I need to review a book for my school paper and I don't know what to do. I don't want to do anything that will make people want to beat me up in the halls like HP or Star Wars so does anybody have an idea? I was thinking of something like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas but without so many drugs. Something exciting but won't make me look like a pompous jackass. Anybody know a good book?

I don't you, pick something you like. I'd have to think about it...
Wow, you really care about your image, don't you?
The Catcher in the Rye might be good for you, if you haven't read it. Or you could try A Clockwork Orange, Catch 22 or The Slaughterhouse Five. If you like epic sci-fi that won't get you beat up because nobody's heard of it unless they've watched the Sci-fi channel, pick up a copy of Dune.

ENDER'S GAME or DUNE would be perfect if you like sci-fi. And you could always read MY NAME IS ASHER LEV which is pretty good.

I just finished Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.
It's sort of Goth/Fantasy, but obviously Gaiman style.
It's about a city below London, where people who "fall through the cracks" go. What's really cool about it is that the book takes place in real London, but looked at in a different light. Extremely cool if you know London well.

I recommend New X-Men by Grant Morrison with art by Phil Jimenez, Igor Kordey, Frank Quitley, and others. Also try Batman by Jeph Loeb featuring art by Jim Lee.

There's Heart of Darkness, which is an exceedingly dense and wonderful book.
Or The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett.
Or Fight Club, which you can read for free on the internet.
