After seeing all three films. I only have one big issue. The fact that Eomer turns into a big nobody, while Gamling becomes an important character. Gamling was an old man in the book, who was only the second in command at HD. He gets a big chunk of Eomer's big moments. (Helping Theoden prepare for battle to nam one.) This hurts the trilogy because we never see Eomer form the relationships that he does in the book, with Eowyn, Theoden, or Aragorn. Peter Jackson has stated that it was important to him to develop these relationships with Aragorn, but lets this one go.
The only reason that I can think of for PJ to not have him be at HD, is because they did it the same way in the animated version that came out in the late 70's. That just seems lazy of PJ and co. Who else feels the same way?

Eomer SHOULD have gotten a larger role. He was incredibly underplayed. He was the ultimate badass at The Pellenor in the books.
Oh well we have the EE to come. The shot in the trailer where he grieves for Theoden should be in there.
I do feel that they focused too much time on Theoden and Eowyn too.
Hopefully there should be some kinda coronation for Eomer when be succeeds Theoden as king of Rohan. Wouldn't it be nice if he got to meet Imrahil's daughter who eventually gets to marry him. What's her name again? Yet there's no point since we never saw Imrahil anyway. Such a pity.

Eomer will have more scenes in the EE, including his crowning.

Eomer should've had an important role in the movie. He's an important character in the book. The disadvantage of the movies is Peter Jackson has a way of making less important characters in the books more so in the movie.

Lothiriel.
I don't remember seeing Eomer develop any relationships. Karl Urban definitenely got the shaft on this one. Gamling sucks.

I agree, I think at the end of TTT it should have just been Gandalf leading the rohirrim. Oh well.

That's awesome. That's what I've been hoping for.
The only problem I have with ROTK as a whole is that the EE is still MONTHS away!!!

Actually, as JEDI informed us last week, Imrahil is in ROTK. Granted, he's not actually named, but once JEDI pointed out the guy, it becomes pretty obvious that he's in there.
Eomer needs more SCREEN TIME!!!

Subtle touch on PJ's part that definitely denoted Eomer as king of Rohan: see costume at Aragorn's coronation. His collar has the same gold embroidery as Theoden's did.

They cut some of his scenes, or atleast one that I know of. In the trailer they show him holding someone, crying

I was most disappointed that they didn't show Eomer's final stand at the Pelennor field. That's one of the most emotional parts of the book.....The black ships are sailing in......all hope is lost....and yet Eomer was "still unscathed, and he was young, and he was king" and laughs defiantly at the ships coming in and rallies the rohirrim for one final stand at the gates of MT. Bad-ASS. Here's hoping something like that happens, cuz I didn't like the way they left it with Eomer. My girlfriend came out thinking that Eowyn was going to succeed Theoden as the queen of Rohan because of what he said to her about guarding the Golden Hall. Eomer's succession should have never been in doubt

It's true. I did a side by side comparison pic of the soldier that I thought was Imrahil and a pic of the actor that plays Beregond, they are the same guy. So it is Beregond. Let's hope for more of him the EE and his son Bergil, who was also casted.

If you hadn't read the book, you would probably think that Eowyn does succed him. They should have made it more clearly with Eomer succeding.

I agree Eomer definately deserved a bigger part though I realoly liked that speech he gave during the Muster of Rohan when he said something like "RIDERS OF ROHAN!!! YOU HAVE PLEDGED YOUR OATHES TO ROHAN... NOW... FULFILL THEM!!!!" or something to that effect

Eomer was one of my favorite characters in the book, in the top 3. Was so excited to see him in TTT but dissapointed at his lack of screen time, and the same goes for ROTK. Though, from what I am hearing, he will be getting a beefed up role in the EE, with him finding Eowyn and Theoden on battlefield, which Im sure will be a heart-breaking scene, and his Crowning as King of Rohan. It will be exciting to see him get some recognition.

I too found myself upset at how little Eomer had to do in TTT and ROTK, since he had such a large part in both of those books. Oh well, the EE will eventually come.

I agree Eomer got the shaft in both movies, but I love the part in ROTK where he spear's one of the riders of the Oliphaunt, and ends up taking down two of them. That was badass.

And yes, I am a man, but halflings are sort of well, not *full man* so kissing merry isnt all that bad.
Eomer should have fought at Helms Deep in the movie and Erkenbrand should have been in the film as written in the book. Karl Urban did mention in the commentary that he was disappointed that he never got to actually fight at Helms Deep also.
This could have continued into ROTK where Erkenbrand could have represented his Westfold flank at Dunharrow etc as well as the arrival of the Rohirrim at Pellenor Fields.
Too much time was focused on Gamling though I like the character. Oh well.

There was no need to spend as much time with Gamling or Damrod throughout these movies.

I would have loved to have seen more of Eomer fighting, Gamling sucks and his role was hyped up too much.
I grinned like hell when Eomer brought down that Haradrim and the mumakil though :D
