I'm actually quite proud of my taste in music and believe myself to be quite open to anything and everything, as long as there is something in it for me. In Floyd's case, there is nothing for it in me.

The Pixies, Aphex Twin, Brian Eno, Miles Davis, The Smiths, R.E.M, U2, and so on, all big in the evolution of Radiohead. Pink Floyd, not so much. Radiohead could very well be this generation's Floyd, both highly respected, complex bands, that shy away from anything mainstream and still manage to be popular.

There's no doubt Floyd is talented, their music just does nothing for me. It leaves me cold. I'm just not moved by it, nor is there any entertainment factor for me.

Over here in UK we seem to be inundated with crap, pardon language- including the kiddies favourite, the novelty performers such as the Cheeky Girls, Fast Food Rockers ect. Also the "Realty rejects" One show that claims to produce one great singer leaves us with about 20 wanna bees hanging around. Lucky us.

Don't knock J-Pop, some of it is very good. Look for the chick who sings on Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, I think her nom de plum is Priss Asigiri (this may even be more J-Rock)

Also find this song by this artist 'No More Words' by 'Ayumi Hamasaki'

Although some of the J-Pop bands are truely awful. But when compared with some of the crap the UK, US and Australia churn out, I think its the pot calling the kettle black.
