It's loooooooooooong and doesn't exactly keep the readers interest, because the writer goes on for whole paragraphs what could be best described in just a few words.
I've read the first book but I felt it wasn't worth it to dedicate a considerable amount of my time to read the rest.

I read it a long time ago, and it was good, but Robert Jordan doesn't know when to end the series!!
Strong start... but it'll never end.
Read the A Song of Fire and Ice series by George R. R. Martin... it's only 3 books so far (fourth releases next year) and their pretty long, but they have much better pacing than the Jordan novels.

I've read every single book thats out so far .. :o
I've read the whole series twice, and I'm wondering how in the hell RJ is going to finish it. I agree that he spends far too long on certain issues. And he states the same stuff over and over, like how the men feel about the women or vice versa. Total redundancy. Still, I like the books. They pass the time. ;)

I was absolutely captured by these books when I read them a few months ago. Nothing better to make a three day Amtrack trip from Seattle to Boston interesting... ;)
I can't wait for the 4th.
Their amazing reads. I can't believe I got so caught up into them. The plot was very intricate and was paced very well. Martin sure wasn't afraid of killing off characters either in unexpected suprises. Plus he didn't romanticize anything... though it was a bit tiresome about reading about "manhoods" and such every other chapter. ;)

Oh geez, killing off characters. After what happened with Eddard I was like, "Oh my god, there is no way I'm going to be able to predict anything."
Manhoods - tiresome? Ya. I guess I was kinda shocked by all of the sex, incest, prostitution, and bloodshed... but looking back on it, I'm even more shocked that it was *my mother* who recommended these books to me!
