What do you make of his latest "performance" - being suspended in a small glass box near londons tower bridge for 40 days or so. Surviving only on water.
Whilst its hardly the most interesting idea ever, I have been ammused by the stories of people coming down and sitting in front of him and just eating big meals to anoy him and his over zealous security guards, and the laser pointing, the eggs thrown at him and the golfballs etc. And the latest one - getting a remote control helicopter to suspend a hamburger in front of his face.
With any luck he will come out in a couple weeks - completely insaine talking nothing but giberish although he does that alot anyway.

This is the stupiest thing that he could possibly do, I think this guy is suicidal. You cant go that long without food even if you have water. When they get him out I wouldnt be surprised if he was serverly near death.

this is a yawnable idea to me,
he has done more interesting thing then this,
oh and humans can live a very long time without food!

The worst thing about David Blaine is the fact that he knows how to get out of boxes.
The Moose

yeah, which can make this a bit suspicious

How does he do his...buisness
The Moose
09-13-2003, 08:37 PM
he has a toilet in the bok with him. that's probably the way that other things make their way up to him. there wouldn't be much of a crord in the middle of the night. he cuold take his blanket over to the toilet, and then take stuff out, eat it, and no one would be the wiser

They have said that he uses a cathder to use the restroom and he has a small tube feeding him water. This isn't the best stunt he has ever pulled but when te special air on TV I will definetly watch it. This guys is absolutely amazing.

There's a site where you can watch him 24-7, but you have to subscribe. Booo! Here's the site anyways:

There's news and stuff, so knock yourself out.

I heard somewhere that people are starting to throw things at the box like eggs and stuff like that.
The Moose
09-14-2003, 03:56 AM
yep. that was true. people were also eating whuge meals right infront of the box

ha ha just like i said - in the very first post. - sigh -
As for his buisness apparently he wears a nappy and throws them out to his support team when ever he has to.

I think it's all rediculous and stupid...I never really liked Davin Blane...he's too boring never exciting....and as Todd said "yawnable"
sphericthor
09-14-2003, 06:27 AM
The strange thing is that you can watch it all live on TV 24/7, it is the most boring thing ever and I think he's lost the plot now
Rebecca
09-14-2003, 06:30 AM
umm Thor,he never had a plot.....he's always sucked at whatever he did.sorry but that's the way i feel about him....
sphericthor
09-14-2003, 06:34 AM
Well I suppose that's true Rebecca, if someone wants to go through all that stuff then there's something missing in their brain

David Blane is a great street magician. His tricks are done flawlessly, and he is extremely entertaining to watch. But his performance art isn't anything great.
tedward
09-15-2003, 09:55 AM
Hes good - but he cant compare himself to Houdini, which he likes to do.
I never saw the big deal with this trick. I know I guy who has gone way longer without eating, while living in a box... I mean he's a homeless bum, but that's besides the point.

The real "art" is in the crowd reaction.
Someone was just arrested for trying to cut the cable that was keeping the box in mid air. :)

I was watching TV earlier and they showed a clip of David slapping his head off the box, it was hilarious

This article was posted by Reuters on Yahoo this morning.
LONDON (Reuters) - American illusionist David Blaine faced the severest attempt yet to derail his planned 44 days' fast in a glass box suspended from a crane in London.
A man climbed nearby scaffolding early Tuesday and tried to cut through water pipes and power cables attached to the box, police said.
The man spent half an hour trying to sabotage Blaine's bid before climbing down.
Police said a 40-year-old man was arrested for causing criminal damage.
Since the 30-year-old New Yorker began his isolation challenge 10 days ago, he has been pelted with eggs, had golf balls driven at him, been taunted by topless women and has had to endure the regular jibes of late-night revelers, many gleefully waving hamburgers at him.
Blaine's previous stunts include being buried alive for a week and being encased in a block of ice for three days.

That's weird because there was nothing about that on the news earlier, the only thing they mentioned was David hitting his head and the radio controlled helicopters with food attached to them

It could have happened in the last few hours and they just posted it now.

I saw on TV how they did that one...they had a room under the ice, and when the guys would go and keep the ice cold making all the smoke they would trade places, so he could eat and sleep...they revealed alot of other magic tricks it was pretty cool. The guy that was doing it covered his face so no one would know who it was.

this is my only source for this info, as we only got him getting into the box on the news here in NZ. nothing else at all

Obviously most of you will never have heard of RI:SE (UK breakfast show) but they were taking the hand out of him this morning by saying that he's not even in the box, but in fact he's in the Bahamas. Because he's an illusionist, what illusion is he doing in there, NOTHING, but for £5million I would do it too

who i spaying him that amount of money?

Has he not collapsed or anything yet?

Nope, he's still sitting in his box perfectly healthy or so they say.

I think this stunt thing is a crock of ****, there's been loads of rumours that he's gonna faint or something and when they're trying to get him out the box falls into the river and he "drowns" but then he "magically" appears somewhere in the crowd fooling everyone, but we all know he's getting food proteins and nutrients through his water pipe!

Yes he's still in there, it's something like Day 22 now so he's half way there. He's suspended approx. 50ft in the air but not over the River Thames, he's beside it.

Blaine is a awesome magician. But this box idea is just boring and stupid.
His 'water' is probably pumped full of calories, carbs, proteins, vitamins and minerals.

I'm more interested in the guy who is doing a marathon on the surface of loch ness (he is also raising more than a million pounds for charity) Blaines stunt is just completely pointless.

I seen that guy on RI:SE this morning, it's gonna take a couple of months to do it. It's the same guy who took 5 days to run the London Marathon in the diver suit

I think it's stupid that Sky are showing it 24/7 using Active, but it's pointless. Who the hell would want to watch a guy sitting in a box? The 9pm updates are enough just to check how long he has been in there but that's about it.

Surely if it was genuine something would of happened by now - hes still sitting normally even waving to passers buy. Surely he shoud be hallucinating terrible things and terrified at the sight of passers buy. I dont know.
Anyway that other "magician" is going to play live rusian roulette on tv tonight.

The Moose
10-05-2003, 05:23 PM
yeah, i agree about the street magic. just had an item about him on the news a few days ago, it's just getting boring
Sorry if this is a spoiler and ruins it for anyone who cares.
The word on the magical underground is that at some point in the stunt Blaine's gonna fake his own death and reappear somewhere in London 3 days later. Part of his "I'm the new Jesus" phase I guess. Plus his thing in the ice was (partly) fake.
