Confirmed..GTA heading to the X-Box

Rockstar Games announces that it will release a pack containing both Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City on PS2 and Xbox later this year.

Rockstar Games has today announced that it will release a pack containing both Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for PlayStation 2 and Xbox later this year. It's not yet clear whether the games will in any way improve upon the PS2 originals other than with improved visuals on Xbox, but today's announcement is sure to please Xbox owners who, until now, have been without a GTA game of any description.

I hope the Xbox version gets updates like customizable radio stations. Hopefully the graphics will improve a little more(not saying they suck). :D :D :D

I knew that Vice City was being released on XBOX without the GTA tag because Sony own the rights to the Grand Theft Auto name but there was nothing stopping Rockstar from releasing the game without the tag

With the package sets theres going to be new features, I know that.

For sure with the Xbox, there will be multiplayer play. Which is something that they never add on to the first edition releases for some reason. PC always ends up getting multiplay, so it seems reasonable that with the new updated version Xbox would too. For LAN obviously.

How does pc multiplayer gta work? I never new it had that.

I imagine the xbox version will look better than the ps2 version and more like the high res pc version.

I played GTA on PC via lan with some friends.

I have heard that theres plans to do another GTA game, but just like an adaption the way Vice City was. Suppose to come to PS2, and eventually Xbox.

GTA4, with a new engine and whatnot, will be coming to PS3 in 2005.

They are using the name Grand Theft Auto on the double pack. You can go to ebgames.com and see that it is used. What makes this possible is that Rockstar games is not going through a loophole in the contract or being sneaky. Rockstar and Sony amended their contract. This means that they both agreed to allow GTA III and VC to go to the XBOX. The reasons:

Rockstar will make more revenue from extra sales, thus they will have a higher capacity to make the next GTA game incredible. Unfortunately for XBOX owners, Sony knows that this will happen and allowed the amendment to occur because Rockstar probably extended their exclusivitey contract. Meaning that future GTA games will only be available on the PS2 for many years to come. Sony and Rockstar are still pals. :)

Im guessing there will be only one more GTA on PS2 until GTA4.

You're right. They'll probably release another GTA (GTA: San Andreas is the most likely name) next year in the fall. Then GTA: 4 will come out for the PS3. Or whatever name it is to become.

Adding in the excellent voice and storyline, but being more modern will be very appealing to me. I wish they would give a progress report on what they're really doing. If anything, it'll probably be announced at next year's E3.

Well even if Halo was an option on PS2, I probably wouldn't get it. Im waiting for it to come on PC.

I loved Halo on Xbox, but I never bothered buying it (well I don't own any console games though). So many friends have it, and once I beat it thats all I need. Without a mouse and keyboard I feel like it's such a step down having to be fumbled around with a joystick and pad.

Halo is going to rule on PC, although it will be old in comparison to everything else by the time it DOES come out, but it will still be good memorable fun.
