I just got finished reading book 3 for the 3rd time but this time I noticed something different. At the end when Harry is speaking to Dumbledore about Wormtail he said that he should have let Siruis and Lupin kill him and Dumbledore told him that he showed mercy like his dad, but the thing that got me was when Dumbledore said the now wormtail is indebted to Harry and that one day Harry might be glad that he spared wormtail. He also said that it was the greatest magical bond. Then I realised that Wormtail was hardly even mentioned in Book 5 so I wonder what JKR has install for this indebted bond. Please give me ya'lls opinion.

I think everyone's wondering when wormtail's going to repay Harry for saving his life. I thought that it would be in the 7th book but thats the obvious answer.

I think that harry might geyt captured or something and wormtail will let him go or something. I don't think it will be overly important, like he helps harry defeat voldie, just something smallish.........

I think it will be some sort of magical bond or somthing like the one that Harrys Mom Left on Harry. Maybe some sort of magic or attack won't work on Harry Because he spared Wormtails Life.

Think of the connection between Gollum and Frodo in LOTR, Gollum was spared and he came back to help in the end. Thats the direction I think its heading.

I think this will play a role in the last book. Although wormtail isn't a big part of the 5th book he and Harry both played a huge part in Vold.'s return in the 4th book.

I would guess that it'll come back to help Harry when he is really desparate. When he thinks there is no hope left, Wormtail will to whatever to get Harry out of the situation. Can't make any guesses more specific than this. To say Harry gets captured and Wormtail helps him escape is possible, but it's ENTIRELY guesswork. All we can figure logically is that Wormtail will help Harry, and (because it's all drama) it'll come at just the right time.

I think he will help Harry do something that averts one of Voldemorts plans. He might get killed also for doing it if he gets caught.

This discussion again? So then where did Tolkien rip the parts from?.. I am sorry to inform you that although he might seem very original to you, it is just because you aren't looking far enough back.. Teutonic myth, Beowulf etc... these are where Tolkien ripped his ideas.. all authors have influences or whatever you want to call it--- Rowlings have many, many different influences.. So did Tolkien.. originality is only a question of how long your audience's memory is..

maybe JK knew that you'd think that, and she will portray the most obvious answer. or maybe she knew that you would say that, and knew that someone would say exactly what i am saying, and then she would answer that question in book six. oww, i got a headache. better go read somemore HP.:alien:

Well Gollum betrayed frodo and tried to kill him, so your comparison isn't accurate. So in the end, Gollum was an obstacle, not of any help.

I beg to differ. Tolkien's only inspiration from these different mythologies was to make his own mythology for England. He was disappointed that england didn't have its own. So no, he didn't rip off anyone. Read the letters he wrote, or the encyclopedia of middle earth. It's there. A few other things:
1. Tolkien put a crap load more time into LOTR than J.K. Rowling put into HP.
2. There were a crap load of fantasy stories before J.K. Rowling's time, this is not the same with J.R.R. tolkien, therefore, Tolkien would've done a lot more with less (influences) than J.K. Rowling did with more, even in this case.
3. LOTR is a much bigger book to rip off of than other less known mythology, so even if Tolkien did rip off those people, J.K. Rowling would have ripped off someone who's no better than her. So even in that case, Tolkien's the better of the two. Because Tolkien would've ripped off something original, whereas Rowling didn't. Its like eating crap, it would come out worse whenever "recycled."
