It looks like Van Helsing will be PG-13, as it's got a cartoon prequel movie coming out before release.
I guess this prequel is about the Dracula novel - pretty cool.

the way they draw him (and how he's dressed in the movie) still looks a lot like Vampire Hunter D..

I agree, but if you are going to copy something Vampire Hunter D is the way to go.

From Fangoria:
And in still more VAN HELSING news, Davis DVD reports that Universal Home Video will release the half-hour animated prequel VAN HELSING: THE LONDON ASSIGNMENT on disc May 11, four days after the feature hits theaters (which must be a record for this kind of tie-in). Directed by Sharon Bridgeman, the movie features big-screen star Hugh Jackman doing the voice of his cartoon alter ego, who bears more than a passing resemblance to the star of the Japanese anime VAMPIRE HUNTER D: BLOODLUST.

Do you think this will be about Mr. Hyde? Because didn't he fight with Mr. Hyde before he got an order to get Dracula?

That's just an early report. They may be wrong. I doubt they have recorded the voices yet, as Hugh is busy with BFO.

A lttle more on the package:
Loaded with bonus features, including cast and crew interviews and an in-depth look at Van Helsing's groundbreaking special effects

If the movie is as good as I hope it'll be I'll get that.

I gotta feeling Val Helsing just might be all over the place in terms of plots since Stephen Summers is using some many classic monsters etc.
Personally i will buy the animated DVD not just for the animated feature but cause of the bonus material i heard that the bonus stuff will cover lots of information from the live action movie.
So that will be a big hoot! for me.
So far confirmed there will be a Van Helsing live action movie.
A animated prequel and also a animated tvseries.
And i know there is a sequel cause all the actors signed for it i mean Hugh Jackman and Kate.

VAN HELSING - THE LONDON ASSIGNMENT presents an animated prequel to the feature film VAN HELSING, starring Hugh Jackman. In this animated short, the Knights of the Holy Order send Van Helsing into London to search for the demonic Mr. Hyde, who has tormented the city with a violent crime spree.
I guess that is the official plot, it says it many places.

I was just looking at this site, and it has Hugh Jackman, David Wenham, and Robbie Coltrane ??? I wonder who's voice he's doing.
The coverart is clearer and it actually looks like Hugh :D

After searching all over for pictures, with no luck, this is all that I could find. I wish I could actually see some close up pics to see what the characters look like animated.

The London Assignment is a good little cartoon. While it is only a half hour long it has more action then most full length movies. Some elements don't make sense but like the movie it is dumb and fun. The DVD lacks anamorphic encoding. A very stupid move in my opinion other then that it looks a sounds good. The extras are mostly for the live action movie. It sould have focused more on The London Assignment.
