View Full Version : Your ideal version of GTA4

Okay.. I don't know if anyone's ever done this, but GTA4 is coming up soon, and if you were put in charge of everything from casting the voices to choosing the city and era (60's or 70's, etc.) to selecting the types of vehicles in the game, what would you put in there?

Here's mine...

The Cast

The Main Character- Giovanni Ribisi
The Main "Bad Guy"- James Caan
The Bad Guy's Main Squeeze- Eva Mendes

Supporting Cast

Benicio Del Toro
Brendan Gleeson
Harvey Keitel
Delroy Lindo
John Lone
Nia Long
Chazz Palminteri
Vincent Pastore
Ron Rifkin
Martin Scorsese
Tony Sirico
Joe Viterelli
Isaiah Washington
Donnie Yen
Jay Z

The Setting

The City: Sin City (aka Las Vegas)- Yeah, I know that they still haven't done San Andreas, but they could BRING BACK THE ELVIS IMPERSONATORS!!! They could also pattern this game after "Casino" just like Vice City was patterned after "Scarface."
The Era: Present Day

The Types of Vehicles

Pretty much everything we've seen so far, but we need some cooler looking bikes. However, there's one thing that I thought was missing in GTA3 and GTA: Vice City. Maybe it's just me, but I think it would be awesome if they could incorporate some of the stuff from "Midnight Club" and put a little spunk into the street racing missions. I think that we should have the option of building the most badass car in town, choosing everything from paint to tires, and then jacking it up with NOS. Now that would just be awesome, and it could also help the player escape from the law as well as evening the odds a little on the street racing missions. The only downside would be that after the player has created the most awesome car around, they still run the risk of destroying their dream vehicle.

It would also be cool if you could have some better hand-to-hand combat, maybe go and get trained so you could customize your character into a better fighter. I would also like to be able to dodge bullets better (although no bullet time please).

Feel free to pitch in your own ideas...

It won't be on 'cube - but maybe Nintendo will release Grandtheft Auto 3 and VC as release games to their N5 console?

They might release it on the next console, only if R* decides to put any of their games onto a Ninty console

And they'll decide to do that only the 'N5' is popular enough. Which, even though i'm a pure Ninty fanboy, I don't see happening.

I have heard that R* is considering making it online playable for the PS2.

IMO they should make an online only version of GTA, a separate game based entirely online

You'll find R* did ask Nintendo if they could put it on the cube - however, because Nintendo had unfortunatly established a kiddy feel to NGC, they didn't want to damage it's clean image.

So in the end, only X-box got the remake of the games. However, Nintendo know what they got wrong with 'cube, and their target audience for the next console will be teens/adults - so expect heavy, violent games on the release.

I don’t think that’s entirely true, They knew they had something other than a kiddies console, hence they got Resident Evil as an exclusive, they are some of the most mature games made, and GC made them even gorier and scarier….
IMO, R* know that putting things on the cube may not be such a great idea, hence no Midnight Club, No Max Payne, No State Of Emergency, all of these games by R* and none of them appear (or have had any plans to ever) on the cube.
So IMO Rockstar never approached Nintendo about putting GTA (or any of their other games) on the cube.

But in fact, they did. They weent to both Ninty and Microsoft. But as Nintendo said in a press-release afterwards, they didn't feel it was neccessary to have R* games on their console, and certainly not GTA.

If that is true (Haven’t seen any evidence proving it) then there is no more explanation needed as to why Nintendo are slowly turning belly up in the Console market, that was a very bad move on their behalf, Although I don’t see why Nintendo would turn down the offer of having 2 of the biggest selling games ever on their (failing) console, and it’s not because it would ruin the “kiddy image” as that was lost when Resi 1 was released on GC

Old thread, but I don't think it got a fair shake....

I like the Sin City idea...but I was thinking about the San Andreas rumours too...

think of the flicks set in LA-
LA Confidential
Traffic
Pulp Fiction
Lethal Weapon
Chinatown
Boyz in the Hood
Heat
Rising Sun
The Terminator

and it would also include San Francisco:
Dirty Harry
Bullitt
The Rock

and that's just off the top of my head.

I'd love John Lone doing a voice...we are also due Del Toro...I think he'd be up for it....

how about Christopher Walken?
Joe Pesci is a gimme
Chris Penn
Tim Roth
Ice-T
Steve Buscemi
Gil Gerrard

And Lee Majors as a returning "Big" Mitch Baker. :)

or would Phil be back for a another turn?

I don't know about stories and stuff, but as far as gameplay goes...

Well just keep everything they offered us in Vice City, improve the graphics, and add atleast 2 or 3 more cities. That would be freakin awsome. Not to mention that's a lot of gameplay hours if each city took as long as the Vice City one took.

I was a Nintendo junkie from the beginning. I had the NES, I had the Super Nintendo, the N64, and yes, as soon as it came out...

I *had* a gamecube...but a funny thing happened...I kept noticing how fewer and fewer people were making games for Nintendo...how games I wanted to play like GTA III and VC were only on PS2 and then PC/X-Box...

So after years of loyalty I'm convinced. I wouldn't take anything for my PS2.

I wish I had bought the Playstation 2 2 years ago...I would have been happier. I purchased the GTA double pack with my PS2, and I'm still playing both a month later. (although I made the mistake of playing VC first, and I'm spoiled by the bikes, helicopters and going inside buildings.)

If I could add anything to GTA, open up all the buildings....like the Sims gone bad...have a more realized full immersed world...

I guess GTA Next is being reported as early as October now...(still November on some sites) but it will take advantage of the Hard Drive add-on that's coming out with FFXI in March....

I can't wait.

actually have the ability to build your own buildings. In other words you buy a preselected bit of land that is empty and at a certain point in the game when the main character is getting into the big bucks and power he can building a few buildings.

The key thing is variety. You could select from lets say 10 different model buildings and be able to put them anywhere in the city. Which would make your city unique and all that fun crap. Also it wouldnt just be built over night, it would actually take a couple of months (in the game time)

Also instead of having an empty bit of land to build, you could always sabatoge/burn down other buliding

Motorcycles for Cops... just supe up the moped, make it all white with a huge windsheild, boom you've got a Cop bike.

Also, I want freaking randomness in what cars are on road. The game just runs cycles, at certain times of the day there can be 50 bikes on the road but no other car... but then in other parts of the day not a single bike. Same goes for each and every other car. Instead of going through different car cycles just put them all on the road, and make certain cars more rare, more common, only certain cars can be seen in certain areas etc etc

Mogul- the Hard drive will let you rip your own music for the game.

Dark- I'd love the own builging er...building...heck, I'd settle for "walk into a building and take it over" *G*

and I added some more names to the voice list: Powers Boothe, Michael Ironside, Ron Pearlman

I dont know about the building building idea.....
This is GTA not Simcity.

I like the idea of taking over a building, Die Hard style.

Kobolos
02-18-2004, 09:12 AM
that's what I'm thinking...."property assessment complete" like the Diaz/Vercetti mansion take-over... on a citywide scale...then you'd really own the city....literally....

plus i think that if you got money of the building that it went straight into your account.....the amount of time i have spent flying back and forth getting that damned money :

The next GTA is supposed to have Eminem and 50 cent, thatll be cool.

spiderman_2k
02-20-2004, 08:10 PM
No that will suck, That is not the next GTA Game at all, that is something to do with Rockstar buying the rights to use them in there own game or something like that, There was an article about it in a magazine I have somewhere, I will find it later and tell you exactly what it is.

Inval1d

GTA with 50 cent and Eminem would suck seriously bad. The next GTA should still be in the past like 80s or something. But if it's in 2000's, They should have music like in GTA3.

OK I have something to add on the subject of the next GTA game. I was playing THUG yesterday when I came across a buggy in the "Hotter Than Hell" level and immediately the thought hit me " wouldn't it be great if it was in GTA?" I mean everything's there in the level that reminds me of playing GTA and there's even a part where you can jump over helicopters as in GTA 3

I hope not, Isn't that more of a Miami thing?

And VC was basically Miama..
