Ok, I decided to post a new topic because I haven't seen anyone speak to this issue. As we all know the W. Bros filled the Matrix movies with sybolism. It's everywhere, and even the smallest things in these films have a purpose for being there. That said here's my comment.
Did everybody notice how the face that DeusEx formed was that of an infant? I'm sure most of you did. Why did he choose that form? There has to be reason that the W. Bros chose a baby face for him to have. Also when Neo offers to defeat Smith and tells DeusEx that Smith has gone beyond their control DeusEx suddenly screams "We don't need you, we don't need anything!!!" To me it seems like DeusEx has a superiority complex. But here is my theory on why he was given a baby face and let Neo know of the Machines independence.
Since man created machine, man could be considered the adult/parent to machines. We lived in peace and harmony with them and viewed them on a somewhat lower level, like many adults consider teenagers and children. But the machines like children grew up and began to think and act on their own, becoming independent thinkers. When the machines (or children) did something wrong, acted out, rebeled (that one machine killed it's owners) we punished them (like we do rebeling teens), and since it was a serious wrong doing, we choose to have nothing to do with them fearing what they might be capable of, somewhat similiar to a parent disowning a problem teen. But the machines fought and struggled, making it on their own, with there own people and own culture, similiar to teens and young adults finding people similiar to themselves and becoming friends, forming a social group. Since now the machines were independent, with many resources available to themselves they posed a threat, similiar to young people who are runaways and/or involved in questionable lifestyles and or crime. So we chose to deal with them harshly, in the case of the machines starting a war. The machines were the first to offer peace and forgiveness, similiar to a kid asking for a second chance, but were denied by us. We attacked the machines and they acted in self defense. Now when Neo goes to see DeusEx it's comparable to a parent going to the child and seeking peace and forgiveness after all that's happened, but the machines already offered a chance for resolution long ago and we spit it in their face. Even though they have found some independence they still don't want to admit that they need us (for fuel and to kill smith) because we have hurt them deeply, which could be similiar to a rebelous teen not willing to admit that they still have some growing up to do and still need us for their ultimate survival (teens can't pay rent, food, bills, etc to take care of themselves and be fully independent), (machines need us for energy and to stop smith). When DeusEx screams "We don't need you, we don't need anything" it's a way of asserting independence and is often something a child or teen may say to or think about a parent.
Anyways just my thoughts.
