Doesn't that piss you off how the publisists always lie? He was in the hospital a few weeks ago, and the statements were always "He's doing fine. Should make a full recovery in a few weeks"

Ring of Fire is and will always be one of my all time favorite songs.

What can you say about Johnny Cash that hasn't been said multitudes of times? The only thing I can say is that he wasn't just great (the only person I'm aware of to be put into the Country Hall of Fame, the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame, and the Songwriter Hall of Fame- all 3), but he was a true original. In the business of recorded music, there aren't many originals who stay original, but Johnny Cash was truly one of a kind, and there will never be another like him (thank god).
His music supercedes "musical style" boundaries, and his image will live for as long as music lives.
Rest In Peace, oh great Man In Black. You'll be missed, but never forgotten.

Lord,

May he "walk the line" to eternal rest and to entertain the angels as he did to us for so long now... may he never be forgotten... so long Johnny...

Amen

"What have I become....my sweetest freind? Everyone I know goes away in the end. And you could have it all - my empire of dirt. I will let you down - I will make you hurt..."

R.I.P. Johnny - you were a legend for all generations. :(

The country music legend, the only inductee of the Rock & Roll, Country, and Songwriting Hall of Fame, Johnny Cash was by far my late father's favourite singer, and needless to say his music played often at my house - quite often. He did little acting, but I found him to be perfect as a gunslinger, co-starring with Kirk Douglas in A Gunfight (1971). My first ever concert was a Johnny Cash one, and I still remember it after all these years. He had so many great songs, but one is somewhat revealing of him, and that one is Man in Black, which reads in part:

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he's a victim of the times.

That was really weird. I was dling the new Cash album on Thursday, then I heard about him dying on Friday.

My brother said he was watching a 3's Company Marathon too.

Strange coincidences. They were both great too. It's a shame.
