Its not a prequel it is a sequel and has something that ties all of the games together...

I thought big boss was dead or something, he's always referred to in the past tense in the games. Even if he were alive, he would be much older if the sequel were taking place after the events of MGS1 & 2.

It takes place in the 60's. It hasn't been confirmed but most people, myself included, think you play as Big Boss. I wish you played as Raiden again. He was the ass. I don't know why so many people hated him.

Just because it takes place before MG, MGSS, MGS or MGSOL doesnt automatically make it a prequel...While carrying the 3 in the title it will be a sequel...

yes, but they are designed as Prequels, ie..Episode 1..This is called MGS3 showing that it is a continuation of the story...not a backtrack of the story..

I understand what you are saying, just because it's a sequel doesn't mean it has to take place after the events of MGS2, but traditionally that is what a sequel does, it has a sequental order. It would be like if Spider-Man 2 was about Peter Parker in 10th grade the chronological order that the first movie set up would thow the viewer off because when we last left Peter, he was in college. Sony would market the movie as a prequel and I think Konami should do the same, if it is indeed Big Boss. Every Metal Gear has a secret though, and this may be their big secret that they don't give away...anyway, I'm just rambling now....

If it is a prequel people will be pissed that the cliffhanger from MGS2 may not be answered...Therefore marketing wise calling it a sequel is a stronger move...Its like the MGS2 box..It has snake all over it..Snake is hardly in it..Putting Raiden all over it, might have caused some fans to be pissed that Snake wasnt the main character...Raiden was a big secret, which hardly anyone liked...I think that Hideo knows some secrets can backfire and come off as bad, which is why he isnt keeping the fact that it is a sequel but it takes place beore the events of every other MG game a secret.

The official word is that it takes place in the 60's or 70's, so it is definetly a prequel. And it could use Big Boss as the main character, since he would look exactly the same as Snake anyway.

Not exactly, on this thread there was a konami representive there and he said it is a prequel and it is suppose to clear up everything for MGS 4....

Chances are another..what 3-4 years until MGS4, with more questions being raised in MGS3 (as they ebd with a cliffhanger)
5-6 years (altogether) is along time to wait for alot of fans to have the question from MGS2 answered...
Chances are any sequel we see with be on the PS3 so will take longer to develop and such....

Remember the "wow" that went through your mind when you first saw MGS2 for the first time on a next gen console? I can't wait to see what kind of graphics the PS3, Xbox2, and Gamecube2 produce.

Yeah, even MGS3 looks a great step up from MGS2. Pierce Brosnan already lends his likeness to 007 in the games, could you imagine a "real" looking bond that the gamer can command.

Its all makes sense and fits...In a way u would be playing in the 60's..U are still playing as Snake..adn it connects the stories..Its a very good idea
