I don't often come to the SW boards,so I don't know if this has been discussed.I apologize if this has been on thousands of times.

When Obi-Wan goes to the planet where they make clones(can't remember the name),the Master whatever the long neck dude was talking about.Who is he?A friend of mine suggested it was Qui-gon Jinn(He was killed in Episode 1,which was about 10 years ago) that placed the order, but later decided that it wasn't needed anymore,so erased the archives.

Sifo Dyas = Sidious = Palpatine

Palpy was once a Jedi Master, turned evil - i think Mace Windu finds this out in the film, and when he does, he has a sabre fight with Palpy.

That would be a plot twist if it was Qui-gon.

From their conversation, it appears that Obi-wan, Mace, and Yoda all knew Sifo Dyas.
So unless Sidious can do a Clark Kent/Superman thing...

Sidious is the Emperor from IV V and VI,right? He's a Jedi?Obi-wan said Sifodius died 10 years ago, though. And it seems like Mace Yoda and Obi-wan all know this Darth Sidious is alive,so is it possible these guys aren't the same?

And who the heck is Palpatine?

I'm not new to the Star Wars boards - more of a lurker than a poster - and i'm wondering where it has been said that Palpatine was once a Jedi Master.

I went to Starwars.com and read everything on him and it doesn't say anything about him once being a Jedi Master.

Not starting anything, more curious for curiousity's sake.

I've been suspecting that Qui Gon is a bad guy for a little while now. It would make a fabulous plot twist. Think about it, if it wasn't for him, Anakin would never have been trained. He was friends with Dooku. The Council never trusted him to join with them. Maybe he was a disgruntled Jedi...

Qui-Gon was Dooku's padawan,wasn't he?

Sorry - that was what i think!

Sifo-Dyas was a Jedi Master, but he hated the way they worked. So he devised a plan to fight against the Jedi and become Emporor.

Sifo-Dyas fakes his own death (remember Obi-wan thought he died more than 10 years), kills a couple of Naboo Senators, does a little dodgy dealing, and ends up as Naboo Senator.

Sidious was once a Jedi, but he turned corrupted. That's how he knows how to use the force.

I read inside info somewhere that when Sidious is Palpatine, he is constantly using the force to reconstruct his own face because his natural look is that of Sidious, that's why Yoda, Obi-Wan, and the others who knew Sipho Dious (or however you spell it) don't recognize him. Remember Yoda says it's hard to sense the dark side.

dont forget that qui gon WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG, ANAKIN IS THE CHOSEN ONE, AT THE END OF EPISODE 6 ANAKIN DOES BRING BALANCE BACK TO THE FORCE. So qui gon was right all along, hence he is not a bad guy!

Ani brings balance by killing Palpatine in ROTJ.

Palpatine (Palpy) is the Naboo senatro who became chanchellor - in Ep 3 he becomes the Emperor, and he's the old man in Ep 5 and 6 who is incharge of Vader.

Yeah, but the Council would never let Qui-Gon join. He was a member of the Jedi Order, but due to his disagreements with the Council, they would let him join their ranks, despite his experience.

Frankly, this is all just a crazy idea I have, but I think it would be sort of cool :p.

So Qui-Gon is a jedi, but not part of the council?

So Palpatine is the dude that tells Anni that he's becoming the most powerful jedi, then he becomes the emperor?

Just because Qui Gon was right doesn't mean he can't be a bad guy. Sometimes the most intelligent people and/or best prophets aren't exactly the most wholesome.

Oh, and the planet that the person that started the thread couldn't remember was Kamino..if memory serves me correct.

Searched through the board, and thought HEY! This thread was never resolved! although i weren't here when the thread was made, i'll do the honour of answering it once and for all:

In 'Labrynth of Evil', Sifo Dyas is revealed to be Count Dooku. But, although not mentioned in the movie, Lucas intended it to be the former Jedi version of Palpatine/Sidious.

Did you read LOE?

Not to say things can't play out differently on screen, BUT...

According to LOE:

Sifo-Dyas is NOT Dooku NOR Sidious. Sifo-Dyas and Dooku were friends. They both had the same doubts about the Jedi being incompetent during the oncoming darkness they both felt. Sifo-Dyas ordered the clones in the name of the Republic, but then had doubts about what he did and was going to tell the Jedi. Sidious saw that he could use this army to his advantage and influenced Dooku to change sides and murder Sifo-Dyas and erase Kamino from the archives so that the Jedi would never find out. For if the Jedi and the Republic found out about the army, they would surely cancel it as there was no immediate threat to the galaxy at that time, and no one would be able to order a clone army again because Kamino would be under the watchful eye of the Republic and the Jedi from then on.

Dooku then hired Jango Fett as the template for the clones. Sidious and Dooku then waited to plan the Separatist movement so that once enough clones were ready there could be a war in which now Chancellor Palpatine could get more power, enough to become Emperor Palpatine.

isn't Safiy dios the Kamino Jedi , that is the COUNCIl in episode 1 who dies , and dooku impersinates to order the clone army. Its not sidious nore dooku , Obi wan , and all the Jedi knew Safi dios personaly. ANd if u notice the Kamino Jedi master doesn't appear in Episode 2 , so he was the one that died 10 years ago.

I can tell some of the people on here are NOT spoiled. Some of these posts are so funny.......Sidious was once a jedi :funny:

 Yeah that did sound ridiculous. Sidious once a Jedi [LAUGHS OUT LOUD!!!!!!]

Which does raise a question. Were the Jedi ever aware of the planet Kamino prior to the Cloning? It didn't look that way on AOTC though.

If the planet Kamino was purged from the Jedi archives, I would go out on a limb and say that the Jedi did have prior knowledge of the planet Kamino. Maybe not all of the Jedi, but obviously some Jedi did have knowledge of it.

Well clearly, as Dooku was once a Jedi and he probably was the one who deleted it from the archives.

Yes, it was Dooku.

And there wasn't a Kaminoan on the Jedi Council. It was just an alien with a long-neck. Can't remember the name.

Thanks, Starwars411. Now I get what he meant by the "Master with the long neck"... it went completely over my head.
