignal videos (fatboy slim, gorillaz, u2), but 12 year old girls always vote for them because their cute.

A lot of talented artists don't write their own songs. I'm not sticking up for Nsync,all I'm saying is that everyone has the choice of what music they like, and although I don't like the kind of music they make, and the fact that they are overexposed like the second coming I still believe in a person's right to listen to whomever they like. They have decent singing voices, but they are a manufactured pop group, and I don't care how many people say they aren't. The bad part about it is you have these guys who proberly doesn't even like the kind of music they sing, but since this is what's considered popular right now they have to do it, and I can't imagine being an artist and not being able to perform the type of music I like out of fear that the fans may not accept it, and this is one of the things that will contribute to their decline.

Blank there is a difference in bashing other types of music than what you are into and voicing your frustration that ,once again,some business tycoon has put together a group in which the criteria for inclusion was the following:Caucasian,good looking,can dance,willing to sing formulaic non-threatening,ultra cliche' pop songs andhas thrust this product(along with several copycats) onto a populace that can largely de seperated into two categories:1)Stupid or young people who wouldn't know if their intelligence was being insulted adn 2)people who DO know better and weren't amused the first time someone pulled this crap(New Kids...back in the 80's).

I just can't respect any musician who gets famous off of looks alone. The people who don't play instruments and don't write their own songs. You're telling me if one of the members from one of these boybands was ugly as sin but could still sing he would have been chosen?

Hey I agree with you, but who here wouldn't have taken that gig to make millions of dollars just to sing marshmello tunes. I refuse to call them artists though, becuase they are in the music business with their number one priority being money.

I, for one, refuse to believe that N Sync and all these other teeny boppers actually sing... on stage at least. There is no way someone could make be believe that someone would be able to keep their singing voice perfectly while performing the dance moves that these "boy bands" do.

if i was presented to be in a boy band, i wouldnt do it just because of my personal respect. the thing that pisses me off is that there are so many great bands that try so much harder than them and they get little or no reckognition. these people dont belong in the music section. they are marketing scams.
