I cant wait for Slipknot's new album that comes out this winter... it will be awesome, i hope. they are weird guys, but funny at the same time. im not a big fan of their music persay, i like thier indy stuff, they actually sang then, but whenever they come to town i get to go backstage. thanks to my freind i have met some pretty interesting people.

i took guitar lessons from mick for 2 years, hes alot better then people are led to beleive. although slipknot uses mostly power chords, he can play some serious solos.

I know, a lot of people diss Slipknot's guitarists and say there not good but as you say Mick is good and i hope maybe that Mick can prove them all wrong on there next album and maybe see him get a solo or 2... i remember seeing Joey Jordinson play a solo at the Pledge Of Alliegence tour in 2001 and he was AWESOME... no one can make fun of Joey cuz hes one of the fastest drummers ive seen. You are so lucky to take guitar lessons from Mick Thompson... man your lucky.

If you want to see some amazingly fast guitar action download a video called "speed kills" off of kazaa. Its Michaelangelo from Nitro playing the most amazing solo ever. And I mean it. The guy looks like hes ****ing posessed or something...

Mick would be a lot cooler playing Heavy Metal instead of Hardcore.

no he is that good, i saw it with my own two eyes. he can play a few yngwie songs. slipknot seriuosly limits his guitar abilities. youll never see how good he can play because slipknot is so riff-oriented.

No... i listen to Slipknot like all the time and they are not Hardcore as you say... they are definetly Heavy Metal... and all the bands you named arent even really Heavy Metal... more Rock & Roll. I believe you would hear Slipknot be refered to as New Metal as a lot of people say... (mostly people who dont like Slipknot say that but whatever.)

i would say slipknot is harcore. i cant even understand a word cory says in his songs. iron maiden and ac/dc are heavy metal. they invented the genre!!!!

New Metal is called new metal because some god damn record executives decided that they wanted to have an answer to the heavy metal underground movement, so they started drafting bands that took Heavy Metal music's melody and destroyed it, leaving only lloud, obnoxious screaming and loud, distorted guitar riffs. This was succesful because teenagers falsely believed that new metal was more masculine than everything else out there, so in an effort to be different and unique they joined thousands of teenagers around the world who listened to the same thing (oh the irony)

Oh and downflow, yngwie is really good. In fact hes right up there with petrucci and satriani. What I meant was that compared to that guy (the one from the video) he is nothing. Seriously, you have to see the video to believe it.

Ac/Dc isnt heavy metal anymore... Metallica is like friggin pop rock now.. they got gay... and Iron Maiden i can admit was Heavy Metal but no AC/DC wasnt to heavy... and Slipknot is no MTV band... they are one of the VERY FEW bands EVER to make it without MTV's help... they had very very brief appearneces through MTV and Slipknot's said screw MTV... and Papa Roach FOR GODS SAKE... NOOOOO they arent any kind of Metal. And come on LINKIN PARK? JESUS they are more rap than anything... they are like Limp Bizkit... a rap/ rock group not metal. All them have MTV ties including Metallica except Slipknot... Slipknot i think can be defined as a Heavy Metal band.
