I think that there should be a special edition from arnie's Predator. In my mind it was his best film. I really didn't understand a while back they re-released the same version of the film that already existed with only a trailer and a new DTS sound track.
They have released special edition of Terminator, T2, Conan, 6th day, Total Recall, and now it is Predators turn.

Hey dabam69ca! I can happily report to you, that a Predator Special Edition is in the works, and has been in the works for several months (I first heard about the forthcoming Predator Special Edition 6 months ago!) To see the full features, go to this webpage:
<a href="http://www.dvdfile.com/images/box_art/region_4/06_2002_mailer1.jpg" target="_blank">http://www.dvdfile.com/images/box_art/region_4/06_2002_mailer1.jpg</a>
Please note, that these features are the specs for the Australian REGION 4 edition of the movie, so there may not be the same content on the American REGION 1 release, but it´s pretty certain that the two releases will be identical. I can´t wait for this Special Edition either. :) Very entertaining film. It should get a release some time (hopefully) this summer.
That would explain why the DVD of it was on sale for $7.99.

UPDATE:
Yes! This great movie has finally gotten a SPECIAL EDITION re-release. But I have some bad news for all you Americans who are longing for this disc. According to FOX (who told thedigitalbits) the disc WILL NOT be released in the U.S. where there already exists 2 DVD versions of the movie (both bare-bones though, but one with an anamorphic transfer and DTS audio).
But FOX has stated, that if the PREDATOR: SPECIAL EDITION (currently only released in Europe and in Australia) becomes a huge success where it has been released, then they´ll THINK (emphasize on THINK) about also releasing it in the U.S.
I have just ordered it on the net, and I´m hoping that I´ll get it in the mail within the next couple of days. Then I´ll tell you if it was worth the wait.

Okay, I just got this DVD with the mail this morning. I´m really looking forward to watch it.
Now I´ll just have to find somewhere to sell my old Region 1 DVD edition of the movie...

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!! They HAVE to release it it Region 1.
I have the first DVD version of it and it sucks hell. They didn't even touch up the sound.
I just watched it again last night and went to bed dreaming of a special edition.
How could they not release something like that to Region 1. Would seem like they are saying no to more money.
AUGH - I want it!!!

Fox may have changed their stance on the matter. In this Dec 2002 chat, (http://www.hometheaterforum.com/files/staddon2002.txt) a rep said possibly mid-2003. Probably won't happen (:D ), but at least they were thinking about it.

Region-Free. Very hard to come by in the US. My DVD consists mainly of Region-1 DVDs, but also a lot of Region-2 DVDs and just a handful of Region-3, Region-4 and Region-0 DVDs.
