There is probably a very simple explanation of this but I need to ask anyway: Does comingsoon close a movie forum a certain period of time after the movie/s is/are over? The Matrix forum was recently closed and some of the random threads moved to General Movies (not that I have ever or planned to post in the Matrix forum). Now I know I haven't been around here very long but for the time I have been here I haven't noticed this happen to any of the other movie franchises. So why was the Matrix forum in particular closed and can this happen to the LOTR forum at any time?

I....I don't hope LOTR will be closed! Of course it won't be closed when it has so many visitors!! I think they closed Matrix be cause there weren't many visitors there! It would be stupid to close this board! Doesn't Rogue decide stuff like that? I mean, she IS a moderator aren't she? So...she wouldn't close this board!
Cause...man! She's Queen!!! And I don't think she will bring her people down!!

matrix was out for sometime and there was nothing else to discuss.
LOTR has been out for a month, so its still new to people, hell its still in some theaters.

It goes over Rogues head (generally, im sure the Mods get some input into the decisions), but Mirko and Malice decided on what goes and stays on CS!

Hello evenstar, how are you? Headache over? ;)
Hey, have you accepted your shieldmaiden duty? ;) I just noticed King Jedi asking you, but I didn't see your answer....!

Doomed? No, the journey doesn't end here. The eventual end of this board is just another path, one that all forums must take.
There is the Return of the King Extended Edition to discuss, and then possibly the film adaptation of The Hobbit. So, it isn't all so bad, is it?

Not sounding mean, but there's still the possibility of The Animatrix II and then the release of The Matrix Online and Trilogy Box Set release, but that that didn't stop it from closing.
Basically, it will close down if there:
a) aren't many users
b) still ain't no comfirmation of The Hobbit/or it's relase is ages away
c) is completely useless.

But there are many many many members on this board, so.....I doubt it!!
And as adt says, the end (death) of this board is just another path every single living thing (and internet thing) must take....

Haven't you noticed over the last few weeks, less and less people come to the LOTR boards?
And haven't you noticed how there are hardly any new original good threads, other than this one and the results ones?
I give this forum around a month until we see a drastic change.
Then it'll die out until the summer, when the DVDs come out, and have a few visitors.
But in November, it'll have rivalry with the STAR WARS forum, as Episode III's marketing starts, and the originals come out on DVD.
Then in Q1 and 2 of 2005, it'll be basically forgotten.

I agree. There are rarely any new threads anymore. But i think it will last atleast another year.

As long as the LOTR forum stays active, it will not be closed. Plus we still have the ROTK TC DVD, and the ROTK EE to look forward to, and pssibly the Hobbit, and the Oscars.

But we have Jedi! The king who will fight for his land! The ruler who will start a war before he will let anything happen to our Shire!! :p

jpdill, you really are just a bitter SW (and perhaps Matrix?) fan aren't you?
Almost every single post you make in every single forum seems to, in some way, be aimed at rubbishing other films and eulogising over Star Wars and George Lucas.
Give it a break. This forum and it's regular members aren't going anywhere, certainly not until this time next year I suspect because of the ROTK EE, (which with up to 1hour new footage is alone worthy of huge discussion and anticipation, almost like an entirely new film), The Hobbit, and the re-release of all 3 TC (and maybe EE's) as back-to-back marathons.

Er. No.
I know that the STAR WARS forum will close after Episode III's Extended Edition, and i'm going to support the idea.
Somethings have had their run, and 2006 sees the finale to the STAR WARS generation.

At the time of writing this, only 2 others were on the board.
And not being rude, they were Newbies.

When the time comes it will happen, until then, enjoy the time it has.
