Futurama was one of the funniest things on T.V and fox had to scrap it, Who else wants futurama back.

They did bring back Futurama for an extra season even when it was suppose to be cancelled. It still did not do tat good in ratings. I am a big fan of Family Guy and am glad that it will return but I don't see why it Futurama needs to return.

The reason futurama didnt do that well is because people were always comparing it to the simpsons and never watched it for what it was. Anyone who reads this watch the episode on season 4 called jurrasic bark and tell me what you think.

I heard that because of it's strong fan base and popularity on Cartoon Network, that they are planning to pick up Futurama and resume production of new episodes... Now, that was never for sure, but then again, in the series finale, the opening sequence said something like "We'll be back... On a new network."

I liked the show enough, but I'm not upset it's gone from FOX... It wasn't bad, but it would do much better on cable, and maybe the writers could get a bit more creative if it airs in the Adult Swim time slots if it ever returns...

yes it was compared to the simpsons, but it also didn't do good in the ratings because it was always premptied, because of sports, so it wasn't on a lot of the time, for people to watch.

I think they should stop making The Simpsons and go back to Futurama. The Simpsons is good but it's had it time in the sun let Futurama live on. (Works as well here as it does in the How long should The Simpsons be thread.)

Futurama deserves a second run because it's still got to find its true audience. As long as the show is short-shrifted by being, in the general public's eye, a secondary, lesser Simpsons, then the show won't get the viewers it deserves. The show needs to distance itself from Groening's other creation, in any way that it can (Family Guy exhibits the same symptoms -- being an animated show about a family that had sharp pop-culture humor, I think many casual viewers rejected it and just clicked past, depriving the show of the audience it deserved, which it found on DVD).

You're contradicting yourself here. Family Guy was cancelled, but then brought back for another season with lackluster ratings. If you don't see why Futurama needs to return then why does Family Guy?

OK so futurama wasnt at its best when it finished - but it was still better than the tripe simpsons episodes they have been pedalling lately - the only traversty was that even the new siimpsons episodes do better in the ratings than futurama did.

FUTURAMA had loads of jokes left to tell it was in its prime, PLUS the bit in the very last episode made me cry with laughter when the robot devil shouts up to fry on the balcony and asks for his hands back, and fry says no go away, then the robot devils shouts YOUR NOT NICE., well you proberly had to of been there

Yes indeed they should bring it back! The ending of the Jurassic Bark episode was one of the most saddest things I've seen on T.V. Futurama had razor sharp dialogue and wonderful characters. Also does anyone remember a show called The Critic which was made by The Simpson creators a few years ago?

Absolutely legendary show. It last 13 episodes on ABC, and cancelled it, then Fox picked it up for another 13, and cancelled it, then they made about 5 internet flash 5 minute episodes, and cancelled it.

But its all coming out in one big DVD box set!

Now if you want to talk cancellation travesty there's Invader Zim......

I would love to have Futurama back, it's really sad if it did poorly in ratings because people looked down at it from Simpsons...cause while they were both going, the Futurama episodes were better.

Maybe they'll bring it back when The Simpsons finally go out.

I thought Futurama didn't come back for one season, they just split season 5 up into 2 seasons or something.

Anyway, I tape it every single night it's on Adult Swim, even though it's all repeats over and over again. There are some episodes I skip, but for the most part, I loved this show. I just wish I'd tried it out before it got to Adult Swim. It would be great if Cartoon Network picked it up and brought everyone back for it.

I'd love to have the show brought back but
i'm not expecting it to return. The main reason it was cancelled was it never got to build it's audience since FOX aired it Sunday nights at 7. It was constantly pre-empted by football. FOX could have easily placed it following the Simpsons, where Simpson repeats aired for months but they didn't. I own 3 volumes of the series on DVD and I'm eagerly waiting for vol. 4.

I have writen to fox and matt groning (well his agent) in a plea to bring back futurama and i think the best way to get it back is if we all contact fox and let them know we want it back like a petition.
