I was just thinking, and I wonder what everything will be like in the 20 Year Anniversary of The Lord of the Rings. Who from the cast will have done what since then (what will they have starred in and how famous will they be), and who will still be around then. I wonder what movies Peter Jackson will have directed. Well I'm planning on being around for another 20 years, so here is one man you can count in

And Ian McKellen would probably be either dead or too old to do the movie then.

I was just browsing around my "Pirates of the Caribbean" DVD, and saw a preview for "Hidalgo" starring Viggo Mortensen. It looks pretty good.

wow this sure is an interesting thread...
i never thought about in 20 years some of the beloved actors won't be around anymore :(
I'll almost be 40  (ill be 19 next month, FEB 10 to be exact ;) )
i wonder what kind of technology will be around then? if the things in LOTR that made our jaws drop be nothing compared to the things they can do in 20 years? Intersesting...

Interesting point Mr. Frodo. Look back at the last 20 years and compare it to now. Will the jump from now to the next 20 years be as advanced as the previous leap? I guess we'll find out in 20 years.

I believe technology will advance but the jump over the next 20 years won't be like the from 20 years ago to now, it won't be as large or as big of a difference, just my opinion. I think orlando bloom will probable be the biggest star in the world, and one of the biggest of all time, seeing how already hes one of the biggest and fastest growing stars and hes only 27. Many great actors didn't get noticed till their late 30's. It seems like ever thing he does is a huge success and ever director wants to work with him. I think Viggo will prob do a mixture of small abd big roles, and will become a critics favorite over the years. As for Elijah, never really liked him (except for LOTR), and i can see him doing a Mark Hamill. Sean Astin i can see winning a oscar for best actor in the next few years and major roles will prob come his way now.

I think it may be like watching the original Star Wars movies, in that you will notice the effects in the movies being out of date, but you will just let it sink to the back of your mind and just focus on the story. The more and more I think about Return of the King, I jsut get this sense of sadness, because when will another movie come along that just touches me this deeply. The story, the music, the effects, and, most of all, the characters, all just blend together to create this perfect experience. I cant even find the words to say what I am feeling bout this movie so I will just stop, haha.

it'll probably be so advanced that hollywood actors like tom cruise or tom hanks wont b needed...since the computer generated characters will be more attractive..

Thanks everyone for your comments, some very interesting points! It is sad that some of the cast probably won't be around then.

WHo knows in 20 years they might release new editions in movie theaters and DVDs. The same thing with Star Wars.

That's what I was thinking ^^
I'll be like 35 so pretty young. It'll be interesting telling my kids about LOTR and seeing it in theaters. Like my dad's generation tells us about Star Wars when it first came out.

According to Moore's theory technology gets advanced significantly every 12-14 months I believe, and so yes, in 20 years the visual effects for films will be significantly better than what we have today, just like the Star Wars films are relevant(visually) compared to todays films like LOTR

In 20 years, Peter Jackson will pull a "George Lucas" and say he wants to go back and finish the trilogy with the advanced technology that he didn't have when he first made them because of a tight budget at the time.
Like putting Cave Trolls in the background of Bree. Or some stupid s**t like that. LOL
LOTR, FOTR "The Special Edition".
Honestly, I hope PJ doesn't do that in 20 years.
