GTA III.....The first time i ever played it...That was the best part of it..as it was so huge and new.

But for a game i play loads, i would say the section "We've got hostiles" from Half Life is pretty cool....

Right at the start of the original Resident Evil for Playstation. When you go into that room, the game goes to cinematic mode for a second, and you see that zombie turn his head towards you, while snacking on the dead guy. Still sends chills down my spine.

I could probably name many cinematic story telling scenes from Soul Reaver 2 that I found pretty amazing. Story telling like no other.

Half-Life, the whole beginning up till when you finally figure out whats going on. This was the first FPS that really had story like this. The beginning seems tedious now, but then it made you feel like it was just the beginning of a movie, an introduction to the characters.

Resident Evil 2, just the beginning cinematic was amazing. Then proceed into the game like nothing we've ever seen. I remember where the police officer you knew turned into a zombie and started coming after you. It was the closest thing to being in a real thrilling movie.

The ending scenes to Twisted Metal 2 were all very cool and very memorable.

Grand Theft Auto. I picked this game up before it had really been released in the US. You could just get it on some sites and whatnot. Order it from backstores. It had been getting really strange publicity, and we had to figure out what the heck it was. It was like this small, badly graphiced, independant game. No one really knew about it, but it was HELLA fun, and like nothing we'd imagined before for a game. That game has a really strong memory on me, as I don't play it much anymore, but can remember it so specifically.

Then of course it finally made a nation wide debut and hit game shelves. Instantly became a hit, and peeps were talkin about it. My brother-in-law and some friends would come over and we'd take turns playin it, and laughin hard when watchin others go for it. Good times.

True though we did the same thing for GTA3, just had a go at it for a couple hours switchin off and watchin eachother. But GTA3 was no where near as memorable as GTA. Craziness.

Legacy of Kain series is the best storytelling on any console IMO. In the first Soul Reaver, when Raziel confronts Kain after he comes back from the dead. Fav scene...when Raziel says DAMN YOU KAIN, YOU ARE NOT GOD...one of the best lines in a video game.

I just hope that during the revival to the LoK series that CD is currently planning, they don't loose sight of why the fans keep playing these games--the story.

Any part in DMC

Silent Cartographer - Halo

First Level - Hitman 2: Silent Assasin

D- Day - MOH: Frontline

The first time I carjacked a viper and tried to outrun the cops - GTA III

I agree with a couple others about the cinematic storytelling in the Soul Reaver series. Specifically, the first one. I found the opening scene very powerful and it grabbed my attention.

Tanker - MGS 2

Almost any level from Max Panye.....almost

Exactly, the first game in the series Blood Omen, is one of my favourite games of all time because it has a good story, which leads to good gameplay.

I think we were all let down by the dismal Blood Omen 2, it took me 4 hours to complete the game and it was just bland, it just had no thought put into it

Agreed! :p

The expanded storyline was worth the bland gameplay though. I know, the story wasn't that good either...but I'll take any scraps I can get :D I also like how it shows what happens now that Janos lives.

I just threw Blood Omen 2 aside as a different game. Blood Omen 1 wasn't that great either, but atleast had a neat story. Which is why they eventually made Soul Reaver anyway.

But I like to look at Soul Reaver alone anyway. The first with ultimate gameplay and story, and the second with great twists to add on.

Adding the Blood Omen story with Soul Reaver should pay off though. Hopefully it goes more the way of Soul Reaver though, and less of Blood Omen 2.

What was the premise of that game

Future earth. In chaos. Psycho running a city, or cities. Starts a slaughter contest in which he'll grant the winner anything that they wish. So many gather from all around in their beefed up vehicles to duke it out till the end, so that they may have whatever they want.

For the prize that you ask to win, you had to ask precisly and carefully, because the dude would, for most of the characters that won, twist around what they actually said, so they end up getting something bad rather than what they really wanted.

A few actually got the better of him, but most of them ended up getting screwed over.

The ending to the Orcarina of Time was awesome.

But one of my fave parts in a videogame was Kefka's destruction of the world in FF 6. I love the old school SNES games.

Kyle Katarn
08-28-2003, 10:08 PM
In Jedi Outcast II...when Kyle beats Tavion at Bespin and uses the Force to strangle her and hold her over the abyss!
Then in the next level Kyle opens a door and is staring down the barrel of a Flechette weapon...till Master Skywalker and 4 Reborn enter the fray, and a 6-man Jedi battle royal commences!

I liked the last fight in Orcarina of Time almost MORE than the ending: The Triforce marking the back of Zelda, Link, and Ganon's hands...and Ganon's transformation scene before the last fight remains about the coolest thing EVER in a game! The lighting, sound, and when the ring of fire comes up, and Ganon knocks the Master Sword from Link's hands, and it lands outside at Zelda's feet! Then Zelda breaks through and blasts him, and Link get pissed and opens up a can of Grade-A Hylian WHOOP ASS on him!!!!!

My favorite part in MGS:2 would be when you get to fight the Metal Gears. Also another part I liked from this game was when you had to fight your through the basement with Snake and then fight more men in just a circle (ahh....so many bullets wasted. :D )

Another one of my favs would be when Samanosuke battles the soldiers on top of the mountain.....(so kick a**!)

Another one of my favs is when Dante blast Mundus with Ebony and Ivory sending him to hell.

No. 1- I'll recite some from TM2. However Twisted Metal Black has really sweet detailed movies, but TM2 is known for it's classic witty comic style... and if you're gonna play any, disregaurd TM3 and 4. Anyways...

When Twister (Amanda Watts) wins, she yearns for ultimate speed. She asks him if she can travel, in her car, faster than anyone has ever traveled. Faster than light for that matter. Doing so, she does get her wish. However, due to the speed, she becomes the first person in the world to time travel. When she ran out of gas, she got out of her car to find herself in the past, of the Jurassic period, in which a Dinosaur eats her. Mysteriously now, her racing helmet is in a museum in which archeologists have found her.

The character Hammerhead has two insane guys for drivers, party guys or whatever. When they win, their request is obviously a stupid one, but they make it anyway. They ask if they can be able to fly. He says your wish is granted. They proceed to go "Wow, cool!" and run off the tall city building they're on, only to fall to their bloody death. Calypso (thats the psychos name by the way), then acts in a sarcastic confused way, and wonders why they did that, and then holds up two plane tickets.

Spectre, or Ken, is the good lookin fellow in the game. I think he's an actor. He asks that his face be known to the whole world. So, lol, Calypso grabs ahold of (to Ken's horror as he screams) his face and starts stretching it so much that now his face can be seen by just looking into the sky. :D

Sweet Tooth, the insane clown, asks Calypso if he can make him a bug so he can lead a peaceful life, and be set in a nice garden or something. However when his wish is granted, he's one of the most ugliest bugs, I think still with his nasty clown face. So all the other bugs would despise him. In the end he starts insanely killing all the other bugs. Pretty much not changing a thing except now he's a bug =P

Warthog is an old army dude. As he exits his fighting MV... he asks Calypso to give him the body of a young man again. He gets his wish, however now he has a really nice looking young man's body, but his head is still old, grey and crusty looking. Calypso proceeds to tell him that he'll just have to enter the contest next year and wish for a new head as well =)

No. 2- No clue... :p

But who knows, maybe you are ;)
