I was flipping through channels over the weekend after the football game and saw that USA made a mini series that's based off of Traffic (which I really liked)....

Just wondering why i haven't heard of this before... a lot of people really liked traffic and the TV spot did a good job of "Grabbing my attention"...

anyone know anything else about this/ plan on tuning in?

Which "Traffic" -- the mini series or the film??
I had no idea that there was a british counterpart to this.... interesting.

I think the commercials look pretty compelling, from what I've read on the USA networks website, this series is going to encompass a lot more than the film did...human trafficking, weapons trafficking, etc....

Looking forward to it....

I have seen advertisements for this mini-series since late October. I am looking forward to watching it. I was a big fan of the movie. I just hope that mini-series is as good.

Yeah - saw some tv spots. Has a cool cinematic look to it - not like the normal made for tv crap.

Could be cool

It looks like it strays from drugs. I heard something on a TV spot about "a potential terrorist attack!". I just hope it doesn't devolve into a cheap TV miniseries. It's Traffic.

I didn't particulary like the movie. Felt like a two and a half hour long anti-drug ad. (Which it probably was) Can't say I go for that kind of thing at the movies , which is where I go to unwind and try and escape from the world.

If what I remember is correct the movie Traffic was based on a British miniseris Traffik (shown in the US on PBS). The Us Mini-series Traffic will be based on the US Movie.

From what I saw on the Mini-series it dosen't look bad, I just can't remember when it is airing.

Yeah, it was based on a British version. It's available on DVD today.

As for the miniseries, I think it may be starting on the 16th, but I'm just going on hazy memory.

IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/)

It's on the IMDB home page today - with a trailer.

Looks pretty good.

It starts the 26th, actually... there's plenty of good info on the USA website (http://www.usanetwork.com/series/traffic/)

The 26th? something to tide me over until the good movies start coming out in a couple months

I guess I'll have to track down a copy of the British series DVD - I'd love to see how the different versions handle the same themes

The trailer looks really good. I liked the movie, but somehow this seems very different from the movie. I'll be tuning in.

Newsweek (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3988564/) has the first review i've seen so far - really positive.

Calls Traffic "terrific" and says the story, actors, and even cinematography are good.

This sounds like it is definitely worth checking out.

This week's Roush Rave in TV Guide also had a positive review, and he called for a possible sequel... I really liked the movie (come to think of, I want to go buy it... is it out in special edition with a lot of cool extras on DVD?) and a miniseries sounds cool... Especially one set in Seattle, intertwining terrorism and drug trafficing in a tense, intelligent story that doesn't simply pander to America's fear... I'll definitely be taping this...

I was fairly impressed with the first installment. Really liked all the storylines, although still curious as to how they will conenct.

Definitely isn't a sugar coated look at US policy - seems to show the good with the bad.

This series definitely got off on the right foot, epsidoe 2 is tonight
