Is it just me, but does Gollum look really cartoony in most of TTT's scenes?

I watched TTT EE just now on the Home Cinema, and it looks fake.

Also, do any of you think the new scenes look.... Well. Cheap? Cheap compared to the TC.

I love LOTR, and it's my second favourite group of movies (it replaced The Jurassic Park Trilogy from 2 to 3 - I'm a huge JP fan, thus the "JP" in "JPDILL") and i think the films are really great.

Well please comment without insulting me. I'm not bashing LOTR if you think it.

Gollum is by far the greatest CGI creation ever.

Argh. You completely missed the point.

Look at the Gollum stuff - does it looks realistic?

I don't care if he's the best CGI character to date, that's not the point.

Does he look realistic?

does ANY CGI look realistic to you..honestly?no..why..because you know those stuff you see in movies are not real..which makes your mind think that they are not realistic..because you know gollum doesnt exist and u knew that he will be computer generated..thats why it didnt look real to you..i know you will use JP to compare but JP used a lot of machines..like the t rex..of course its realistic

Ok - can you please lose your fanboy antics and watch the TTT EE. Watch the first few scenes.

The point of this thread is so i can say "The SFX in ROTK have made TTT look a bit dated" or summin like that.

Well my family think that he doesn't look as real as he did in the cinema. I was wondering if any of you lot think that too.

I just saw it a few days ago and he looks good to me, I think he looks the same, maybe in ROTK he looks a bit better. I dont know what you're complaining about.

jpdill, you're never gonna get any respect from this board until you make up for the complete crap you've posted before and prove you have something to say worth listening to. I'm angry I even clicked on this thread.

being a critic is not the same thing as being smart.

what complete crap?

please link to some examples or at least state what the 'crap' was.

I'm correct on pretty much everything i say (as FACT) on this board, so i want to know what you find to be bull.

My STAR WARS stuff - it can't be proven wrong, yet right, yet

My LOTR info - it's all accurate, if you refer to the EEs in cinema. The magazine thing i said is true (i linked to a site). And my Gollum stuff is my opinion. I think he doesn't look as good as before, but still good!

The gaming news has all been proven correct, so there.

Stuff you.

the only time in TTT where I thought he didnt really look photo real was when Sam was dragging him by the rope and when frodo took the noose from his neck. He still looks fantastic though.

Yes...
And he looks even better in ROTK

I think he looks incredible in most of it. But there are a few shots where he looks subpar. Like when Frodo, Sam and Gollum are looking at the oliphants, Gollum looks strangely washed out there.

Please. You're disliked by board-regulars, you know it and we know it. It's hardly worth it to me to go find inane quotes of yours, facts or opinions.

This and the post directly below it is exactly what I'm unhappy with. Well, all the bickering at least. Respect one another. Is that so hard? All of you, it's crap and I'm tired of it. You don't like what someone says, FINE. Do not, and this is the last time I'm saying this, call them stupid or start squabbling with them. It ends now.

i dont get it..how can gollum look real in the cinema and not on the EEs?

Well, CGI has never EVER been realistic. Not to the point where you forget they're CGI--at least for me. But Gollum comes incredibly close. I noticed his realism especially during the sunlight shots and close-ups because of the way the shadows hit him. It's really freaky how close to real he's gotten and evolved through LOTR, but the best examples of him realism are precisely where YOU, jpdill, think he's most unreal, i.e. TTT.
