I read the news about the new Matt Helm film and the filmmakers ludricrous idea of having the Win a Date with Tad Hamilton actor as Matt Helm.

George Clooney is the perfect person to play Matt Helm in every single way. I can't imagine anyone better suited for the part.

Like to see "The Wrecking Crew" come out on DVD.

Dean Martin was best...Tony Franciosa was ok, but they changed the stories too much.

The guy from "Date" is also on TV show "Las Vegas"....he could be OK.

Helm is a super spy like Bond....a series of books and 3 movies in the 60's...a TV series (they changed him to a private eye) in the 70's.

Well, that's the 'original' Matt Helm.

My favorite entertainer (Dean Martin) took Matt Helm and made him... well, different. Matt Helm was made into a vehicle for Dino, complete with all his trademarks... Booze, broads, laughs galore.

I guess you could say Helm was a spoof of the spy genre... kinda like Our Man Flint, or for you young 'uns, Austin Powers (with the farce turned down a notch).

Basically, the Matt Helm I know is more or less James Bond with a heavy dose of humor.
