View Full Version : Batman Vs. Spiderman

Who do you think would win? Batman or Spiderman? Personally, I say Spiderman! Batman is pretty good, but he can't compare with Spidey's strength and agility. Plus Spidey has his spider-sense, which can warn him about any of Batman's gadgets and if Batman tries to attack him in the dark! :)
What do you think?

I'm going to have to say Batman. Brains beats braun anyday. Batman would study Spiderman's weaknesses and find an way to beat him. I'm a bigger fan of Spiderman, but Batman is pretty tough.

Batman.
There are ways around Spidey's powers.
Take his Spidey-sense for example:
There is an issue of the rarely read "What if?" where the Punisher actually kills Spider-man. He made a dummy of Doc Ock and filled it with explosives, so it would naturally trigger Spidey's Spidey-sense, and by the time Spidey realized it was a trap, BOOM!, it was too late.
Yeah, I know you can say, but it was in "What If?" so it doesn't matter or it's possible it couldn't happen or whatever. But it just an example.

Besides "What if The Punisher Killed Spider-man?" my favorite was "What if Venom Had Possessed The Punisher?"
They had a great combo of the Venom logo and The Punisher skull.

IMO, thats exactly why Spiderman would win...b/c he has brains AND braun. hes just as smart as Batman i think and he studies his opponents just as much, which it is usually using his brain that he finally beats them ;)

I'd take Batman. He's a pretty angry guy, down deep. Spidey's always been a bit of a flake. He'd have Batman on the ropes and stop to make some zany remark and Batman would jam a Bat-a-rang through his skull or something.

Batman, hands down because he does Martial Arts, he's trained his whole life for this sort of thing and he won't be taken down by some little **** who's voice has just broken
Batman also has the 'fear factor' working for him, he's like a dark urban legend whereas Spider man is just some wanker in a red suit

WTF? Spiderman! Easily... very easily... DC gives Batman too much props... and even though it's a comic book it unrealistic! Batman couldn't lay a glove on Spiderman...
If Batman was to stand a chance against Spiderman he would have to have a week to come up with a plan... but if they just randomly met in a dark alley? 5 seconds and Spiderman would KO him...
I don't think batman should be able to beat Captain America unless like I previously stated he had a day or two to prepare... if he didn't know he had to fight Captain America until 5 seconds before... Captain America would beat him too... not easily... but he'd win...

I can't vote. Because it's all about the fabled 'prep time.'
If Bats is just out in Gotham and Spidey swoops down on him out of the blue, the best Batman could hope for would be to escape to fight another day.
BUT, if Bruce has time to study up on Spidey, he'd find a way to kick his webbed @$$ all over Gotham.
Goldboy

BUT, if Bruce has time to study up on Spidey, he'd find a way to kick his webbed @$$ all over Gotham.
Not quite true. Even if for Batman a master plan fell into place just so, Spiderman still has a good chance of coming out of it woithout a scratch-he is simply too quick and his danger sense would warn him off ambushes and traps. He would approach and then start to feel very uneasy and back off. It would be incredibly frustrating to watch him do that for every trap and ambush you laid!!! Lightning reflexes would help Spiderman where speed is a factor.
spiderman_2k
12-16-2004, 09:02 PM
Spider-Man would win simply because he is a "super"hero...He has superpowers which help him in fighting, his Spider-Sense means he could dodge every trap, every trick and every punch thrown at him by Bats...Spidey is flexible, quick and fast, his punches are very strong, Batman wouldn't last long at all.
Kyle Katarn
12-17-2004, 05:59 PM
Unless Bats managed to neutralize his Spidey sense somehow...he could duplicate Mysterio's fog perhaps (I seem to remember it blocking his Sipder-sense)? Or for a real fun story, Bats could 'persuade' Eddie Brock to let him 'borrow' his symbiote? :D

Bats has beaten Supes several times, what makes me think he won't figure out a way to beat Spidey?
spiderman_2k
12-17-2004, 09:17 PM
Supes has an obvious and pretty big weakness, get Kryptonite near him and he goes down, but Spidey doesnt have anything like that, he has no weakness against a man, Bats couldnt lay a blow on him in a fight and Spideys punches are strong enough for it to be a quick fight.
Mr.MIKe
12-17-2004, 09:37 PM
Guess your right, but why are we comparing a SUPER hero with a vigilante anyways? It isin't fair for Bats.
Spiderman because he has powers and Batman doesn't. Plus Spiderman has enhanced strength.

well if you look at the difference between Marvel and DC then it is fair... DC (even though it's comics) is unrealistic... Batman has beaten (and I'm not making this up) Superman, the Hulk (yes it was a crossover), White Martians (as powerful as the Martian Manhunter) and damn the near the whole freaking X-men (it was a weak version in that stupid Amalgam crossover book)... He also beat Captain America and the Punisher... it only took him one punch to beat the Punisher... get freaking real!

I think you'll find that Batman is by far the more intelligent of the two. In the Dark Knight Returns, superman is sent to take out batman by the government. However, Batman simulates kryptonite and defeats superman whilst simultaneously faking his own death and avoiding a nuclear strike. Has spiderman ever pulled off such genius??
Montecarlo
05-07-2006, 02:54 AM
what? I'm not even a fanatic of commics but from what I've read and seen is so obious.. Batman could toy around with spiderman. I mean look at the facts at least the ones i know from the movies.. Spider is a frut who won't even do his girl because hes to afreid she'll get hurt by his enemies, and allows his enemies to take control of the situation by taking hostages, and he seams hes not allways sure what 2 do. Batman in the other hand is a shycological genious besides all of hes weapons (wich is what really doctor octopus and green gablen pratically use to allmost kill spiderman) batman beats his enemies by getting in their heads. Even if spiderman were to jump on top of him out of the blue, batman with none of his nockout gas, electrifying bat looking trowing nives, or razor whaever. Batman woulg just bluff like he always does (he's a great actor as well), he'd be like ur uncle ben wouldn't aprove and ur aun whats hername is gona die a horryble death or something idk i'm no batman but bruce is and he'd just **** with spidy's brain. Batman has nothing to lose that's what makes him such a badass, his brain is unpenetrable and dark, he doesn't give a **** about how people feel he just does what he needs to at what ever the cost. spidy could be a superman with no cryptonite weakness and batman would still have him in his knees crying about his fears... now is batman really needed spiderman dead for what ever the reason and had an hour of preparation time he'd just make an instant poison or paraliser that could just be inserted easily with a small shart blade or nidle. Spiderman can be fast strong or whatever but he'd have to get near batman to kill him, or is he gona kill him with spyder webs, and knowing batman he'd probably plan on getting restrictic and just make the poinson automaticly pinch spyder when he's near, his sking is not unpenetralbel.. i've seen spideyman bleed and pluss batman would just need to say "hey kid your aunt is dead" and in that secont that spider would stop to think "weit what" he'd be dead. Fear is the bigest weekness and all heros have it because of there loved ones execpt Batman! Brains is the bigest weapon and batman has the most amo of it simply because he's a detective, actor, tecnician, historyan, and oh pretymuch all that matters so i think Batman could do what ever he'd want unless u know a meteor falls in his head or something in wich case it'd be really bad luck... allright thats enuff i feel like this is overdoing it but really batman is the most badest of the badasses!! well that killd my bordom...for a min. there..

Well its better than having to post another comment about how clever Batman is and how he can beat even Superman.
I thought as this is a comic book thread, people would actually have read some and know that stuff. Nevermind.
If fight was hand to hand, Spidey would of course rip his head off. But truth is Batman wouldnt do a fair fight and he'd have leverage on Spidey, somethin to tip balance in his favour.

this is what wizard has to say:
THE PLAYERS: After watching a mugger murder his parents, young Bruce Wayne embarked on a one-man war on crime, prowling the night as the brooding vigilante Batman!
Given superpowers from a radioactive spider bite, Peter Parker learned a harsh lesson about power and responsibility and now fights evil as the amazing Spider-Man!
THE BATTLE: On assignment in Gotham City for the Daily Bugle, photographer Peter Parker goes on some late-night web swinging and comes across Batman roughing up a thug. “Hey, tall, dark and gruesome—ix-nay on the eating-bay,” Spidey quips as he drops to the alleyway beside the Dark Knight. Batman ignores him. “I guess those big ears of yours are just for show,” Spider-Man opines as he webs up Batman’s fist, preventing him from striking the criminal. Suddenly, the wall-crawler’s spider-sense warns him of danger, and he leaps onto a nearby wall just in time to avoid a cluster of Batarangs. In the confusion, Batman deploys a smoke grenade that quickly envelops the entire alleyway. “Get out of my city,” Batman growls from inside the inky black cloud. “But I haven’t even seen the sights yet,” Spider-Man retorts as he sprays webbing in a vain attempt to snare the vigilante. Batman drops from the rooftop onto Spidey’s back, sending them both tumbling into the smoke-filled alley. Disoriented, Spider-Man blindly lashes out, landing a glancing blow that nearly takes the Caped Crusader’s head off. Knowing that he has to put Spider-Man down fast, Batman—moving too quickly for the Web-head to dodge—lands a nerve punch to the amazing arachnid’s solar plexus. “Feel free to surrender anytime,” Spidey groans as he falls to the ground, unconscious and defeated!

Hmm... all right, while Batman has beaten Superman in the comics in the past (which, even though it's a fiction based realm, is still quite a stretch), I don't think Batman could touch Spider-Man. Superman loses because of his one true weakness - kryptonite. Spider-Man doesn't have any weaknesses that Batman could not only exploit, but couldn't hurt himself with in the process. Things like bullets would be avoided with the whole spider-sense power, Spidey is too quick for other weapons, etc.
They're both very smart, and are the best at what they do. I don't know, Spider-Man is pretty much Batman without the gadgets, but with superpowers. I've gotta vote for Spider-Man.

Batman obviously. Spiderman is strapped down to the powers he was gifted with (cursed.) Batman can do whatever he wants with a little bit of prep time. Also spidey lets his feelings get the beter of him and he also takes mercy. He would tie bats up and let the police deal with him whereas Batman would just kill spidey like that! by the way I'm clicking my finger in real life butyou cant see so im telling you im clicking my finger coz you cant so im...

Spider-Man, no question.
Furthermore; You can give Batman some help by adding Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, and Huntress, and Spidey would hand them all their collective asses....at the same time.
Spidey rolled all over the X-Men during the original Secret War, and each one of them has a super power. At the end of the day, all the Bat family are is a bunch of costumed athletes.
Spider-Man would embarrass the Bat crew without even breaking a sweat, imo.
The Question
08-13-2006, 01:01 PM
This is a tough question. Spider-Man's powers do give him a major adcantage. Now, Batman does have his brains, but Spidey is hardly stupid. His sheer experiance has made him a very good tactitian and amature detective. Now, most will say that the main clincher is Spidey's Spider Sense. I would agree, but there are was to get around the Spider Sense. You see, Spider-Man senses danger, but he doesn't know what it is. Batman could feign a punch and then kick Spidey in the nuts. However, that's based entirely upon their prior knowlege of one another. And Spider-Man has faced villains as tactically brilliant as Batman but with super powers to back them up. So, I'd say Spidey.

firstly obviously in strength maybe spiderman would win.....secondly you have to take into consideration that batman is still human and its an unfair fight....lets just say bruce wayne got bitten by the radio active spider while he was batman......then who would kick whose ass?
Oh and batman would find out easily that spidey is parker and wud destroy him financially....
ps batman is more original than spiderman a better comic book character and has way better story lines. And also batmans arch nemesis is the joker.....who is the ultimate villain....
The real question is, why would they fight in the first place? Cuz that would mean a lot.

yall niggas dont understand, spiderman is just like batman, they both swing, both are hated by public, both have horrible lives, yet one has a poor life while the other one doesnt, like someone said before... what if batman got bit by a radio active spider huh? who would win then? how about i say what if spiderman was a billionaire and had cool gadgets like batman what about then huh? lets not go to the what ifs... go to the main raw facts, what they each have now and dont say use that what if bull****. Spider-man would beat batman, and it would be a close call, spiderman got spidey senses, strength, and brains... i mean he was a geek right? so how ppl cgonna say bruce wayne is brains while spidey isnt, if anytyhing, spidey is more smarter just that their methods of using their wisdom is different. spiderman would kill batman. i mean batman has boomerangs, smoke bombs, bombs and punnches and kicks, while spidey has kicks punches that are better than his, hes stronger, and hes also smarter than himm, if not then smart as him. also spidey got his senses and stuff. so please stop the bull****ting because well all know spidey is the king of marvel where batman is the king of DC, but spidey would kick batmans ass and batman would have his ass handed over to him.

besides he's a billionare unlike spiderman...........................
Spider-man is stronger, he can bench press 100,000 pounds! If he didn't pull his punch, the person would splatter open! He would play around with batman, you know, with his acrobatics, and his amazing tricks. He doesn't need weapons, he is very strong and very manuverable, he would kick batmans ass!

I have had this conversation before with friends, so I will repost my comments on the matter:
Here's how it breaks down:
Batman has more training (though not more experience) in fighting, but generally fights normal humans. Batman has enormous wealth which grants him top-notch weaponry. But keep in mind, he is still just a man.
Spider-Man is 15 times faster than a normal human, and by my estimates in the neighborhood of 200 times stronger than an average man (so allowing for Batman's peak conditioning, he's still at least 50 times stronger which is for all intents and purposes infinitely stronger), and posesses a supernatural sense that basically allows him to dodge bullets. Last but not least, do not underestimate the potency of the webshooter. Between being able to yank himself out of a situation with them, yank things toward him with them, and gumming up any people or things, they are among the most useful weapons in comic book lore.
As for intelligence, Peter Parker is a genius in his own right. He is not the master tactician that Bruce Wayne is but he's no dummy - Batman has no serious advantage there by my estimation.
When we talk about "who would win in a fight", we have to be careful. We're not talking about a scenario that is set up in whatever preconditions the story calls for. We are basically talking about a prearranged match - as far as I'm concerned locale is irrelevant. No one gets the drop on the other and they know what the stakes are.
In short in a REAL fight, based on the abilities of the combatants, with none of the baggage the characters carry (Spider-Man generally pulling punches against human opponents, for example), Spider-Man would separate Batman's head from his body with a single punch. I'm sure Batman could attempt something interesting with his gadgetry but the simple fact is he wouldn't be able to touch Spider-Man, as fast as he is. Batman probably wouldn't even have enough time to mount any real defense, as he'd be dead too quickly. It's really not even a contest.

Batman - he's just more of what I want in a male Hero. And if you can pull a cape off, you can do anything!

Batman beats all.
It comes down to what is Batman ready for. ANYTHING, he preps himself for anything all day everyday. So anytime anywhere he has had his prep time. He also fights super powered people all the time. He beat Cap'n America. We all know that Cap'n can tear up Spidey. Spidey gets cocky and thats his big weakness. Batman uses every possible thing against his oppenants. Psychology, surroundings, situation, weakness, gadgets, and his fighting skills.
You say spider-man would break Bat's face with a punch. Spidey always pulls his punches. Also come on! Batman wouldn't be dumb enough to get in a full brute battle with Spiderman. Bat's beat the Hulk. There is your strength arguement right there. But not by fighting him with his martial arts. He won because of his intelligence. Also Peter Parker is way way dumber than Bruce Wayne. Wayne has multiple degrees from universities while Parker is a smart kid who just went into college and the coolest thing he can do is make webshooters. Batman beats anyone.

coolest thing he can do? he designed that web like fluid, he had to make sure it dissolved after a couple hours so they werent hanging all over the place all the time. All he can do? your vote should be stricken from the record. all those in favor of spiderman are correct, this is the easiest battle ever.

In the real world spiderman wouldnt even exist because he wouldnt have superpowers. Plus i think Batman has alot more experience than spidey and knows how to defeat his opponent. The best think about batman is that he is Mortal and could actually exist in real life with his gadgets. And DC would kick Marvels ass any day of the week

Batman. I remember when these two met. Spidey seemed kind of intimidated by him. Besides, Batman beat Superman. I love Spidey but I know he'd get creamed.

Spidey would win. He's got ten times the strength, speed, and agility, his webs are like steel, and he can sense Batman's attacks. Batman may be smart, but Spidey doesn't have any immediate weaknesses the Bat can take advantage of. Unless being emotionally crippled counts as a weakness.
I'm picturing this in a boxing ring, though, so it's just standard hand-to-hand combat with whatever tools the characters normally bring. None of this "Batman goes home and builds a Bat-Spider-Sense-Blocker Device" crap. Unless he's Adam West. Then he already has one.

Batman, mainly because I have never been a Spiderman fan.
But if you want a theory....Batman makes it his business to know how to take down every member of the Justice League in case they are compromised by the enemy. He'll figure out Spidey's weakness and use it against him (everyone has a weakness, Scorpio, otherwise they are a boring Superhero). Spiderman isn't cutthroat enough to beat Batman's tactics.

Hmmm this is a close one, considering that I'm a fan of both. Spider-Man has mutliple notches up against Batman. For one Spider-Man has super powers that allow him to see anything and do anything to stop anyone. His superpowers on a scale to other superheroes are kind of limited but still. Batman has the equipment and the will to do stuff that Spider-Man won't be able to do. Batman also knows people that could help him defeat certain weaknesses of Spider-Man.
I'm gonna say a tie-

Well if they fight twice, then it would be Batman first, then Spider-Man would figure out how to win and beat him the 2nd time.

I think I'd be rooting for Batman, with doubts about Spidey beating him...if was answering this a month ago.
But I just finished reading The Dark Knight Returns, and WARNING I'M ABOUT TO SPOIL IT...I find it hard to imagine a super-strong teenager beating a tough, grown man who defeated The Man of Steel as an old, almost crippled man. I'm pretty sure Batman would find some way of defeating Spider-Man, no matter how many times they fought. I'm sorry...but if you can beat Superman as an old, sick man, then you can certainly beat almost anybody.
As much as I'm a fan of Spidey...the Dark Knight would win. I might've been a bit doubtful before, but now I'm pretty sure it's nigh impossible to beat the Batman.
...Of course, there's always this:

The only reason why Batman has to do so much thinking is because its his way out of everything, he can not do much him self without powers. The writers have to come up with a story that supports his lack of powers so they come up with him being able to figure out attacks but that is all. That is what keeps him probable in that kind of world and since he is basically human in his. Since he is in between the real world where we are now and his own Gothom world the action environment is down to gadgets and thinking like a detective with some high end human fighting which is not enough against real super powered beings. If The Batman comics want to figure out ways and take its time over a combat like a war statagy then so be it, only because he has to hind behind that otherwise he is beat.
Marvel comics are not afraid to show their characters get beaten its all part of the universe.

If these characters existed and acted and moved the exact way they do in comics, Batman would win. I mainly say that because of the experience and training he's had. Not to mention that he's much more serious than Spidey who tends to get beaten a lot because of him being such a jokester.

Spiderman would be too busy whining about his powers to fight.
So Batman.
