Wouldn't you think Jedi's could use the force to make themselves levitate or fly (since they can move objects)? That could really be useful in some instances, though I'm sure that has never happened in a Star Wars movie. (Occasionaly difficult jumps are made though)
Vader is Luke's father
They're too heavy, only yoda or Dooku could do that. Flying would take too long. Plus, maybe they can't use the force on themselves. What's with Vader is luke's father?

Oh come on, haven't you seen Empire Strikes Back, Yoda says "only big in your mind" ;).
Yeah sorry about spoiling the movie though.
Damn you! You ruined the surprise!

If they do flying though, I'm sure we'd be watching Jedi fighting a-la Shaw Cinema's kung-fu flying style (in other words, just imagine the 'flying' scenes from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon)

Well, in the game JKII, you can jump reeeealy high...
Obi-Wan sort of flew during the last part of the fight with Maul...either that or he used the Force to give himself enough hand/arm strength to hurl himself up from the pit.

If they could fly, it would be cool, but i think it would be a little too MATRIXY.

True.
But they do those long jumps...kind of like flying, but not really.

But those jumps look kinda fake...Looks like they just suddenly get lifted off the ground.

I mean c'mon, if Yoda can move a X-Wing and the only limitations of the mind are those you create, then I see no reason why a Jedi couldn't fly. But it might look cheesy.

the jumps do look utterly crap. Specially the one where Anakin jumps onto the rhino dude. Watch the documentaries; they literally make them jump up, then they take the frame where they're at the peak and just move that digitally. Makes for a ****ty effect.

Yeah.My sister saw that and screamed"WTF?You call that a jump? How fake can you get,Lucas?"

Luke also does a force jump from the carbonite chamber in ESB.
and Yoda in AotC, floats around in the jedi temple on this flying saucer thing, why wouldnt he just levitate himself.
Luke and Leia are brother and sister.

Maybe levitating takes a lot of energy so he flies in that saucer.

Maybe using the force to levitate something is like using an extention of yourself.
So trying to levitate yourself would be like trying to lift yourself up the ground for us normal folk.
I think you have to become one with the force (or have it in your body) to actually use the force, and perhaps the force cannot be used to act on itself in a situation like that. It would be kinda like trying to grab your ankles and pull yourself into the air.

Maybe they consider flying a vulgar display of power.
Maybe you can not use the force on yourself like that.
Maybe they think flying is for fairies?
But you think if they could the Sith would use it to their advantage and they dont so I think it is impossible to make yourself fly.
Now why they dont have one strong Jedi standing on the sidelines using the force to make other jedis fly is a question I would like answered.
Why not have Yoda hide and use the force to make jedis in battle fly around slicing things up with their light sabres?

Yep, basically what I said.

I don't see why a Jedi couldn't fly. They can pick up any object with the force and as Yoda quite rightly states, Size matters not. All they'd have to do is concentrate and pick themselves up. Though they'd never be able to focus enough to fight or do anything interesting at the same time.

They can't fly, but i guess they can force bounce on things.
