The Japanese trailer has been released, and from it we can see there is major Pokemon RPG in the game. Looks cool, especially as you're a bad-guy and can capture ALL the pokemon you see in the game, even other trainers ones.
It also looks like players can play through both controllers and their GBAs. I think it'll be good.

Post your views, or as some of you will, why you think the game will suck, and why Pokemon will fail. Also on another note, Pokemon Ruby and Saphire are still Number One in the UK charts.

I think im grown out of Pokemon now...
I used to really enjoy it, and to a certain extent enjoy the games still..But i wont be buying any new ones, mainly due to the fact that my taste in games have changed over the last few years.

3 and 4 years ago, Pokemon were the $hit. Now they just aren't fun anymore.

I never really bought into all the Pokémon hype because it was marketed for children. I think Nintendo went OTT when they decided to make loads of movies, merchandise and anything else you can think of

spiderman_2k
08-24-2003, 08:47 AM
Yeah well thats the thing..I was a child when it was full boom...The amount of money i wasted on those ****ing cards is insane

sphericthor
08-24-2003, 09:06 AM
Do you remember the stories about the cards being banned from schools because some guy threatened someone else wth a knife because of Pokémon cards

spiderman_2k
08-24-2003, 09:08 AM
Yep..Our head threatened it..If we didnt take it out into the playground instead of the main school corridoor they would all be taken away and not allowed back in school...It was mad..
Also i remeber Pogs getting banned from my school lloonngg ago, because people were using metal ones...

sphericthor
08-24-2003, 09:13 AM
Yeah, I remember the good old days when I played Pog in primary school, and that was a long time ago (around 7-8 years)

spiderman_2k
08-24-2003, 09:15 AM
For me it was about...4-5...I remeber the boom when they made a comeback..At least they outlived the reappearance of the Yo-Yo....

sphericthor
08-24-2003, 09:18 AM
That happened when I was is secondary school and everyone had them. What was it, coca cola or something like that brought them out

spiderman_2k
08-24-2003, 09:21 AM
No clue i just remeber walking into school one day and BOOM everyone had a Yo-Yo...It lasted less than 6 months before everyone forgot about it though...

sphericthor
08-24-2003, 09:25 AM
Whoever decided to re-launch the YoYo must've made a fortune because they sold for Ł1 a time and there was even professional YoYos for prices ranging from Ł20 - Ł50

spiderman_2k
08-24-2003, 09:27 AM
Yep..and sponsored world tournaments and everything...
It was crazy for a brief period...

Fortunatly, I was already too old for Pokemon when they were first released......
And now, all the kids who played Pokemon religiously are all in their mid/late teens....
Nintendo will have to work hard to keep this thing going...

I still like the yo-yo.

Of course I got it easy when I found a toy store going out of business, and they had these dollar bins, not to mention half off prices, so everything in the bins were 50 cents. For some reason the company kept sending them more and more Yomega and Duncan yo-yos and whatnot. So I bought like 50 of em for 50 cents each.

Besides the fact that I always got a high quality yo-yo sitting around, but ive made major profit off of selling em, due to them selling for 10-15 dollars each.

If Pokemon has died out though, why has it sold so well around the planet?

If Japan, the land of hundreds of crazes, sold 2.4 million copies of Ruby and Saphire in a few days, why the hell isn't the craze over?

Well it looks like Nintendo have developed Pokemon replacment, and 2004 looks like it'll be the final year of Pokemon. Just watch out, as the new "craze/franchise" has promised to be the biggest super-nova of all Nintendo projects.

Oh...joy

jpdill

Why aren't you happy? Well spiderman? You don't like Pokémon, and you want it to end, and seeing as gamings most influencial fanchise is finishing, you shouldn't be so sarcastic.

I don't think Pokemon is over. The new franchise will not replace it, but work along-side it, and Pokemon will become a regular, as have Zelda and Mario. But if they make some mediocre-graphiced Pokemon games, and then unleash a brilliant looking game, the games will be continual-popular.

I'm starting a new thread...

I cant stand Poke'mon...I used to love it...Im 15 now..I grew out of it..It is pretty childish...As is Nintendo...Im guessing the next franchise will once again be a little kiddies dream...Sure that may be cool for the little kids...But Nintendo are trying to make themselves a serious company...Buying rights to Resi has proven this...Poke'mon is in fact slowly dying out...The cards...Pretty much gone, no-one cares about them anymore...The movies...The 1st one went to number 1 in America..The latest one didnt make the Top 10...I think...The games may sell well...But the formula cant really be changed..I mean Ruby and Sapphire were not exactly leaps and bounds ahead of Gold and Silver were they??
Nintendo will really have to pull off something spectacular to keep Poke'mon going for the next few years.

I agree with ya. Pokemon is slowly dying. Ruby and Sapphire weren't all that good compared to Gold and Silver. R & S didn't even have every Pokemon in it. I don't see alot of people into the E-Card thing. The originals were better to me. Now the movies are not hitting theaters and going straight to video.

jpdill
08-25-2003, 07:38 PM
They aren't going to theatres because Disney are being lazy arseholes.

The E-reader is a waste of time according to Nintendo of Europe, so the pokemon on that aren't the only way of getting them all.

All the Pokémon are in the GBA games - to catch them all you need to have the Pokemon RPG game known as Pokemon Colissium, which is out in Febuary next year.

They aren't going to theatres because they will bomb...
No-one cares for the movies anymore...1 & 2 did well...the 3rd is where it started to go downhill....

What you lot on about? On the trailer it bloody clearly states that it's half-Stadium 3 and half-RPG game. In the RPG you play as a
Team Rocket member - and you steal Pokemon from the trainers you battle.

From Nintendo.Com

In this innovative game, players can upload Pokémon from their Game Boy Advance games Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire, and battle against friends on their televisions through Nintendo GameCube.

With a collection of arenas to choose from, players can enter their Pokémon in a tournament or battle it out in four-player multi-battles, making each experience unlike the last. Players also can join with a friend to combine strengths in new two-on-two battles and demonstrate their Pokémon prowess as a team.

Features

• A follow-up to the highly popular Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Stadium 2 games for Nintendo 64, Pokémon Colosseum continues the fun and excitement in collecting a whole new batch of Pokémon characters.

• Completely compatible with Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire, players can battle with more than 200 Pokémon from the two games on their Nintendo GameCube. Players simply insert their Pokémon Ruby or Pokémon Sapphire game into the Game Boy Advance, connect to a Nintendo GameCube via the Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance cable, and Pokémon appear in Pokémon Colosseum!

• Up to four players, each with a Game Boy Advance system, can connect to Nintendo GameCube and battle their Pokémon against each other. Pokémon Masters must overpower the competition in various tournaments to become the best Pokémon trainer ever.

It does'nt say anything about an RPG element...and this is the description given by Nintendo....Im thinking that maybe in a story mode, u can play as a Team Rocket member...and as u make ur way up the story, u can keep the Poke'mon you beat....

spiderman_2k

My gamecube buggered up before it was released so i never got a chance to play it.

jpdill

Ok. Why didn't you contact Nintendo? Or did you actually bugger it up yourself?

jpdill
08-26-2003, 06:41 PM
Well - the Zelda in the new game is a pirate, so we can officially have a Zelda game with Zelda as the main character, as she can fight with arrows and swords.

Yeah, Quicktime is 56k's best friend. I hate using WM player or RealPlay.
