Coming in December…The 3rd Annual CS Awards!
This year I have decided to alter the method of this awards ceremony. I’m starting a bit early, to start on a schedule. From here on out, I will hold one ceremony in December, and one ceremony in mid-June. Here are the new categories (with explanations for their relevance). Please forgive me for the Oscar motif, I’m trying it out. If it doesn’t work, the same awards will stay.
Best Picture (Best Thread)
Best Actor (Best CSer who posts frequently (i. e. cg, Balrog, Jibbs, etc.) or someone who is well loved her but doesn’t go on posting rampages (skink or TyRoss come to mind)
Best Actress (same as above)
Best Supporting Actor (for a Cser who would fit in the above category, but who doesn’t post as much as others)
Best Supporting Actress (same as above)
Best Director (Person who has the best taste in film)
Best Original Screenplay (Best Writer of Fan Fictions)
Best Screenplay Based on Something Previously Published or Written (Best Signature)
Best Short Film (Best Fan Fiction)
Costume Design (best dressed (see Frizzo’s Foto Album and the pertinent thread)
Cinematography (person who picks the best pictures for Pick-A-Pic)
Casting (Best caster in CS Cast-A-Film)
Set Design (Best Avatar)
Best Foreign Film (Best poster from a foreign country. By foreign I’m assuming it to be non-American, as most of us (it seems) live in the U. S. If anyone has a problem with this, feel free to tell me.)
Cecil B. DeMille Award (honorary award)
Best Score (person who has the best taste in music)
Best Editor (Best Moderator/Administrator)
The Richard Cranium Award (Worst Poster [must be someone who has been banned, to prevent any hurt feelings])
Best Ensemble (Best Clique or Couple)
Best Comedy (Funniest Poster)
Best Newcomer (Best Newbie) (must be someone who came between the start date of the last awards and these awards)
And some additional awards for which I could not find a gimmicky connection:
Best Custom Titles
Best Taste in Literature
Spammy Award (for the spammiest of the spammers)
Most Missed Poster
Best Artwork
I think that’s all. It’s a lot, but I had a burst of inspiration.
To pick the nominees, I have decided to steal the idea from one of my favorite film festivals, Cannes, and use a jury. Since this is the first one, I will be president. It means nothing, except that I have final judgement in any ties in nomination votes. Outside of this, you can request to be a jury member and I will randomly pick. However, if it is possible, I may try to arrange to have at least one mod or admin in the group, to make sure everything runs alright. In the future, the jury will be made up of previous winners. For now, I’m looking at 7 members for the nominating jury. The President will be randomly picked as well.
After this, the votes will be PM’ed to me, and I will keep a record of them. The awards will happen in mid-December, preferably during the Break, but that’s only tentative. I’m looking into trying to do something similar to what Ty did with the Reelies; however, I don’t think I’ll be able to re-create the perfection of that award ceremony.
Well, that’s all. Sorry if I bored you. Remember to post it if you want to be part of the jury. One more thing: please don’t share your votes with anyone. Thanks, and that’s all. :)
PS: If I don't get more than 7 applicants in 7-10 days or so, then I'll just go with what I have.

Hey CK, it sounds like an interesting plan but if you don't a couple of tips...
I personally think that the award for best Cast-a-Film and Pick-a-Pic idea is a bad one. Not very many people go to those threads. It's usually the same group of ten or so.
My second thought is to not make as big of production of it as the Reelies. The Reelies applied to the entire board and this really only applies to about 70 or so people.
Other than that, I think it's an interesting idea and will be anxious to see how it turns out.

Duly noted. Said changes will be made. As for the Reelies, I probably worded that wrong. I want to do a few things like that ceremony, but I’m definitely not going to make it that big. I just don’t have the time. I may consider having jury members present awards if they want to, but I would set a schedule beforehand, so I wouldn’t have to run it at the time. Also, no host.
Also: I’m prepared to pick the jury. But before such nominations are made, I need to know if anyone else is interested. Specifically, I’d like to know if some of the people who have given me suggestions (and thank you kindly, by the way), such as slinger and Idaho, are interested in jury service. Thanks.

Ok. It looks like there were seven people, not including those who I’m not sure about. So I guess there’s no need for a draw. Anyway, the jury is made up of the following people, for sure.

There seems to be a bit of confusion. The jury chooses the nominees, and everyone else votes on the nominees that the jury agreed upon.

here it is... i have like 5000 free weekend minutes and 600 free daytime... and I always go over my daytime minutes and every minute that goes over 600... its like 40 cents... and it piles up on the bill... thats what i meant with going over minutes...
