(On either television, or as a motion picture)
I'll start off...
Casablanca TV series (the 80's one with Ray Liotta)
Gone With the Wind II: Scarlett (Starring Timothy Dalton)
Star Wars Holiday Special (Well *sort of* a sequel)
Chinatown II: The Two Jakes
2 Fast 2 Furious (Crappy Sequel to a Crappy Movie)
Dumb and Dumberer (Ok, its a prequel, but still... it makes the first look like a Fellini)

I know this is going to piss off a bunch of people but The Star Wars Prequels
Any of those straight to video sequels of disney movies.
Most sequels shouldn't be made unless they add something to the first and they are done well.

Men In Black 2 sucked ass in my opinion. BUT the worst sequel EVER is Troll 2. That movie is sooooooo pitiful that its not even funny. Rent it or something and watch how horrible it really is. No ****, if they said Gigli was bad. Gigli has nothing on this movie.

jeepers creepers 2 was even worse than the first
Dracula
01-07-2004, 01:08 PM
Rocky 2-5, it wasn't neccisarily a horrible movie, but all those sequals really gave the original a bad reputation

Jason X. I hated that movie, it was stupidly pointless.
I also didn't like Evil Dead 2, but i love Evil Dead army of darkness, so i guess 2 wasn't that bad.

I'll say this over and over again...
The last 2 Batman movies....only movies that have been able to repeately put me to sleep.
Charlie's Angel: Full Throttle. That movie sucks ass. The worst movie I've ever seen. The first one was bad....I didn't think they could make the sequal any worse. I sure was wrong. Bernie Mac was the best part of it. I hate these Matrix-like fight scenes that have no place in the movie/story. Like they have some sort of "super powers." I'm the first to take a movie for what it is and enjoy it. But some ***** juist doesn't belong and makes it redicuilous..

Jurassic Park II!!!! I read the book before the film was released....the damn t-rex never went to San diego....I was only about 12 when I saw the movie...I was deeply disappointed...although the third one wasn't THAT bad.....but they still should've kept the first and left it at that!

Halloween III is quite possibly one of the worst movies I have ever seen...
Halloween I & II were GREAT (within their own genre), but III was downright UNWATCHABLE. And it only got worse from there...UNTIL Halloween: H20, which I thought was pretty good (if you ignore Halloween 3-6 -- or whatever number they are on) ...and I haven't seen the latest Halloween, but I heard that the "bridge" (which is SO CRUCIAL in sequels) was pretty bad.
You can talk all day about horror sequels...they have to be judged among other horror movies.
The new movie "Son of the Mask" (aka: THE MASK 2), NOT starring Jim Carrey -- could possibly be one of the worst ideas for a seq.
BATMAN was AWESOME....the 2nd BATMAN would have been just as good had the Penguin not been portrayed as a disgusting mutant....and the 3rd BATMAN was BAD....the 4th BATMAN was UNWATCHABLE...and I'm sure the 5th one will be just as bad.
ALIEN (awesome), ALIENS (awesome), ALIEN 3 (still liked it), ALIEN: RESURRECTION (had a hard time liking it...a couple edits and that movie is pretty good)....I'm curious about "A vs. P" and whenever the 5th one comes out.
TERMINATOR 2 was better than 1...but only because the special effects were so much better when 2 was made...but I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed #3. I'm scared to see what #4 will be like...not really looking forward to it, they should just leave it as it is.

The first Highlander movie is one of my all-time favorites, but they never should have made Highlander 2, 3 and 4.
They sucked big time. Recently I saw Endgame, and they killed of Connor McCloud!! How insane can yo be.

Can we say all sequels should never be made, they should be put into room 101 as the idea is thought of.
Alexander JL
01-12-2004, 12:31 PM
That's not true... there are some good sequels out there...
Like Fraiser for example. (Ok, it was a TV series, but same thing). And then The Pink Panther (which was a 'sequel' to A Shot in the Dark), and a couple of Planet of the Apes sequels, etc...
Catshe

Man. Somoene said Evil Dead II...that's a crime. Evil Dead II is easily the best of the series. And Alien3, I've never watched the theatrical version, but I thought the Alien3 Extended Cut was good.

I'll take you up on that challenge! Here are some I came up with off the top of my head...
Planet of the Ape's sequels (some of them)
The Pink Panther (sequel to A Shot in the Dark)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Terminator 2
Die Hard with a Vengence
Gremlins 2
The Naked Gun 2 & 3
Lethal Weapon 2,3,4
Pulp Fiction (Arguably a sequel to Reservoir Dogs... sort of)
Back to the Future 3

For a second, I thought you were saying Indy 2 & 3 were bad. I'd have been very upset.
Anything past Jaws 2 shouldn't have been made. Tremors was hilarious, Tremors 2 was ok, Tremors 3 was headache inducing, and I have yet to see Tremors 4.

What? You didn't like Terminator 2?
How is Pulp Fiction a sequel? Well, short answer- its not. But it could arguably be considered one...
Originally, Pulp Fiction was intended as a follow-up to Reservoir Dogs... The coolest cat in Reservoir Dogs was named Vic Vega. He was probably the most popular character of the movie, and Tarantino wanted to continue his adventures. But he couldn't! Vic dies! So instead he considered writing a story about what happened prior to the heist... After writing it, he realized he had created a completely different character. Add to the fact that Michael Madsen couldn't do the movie due to scheduling conflicts... and Tarantino just added a few letters, and we get Vincent Vega!
The two weren't planned to be brothers. Only recently did Tarantino decide... what the heck, give the fans a connection to dwell over...
But like I said, that is very much open to debate. The movie is a semi-sequel.

the greatest sequel of all time is before sunset, hands down the best imo.
sequels that shouldnt have been made:
pirates of the carribean--there is no need at all, though there is a very real possibility they will be good.
tomb raider--the first one was awful enough as it was.
friday--wtf???
the birds remake--worst idea ever i hate hollywood!!
texas chainsaw massacre remake--not horrible but uneccessary, the movie with zellweger and mcauneghay was really bad.
urban legends-- i actually enjoyed the first one, but the second was horrendous...
oh and for the record i liked jeepers creepers 2, it wasnt that good, but the first was so bad i expected the same from the second but thought it was actually a lot better--low expectations. and i am one that actually liked matrix revolutions.

The first Friday ( Not Friday The 13th, the urban comedy) was great but the sequels sucked!
Hey man! Blade 2 was awesome, had some nice gore, great action and was as satisyfing as the first movie.
T2 kicked major a$$! how can you not like it? but anyone looking forward to Star Wars Episode III? maybe it will improve over 1 & 2 and be as good as the classic trilogy.
Now Rambo II and III are not bad as some say, but they were both excellent no-brain action flicks for the macho guys out there.

I don't know, it was only like 80 minutes long. Still a great movie, but the best sequal ever? I just don't think so. But of course it had to compete with the masterpice that was Before Sunrise so I can give it that.
Of course I am taking all Matrix movies out of the running since I am admittedly such a fanboy that NOTHING competes for me lol.

those are trilogy's, its not the same thing.
Timecop II
They actually made a Timecop 2?????
I must admit the Universal Soldier sequels were disappointing not to mention the Kickboxer and Bloodsport sequels. At least Kickboxer V was pretty good and Bloodsport 4 was okay.
The American Ninja movies were a joke. The sequels were just as bad as the first.
Not to whoever it was that said that Gremlins 2 was bad, I really enjoyed it. It was hilarious as hell.
Others to mention:
Home Alone 3 & 4
Species III
Under Siege 2 (& 3 OMG)
House Party 4 (the first 2 were the best)
Big Momma's House should never be made. Martin Lawrence should do some supporting actor work like Bad Boys. A bit more of that and I'll probably be happier.

I wouldn't say alot of these movies SHOULDN'T have been made. Considering the success of the original and the potential for new stories I think most of them had the potential for good sequels (eg Matrix, Superman). It's just in hindesight that you wish they hadn't been made.
On the other hand you have to wonder at the logic of making American Pyshco 2.
