Best Scene(s): -When the witch king's flying thingy got its head chopped off
-When the King is so naieve that he truly believes his son is dead and then Gandalf and Pip try and save him, knocking the king into the fire. He then runs off the edge of the building in flames.
-At the end where Pip and Meri run in and start jumping on Frodo (i love gay scenes, there so funny)
-The orcs start just randomly killing each other and then they are almost all dead
Worst Scene(s): I honestly cannot think of a bad scene

Best scene(s): The whole thing.....but my favorite is Faramir's charge/Pippin's song
Worst scene: can't think of one, but I honestly thought the AOTD looked kind of cheesy in some scenes.

Yes...I have read the books...several times.
From the book...
Sam got up. He was dazed, and blood streaming from his head dripped in his eyes. He groped forward, and then he saw a strange and terrible thing. Gollum on the edge of the abyss was fighting like a mad thing with an unseen foe. To and fro he swayed, now so near the brink that almost he tumbled in, now dragging back, falling to the ground, rising, and falling again. All the while he hissed, but spoke no words.
The fires below awoke in anger, the red light blazed, and all the cavern was filled with a glare and heat. Suddenly Sam saw Gollums hands draw upwards to his mouth: his white fangs gleamed, and then snapped as they bit.
I see it as more of hand to hand combat with an invisable foe, but each person sees it as they will, whether fighting on the ground, like wrestling, or flying around like he is riding and invisable foe.

wow... bad taste or 'different' opinion? Gandalf knocking out Denethor was hilarious! Mine:
Best Scenes: Pyre of Denethor. Faramir charging/Pippin singing. Legolas and the Oliphant. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli hopping out of the ship then -- (so many :) )
Worst Scenes: Can't really think of any. Usually during death scenes or drama scenes I'm like 'speed it up!' and for most scenes, I didn't mind it in ROTK. But others... I'm like 'get it over with'!

Best scene...
- Frodo waking up and seeing Gandalf for the first time, since fotor.
- Aragorn seeing Arwen for the first time, since fotor.
- Rohirrim charge.
- Legolas taking down the oliphant. "That only counts as one." - Gimli

It wasnt supposed to, Denethor is suppose to be a tragic and misunderstood character just like his son Boromir. I understand he is somewhat of a villiain and a jerk (I was glad that he died), especially what he did to Faramir, but you're supposed to feel some sympathy for him. That scene was incredibly stupid.

Best- way too many
Queen Arwen
12-22-2003, 04:03 AM
Best Scene
In no particular order, I give you:
-Faramir's Charge/Pippin's Song
-Eowyn & WiKi
-Sammath Naur
-Black Gate (except Aragorn's speech--the trailer version was MUCH better, speaking voice considered)
-Aragorn's Coronation
Worst Scene
IMO, nothing the EE won't fix or can't handle:
-Denethor was HORRIBLY denied a decent personality. He may have been a jerk, but he was a noble jerk in the book. ROTK TE kind of robbed him of a sense of faded nobility.
-Gandalf beating up Denethor still makes me feel uncomfortable
-Blackout, then "The End"
Smeagol

Best Scenes: Mount Doom and the Oliphaunt attack,
Worst Scene: The Paths of the Dead

This makes no sense to me, how is it obvious that he hasnt read the books (despite the fact he has) because he didnt like how something looked visually?

Best:
-Sam carrying Frodo up Mt. Doom
-Faramir's Charge/Pippin's Song
-The Battle of Pellenor Fields
-The eye of Sauron calling Aragorns name,
Aragorn slowly stepping forward as Gandalf and the others
watch in confusion only to have Aragorn turn around and say
"For Frodo."
Worst:
-The scene where Denethor and Faramir are about to be set ablaze. Not exactly bad, just poorly handled.
-It was nice to see Pippin caring for Merry hurt on the fields of Pellenor after the battle, but that scene looked kinda funny. Funny as in gay. Again, not bad, just sorta gay...not that there's anything wrong with that :D

I have to comment, I don't know why everyone on this board has gotten so touchy all of a sudden, it seems like all of these threads are just turning into bickering matches.

Nah, its more like nit-picking.
Its like when I watch an animated movie or look at an advertisement.
I deal with graphics and animation so although I enjoy them I also searching for flaws or figuring out ways how they were done.
Everyone here is a movie purist so criticism is part of it all :)

ROXYSBH

Best: Eowyn and the Witch King I loved it when Eowyn said i'm not man i'm a woman, YEAH BABY!!!
Legolas and the Oliphant
My absoutly Favorite part when Aragorn said to the Hobbits You bow to no one, we owe you our alleigance, it was something like then then everyone bows to the hobbits, that part had me bawling, by far my favorite part!
Worst: couldn't think of any
Golwin

worst:
-Army of the Dead beeing too powerful, just sweeping the fields of pelennor without getting any resistance.
-Ride of Faramir from Minas Tirith to Osgiliath, just taking a few minutes, and you could see from Osgiliath that the horses rode out of Minas Tirith..
-Frodo falling of the cliff at Mount Doom.

Best
- Arwens vision
- Coronation
- Black Gates opening
- Tracking the beacons
- Faramir/Pipin singing scene
Worst
- Denethor running that distance on fire (agree with the post above not "bad" just not well handled)
- Not sure on the Legolas moment
I pretty much agree with Evenstars post above^ although I also dont like Deagel in the opening scene in my opinion he is too OTT.
I agree with ur best scenes although i`d also include the Gandalf and Pippin talking about death scene and I adore that little scene between Merry and Eowyn in the tent :) There are soooooo many great scenes!! and i`m sure many more of my faves have been left for the EE lol

I agree, the expressions he makes are weird.. like when he hooks a fish he sort of looks mid-orgasm or something.. and his face in the water, I couldnt help but laugh at that..
Smeagols was no better, his face whilst looking at the worm looked gormless as hell, and the way he reacted to Deagol catching a fish.. looking at the water and then at Deagol just looked TOO happy and odd saying "Go on!!"

Everything was great! can't think of anything that was bad , but something that kept making me laugh through that whole part about Sam carring Frodo in the movie , was what was Seasn Astien thinking when he had to carry Elija Wood?. That must have been hard for him. I mean the stunt actors probaly couldn't do it , so it was probaly hard for the guy , sorry for going off track , also for miss spelling their names , he he he. Later.

Oh people have some terrible ideas of what are bad scenes. None were bad at all. Its fine if some where not as good as you thought, but none were bad per say. As for Denethor, the EE will deal with him, I hate to say it, but it really would have been to complicated to try and dig deep into his personality, you know, with the Palantir and all just for the movie going audience. I mean book readers know, but it would be too complitcated to try and flesh everything with him out in the TC. People would have been going, what is Denethor that main character now? Personally I liked Gandalf beating him in the head.

I don't have a lot of pity for him either. Just the way he treated Faramir did it for me.

Sorry I edited my post so it looks like you are speaking to no one. Lol. But I agree, I didn't have as much pity for him as everyone else, BUT I still did feel for him. I feel much more for Faramir though. Lost his brother and father....

Just watched it for the second time. I think the worst scene is where Sam is asking Frodo if he remembers the Shire and the taste of strawberries. I think it was some good lines, and necessary for the mood but... it could have been trimmed a bit. I just wanted it to hurry up and for frodo to get that damn ring in the mountain.

I quited like Theodens initial assault by the Witch Kings Fell Beast just because we see it swoop down and the Rohan Riders flee from its path, but we see Theoden just look at it almost making a final stand against them..
