After years of outstanding performances in low-budget films Johnny Depp has hit gold twice this year with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and Once Upon a time in Mexico. Let's hope that this year the Oscar's notices Mr. Depp.

JOHNNY DEPP
For Oscar Considerations as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean and Agent Sands in Once Upon a time in Mexico

I think after the controversial things he said about America..(Which i believe was misquoted) He might be "bumped aside" at the oscars..which sucks..IMO

He was misquoted and people have forgotten about that already. With some good campaign by Sony and Disney he might get nominated.

yea thats not really created much of a stir - I havent heard about it outside of these boards. it shouldnt hinder him even if it is true.

But POTC and Once apon a time in mexico... are hardly likely to win him best actor nominations.

Disney is making plans to mount an Oscar campaign for Depp's swashbuckling performance in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. "Absolutely we are!," a Disney executive tells Los Angeles Daily News. "He created something dynamic and original, and every single review raved about him."

It makes me sick!!! Politics, popularity and studiofinancing is what oscar depends of??!!!! He was great in "Pirates" so I dont care what he was saying about any politician (right now, he can't say anything bad enough to describe Bush&Co) or the political situation at all!!! ****ing "blacklist"! I would invite all those suckers to my place and let them meet my little friend!!!

Johnny Depp should get a nod atleast. They just have to decide on which movie to nominate him for.

Well, Disney is already starting a campaign for him. It's up to Sony if they want to campaign for him in his role as Agent Sands.

Depp will never win an Oscar for Sparrow, and the beauty of it all is, I think he couldn't care less what his so called peers think. Depp is successful on his own terms and that is reward enough.

He might get a Golden Globe for comedy, but the part, as well as the whole movie, isn't up to Oscar standards.

brad pitt was nominated for his role in snatch, which was every bit as odd as the role of CAPTIAN jack sparrow......
