Saw it, and enjoyed it. Actually I enjoyed it more than I was planning or wanting to. I've been looking forward to this movie for quite awhile now, and was really hoping it would turn out well. I think it did a pretty good job. Im not sure if you'd have to see the original films to think that, but its definitly better than a lot of them. Perhaps if you've ONLY seen this one you might not like it too much.
But hey, if you're a fan of horror and gore, as the title of the thread you guessed it, it delivers well. Yes I think it's the goriest film of the year, and I don't think anyones going to beat it. Not sure if it's tastefully done, but I was kinda laughin in a "oh, yes!" kind of way. There is a lot of freakin blood in this. Kinda makes me wanto see Evil Dead make a come back.
Don't wanto over-hype it. But I did enjoy it. It's fairly good, and definitly better than some of the last films in both the series. I give it a 8 out of 10.

I loved the film.It is definately for fans of the Old School Friday and Nightmare Films. It was fantastic.Ronny Yu directed a juggernaught of a film IMO.
Lots of gore and lots of Unnecessary Boob shots which is why people watch these in the first place.
Englund is fantastic in this. I thought this was the baddest Freddy has ever been.Jason is so ****ing huge as well, I forgot Hodder the moment this MO FO started kicking ass.
Kelly Rowland was actually Hilarious as well.
This is my favorite entry in the entire series of both franchises.

As am I.
What pissed me off though is my theatre has 10 cinemas in it.9 are stadium, One isn't. They decide to open this film in the only theatre with no stadium seating.Again a horror film gets the shaft.
That sucked.

Hey I went to a noon showing as well and a few teenagers two rows ahead of me were all going crazy when the first sight of boobs show up and some guy way in the back row yelled out "SHUT THE **** UP!" but hey the movie is awesome.

definitely the goriest and most mark-out movie of the summer. seeing freddy and jason beat the living crap out of each other was just so sweet.
I don't think I've talked as much in any movie I've ever been too. I thought it was friggin' hilarious. There were people screaming in the back and I was choking on my popcorn laughing. I'm kind of glad my friends forced me to come.

I loved this movie, the whole sold out audience was pumped up about this movie and it toatolly delivered on many different levels. One of the best of the summer. I've been on just about all the freddy and jason boards on here, and I cant say enough good things about it.

This was the best theatre experience I've ever had. I went to the pre-showing and it was perfect, the place was only about 3/4 full, but really who goes to a pre-show but losers and hardcore fans, one in the same really.
However I digress, the most fun part was that they got two employee's from the theatre to dress up as Freddy and Jason and I thought it was really great.
They usually announce the rules at the beginning of the movie, such as turn off all pagers and don't kick peoples seats, yadda yadda.
This time they did it in such a fashion that the 'announcer called out Jason and Freddy to the front of the screen and Jason of course got more fan love.
He asked them to shake hands but the guy playing as Jason just slapped Freddys glove with his plastic blood dyed machete and the announcer had to keep them in check.
After that he went on to explain the rules to Jason and Freddy which were of course the regulatory rules for the theatre and was vicariously telling us the rules through the 'fight' rules.
After all that, which I thought was highly amusing, the lights dimmed they both left and I was privilage enough to see the Texas Chain Saw Masacre remake preview along with the House of the Dead [which appears to have crappy actors/actresses, bad acting and it seems all the action sequences are all one big bullet time] but I'm still going to see it because I love the games.
Anyway this movie kicked ass and I'm going to see it again tomarrow, I just couldn't get enough of Freddy with his knee lungings and elbow drops on Jason...even though I was rooting for Jason as he seems to be the protagonist of the whole thing, being manipulated and all.
I've always liked Jason because he looks more intimadating and his deaths are more elaborate and gory but Freddy's just hilarious with those one liners and fool like personallity.
Loved it, go watch it, btw if they do happen to make a sequel to this you all know who has to join the roster next don't you?
Well I don't know about you but it has to be:
Freddy vs Jason vs Micheal Myers
It just HAS to. It's the only idea that makes sense.
I was hearing some crap about Bruce Campbell vs. Freddy and Jason..who the hell thought up that crap? That isn't even feasable, what does Ash from Army of Darkness have to do with Freddy or Jason?

Ash vs Freddy and Jason would rule.... The evil Dead series is the best. Way better than the Jason and Freddy series.

Well it was just freakin sweet IMO. The problem with later films in both series was the lack of attention to the characters, and the lack of any real suspense, suprise, or action.
This film went back to what people care about, the badguys. We want to see more of them, and it delivers like no other.
Both Freddy and Jason got way cooler in this film. Freddy was great and comical with his one liners, as well as his expressions and his madness for wanting fear and death. Seeing him end up toying with Jason is priceless. Getting all weird of crazy on that 7 foot tall bad arse Jason, while he jerks around throwing huge boxer punches as Freddy tries to dodge them. Definitly the best Freddy yet. And Jason (while being his usual self) seems to give off a much better presence this time around than some of his last movies. He was one mean bad dude.
There were a few bad lines with the human characters, as well as cheesy characters, and pretty obvious labels, like one where Freddy tries to kill a guy but he manages not to die, yet for some reason the line was written with the obvious, the guy goes "Oh... im not dead, im going to go run now". Thats about the only thing that bothered me though.
And to final it up, the new technology and effects available, as well as better film quality, added in for what I think is one of the best Freddy or Jason flicks, if not the best.
P.S.
Just out of curiousity, did this happen to anyone else in their theatre? When the kids coming running out of their house screaming after the first real death, and they see a police car. The window roles down to reveal Lochlyn Munro playing the police officer and says "What's wrong!?". Now, me and my two friends just started laughing. It was a strange reaction now that I think about it, but I think it was because we had just watched Night at the Roxbury, and were talking about how crazy he always is and looks. So when the movie suprised us with his presence we just cracked up. Now- im not wondering about that, the weird thing is, the full theatre had a ton of OTHER people cracking up as well. His face hit the screen and laughs abrupted from that one flash of his face and line and then an immediate cut to another scene. Just curious if anyone else laughed at that part? He's just always so crazy, and known for his comedies, and he really is crazy looking. So I guess its understandable.

Also, if they were going to add Micheal Myers, they would have to get Pinhead in there as well. The problem I have with adding Micheal Myers (not that it will probably ever happen due to different studios owning him and not wanting to let the rights out), is that he's another character with a knife and a mask and doesn't talk. The interest involved wouldn't be that great or much. He would just be another slasher on the screen, with pointless involvement. Not to mention compared to what Jason and Freddy can do, it seems like both could totally kick his arse.
Jaydawg
08-17-2003, 12:40 PM
The guy who owns the Halloween rights has been in talks with New Line about possible teaming up at a later time. Michael myers isn't really a 'human' anymore. Dr. Loomis has said in the past 'that part of him died years ago, when I look into his eyes, I see pure evil' or something along those lines. I was impressed with how well they made a FvJ storyline work. I'm still not really sure how to make a spoiler tag so i'll just say this:
*SPOILER*
.
.
.
.
Maybe for a sequel, Jason will treat freddy's decapitated head like he did to his mothers decapitated head in the earlier series. Freddy will manipulate him into going after Myers in an attempt to bring him down as well.
Ya never know.

Myers should stay on his own....The series continuity is ****ed as it is.... Loomis saw pure evil in Myers even when he was a child...

I hate my local movie theater because, like you ive been waiting 10 years for this movie and then on friday, i go to see it at my city's theater and they dont have it playing. Of course they still have 2 fast 2 furious and finding nemo still playing but freddy vs jason is nowhere to be found. I hate them, now ill have to waste gas and drive 30 miles down the interstate to see it somewhere else and theres no way i can wait for it to come out on dvd. god this sux, i hate williamsburg!!! its there loss though, FvsJ is making mad money, so while theyre milking that gay freaky friday movie to its last drop, other theaters will be raking it in and put them out of business. He did do ok. I can't understand the laughter though when I really think about it. Its kinda... weird. Oh well.
He's just... too goofy looking. Im not sure they should of had him where he was for the opening cop. He would of come unto the screen much more suttle and easily if he was just in the police station and walked up. Not just BANG theres his face and he yells "WHATS GOING ON!?"
It was quick and out of no where...
Nah, I don't mind really. It was a good laugh :applaud:

I saw the film yesterday, I have to say it was everything I expected to be and more. The film felt like an old classic slasher flick. Very cool. Something different from todays teen horror movies. There was a lot of gore, a lot. The music was good too.
There were scenes the were creepy and made people jump. It was a very entertaining film.

they shouldn't include michael meyers with freddy and jason, only because he is too similar to jason. even though i like most of the halloween movies it would be boring with characters to similar to each other as jason and michael. the reason it was entertaining between freddy and jason is because they are different and each have there own strengths and weakeness.

To me Michael Myers is the most frightening of all the slasher characters. Jason is 2nd, Freddy 3rd (he's more funny than anything else). I don't know if any of you liked Halloween 6: Curse of Michael Myers, but it is my favorite of the entire series simply due to the mythology involved. Michael is just so ****ing intense and he raises the hairs on my back in that sequel. I believe that he should be involved with Ronny Yu just so that his character can get back on his feet and I know Yu would do him justice. He pretty much just ressurected 2 dead franchises. The movie made so much money. No one expected it to even make the projected amount (20 million). THe movie made back its budget plus 150% extra. I'm glad it came out and I'm glad it was liked because it was damn good and really enjoyable. Now if only Dimension went ahead an borrowed Michael to New Line, I'd be a happy guy.
Oh and to the person that asked why we like the gore and why we aren't bothered by it? IT'S NOT REAL. It helps to not be so serious when going to movies like this especially. Let go of your real world once in a while and have fun. That's why I love these movies. Letting go of total disbelief and just enjoy myself.

i don't think ttcm will be the goriest movie of the year because bay said it won't be a "hard" R. You can read here I got it from yahoo movies. Here ya go.
MPAA Rating Notes: (3/19/02) Nothing's official until the MPAA sees the final cut, but New Line is aiming for an R, though it won't be a "hard" R, with word from Variety (3/12/02) that Bay wants to keep gore and blood-letting to a minimum because he sits on a committee of directors against violence. Okay... so why the #@&! would you be producing a remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre if you're so anti-violence in film? I'm anti-hunting. I think I'll go produce Ted Nugent's TV show. Here's a direct quote from the trade on the issue: "That means less splattering blood and more MPAA-friendly, stripped down, "Blair Witch"-style scare tactics. Bay sold the pic on the basis of short [sic] teaser, most of which features a dark screen, stampeding footsteps and heavy breathing. (Sound familiar?)" (6/14/03) Well, regardless of all that, the MPAA seemed to think there was "strong horror violence/gore."

Yeah. Plus TCM is a more serious slasher. FvJ is a deliberate gore fest, spraying blood whenever possible.

Much better than I expected and Ronnie Yu did a great job combining the two franchises....those fights between Freddy and Jason were classic. Hey all I'm new here.
I really want to see this movie but I am too young and probably not mature enough to see it even if a parent came with me. If someone who saw would be so kind as to PM me tell me EVERYTHING in the movie I would really REALLY appreciate it.
I don't mind knowing as I think the only time I'm really ready to take in all that gore is in 3 years when I'm actually of age to see Rated R movies.
So if anyone can be so kind......

Not to mention if you can't handle scary, blood or gore or anything... why are you even interested in this film? Or any horror film for that matter.
I mean the film overall isn't phenomonal, but one reason a lot of people rave about it is because they think the violent fight scenes and gore are freakin awsome! Thats pretty much it's main purpose....

Yeah I know but I can't help it when I can't see a certain movie that I want to see (if only it weren't so gory and body parts were falling off) I want to get more into the action sequences, not really the killing.
Actually before this, when the trailers for Freddy Vs. Jason came out, for 3 days I lived in fear of Freddy. I thought that he was so scary! But not anymore. I ALWAYS had to keep reminding myself "He's not real, he's not real, he's not real...."

If you don't like gore then your not gonna like this movie. It's a very gory movie thats why the title of this thread is called Correction: Freddy VS Jason - Goriest film of the year. The blood in this movie is there for a reason. If the movie wasn't to gory it wouldn't be a cool movie. This movie did not scare me at all. Are you scared easily? What was the last horror movie you saw? I'm surprise your username dosn't scare you.;) J/K
Fanible
08-31-2003, 04:24 PM
Exactly. Without the gore and violence, the movie wouldn't be that great. Let alone a story given to you minus all the gore descriptions... you'd have just a really uninteresting story.
Girl screams...
Girl says "Whats going on!? Where have you been!?"
Girl screams...
Freddy starts fighting, violence occurs with (edited out due to the gore)
People run away
Guy says "Holy crap, who is that?"
Other guy says "Its Freddy. Him and Jason are fighting!"
All of the people scream and start running.
Jason and Freddy fight and (edited out due to the gore)
THE END
...And thats pretty much it. All the Freddy and Jason movies in the past that didn't have much gore or special make-up effects have usually been the worse, being really unentertaining. Heck with the last Freddy movie, 'New Nightmare', the whole thing was rather boring until the last 10 minutes of the film when we finally got to see the cool Freddy effects. Until then the overall movie was kinda boring and dragged out with semi-acting and poor dialogue.
The whole reason Freddy and Jason took off so well, was the outragous horro that was in them. In the first Freddy films, what made them so great (and in my opinion even better than boring slashing from Jason), was the awsome make-up, nightmarish effects that occured to his victims.
Thats pretty much all the films are. You don't tend to go into your average horror flick for an amazing story or anything.

Looks like a catapiller to me. But yeah.
Anyways I didn't care. It was good laugh. You'd wonder what that'd guy would dream of. It was just to make him trip and think its funny, so Freddy could possess his body.
And I think the beginning showing how Freddy started and his victims and whatnot was a great way to start the movie. It'd also help people who didn't see many of the first films. In fact, the flashback scenes of some of his deaths was the only time we got to see Freddy and his cool make-up effect nightmares, something that was missing from FvJ.

She stretched herself up on tiptoe, and peeped over the edge of the mushroom, and her eyes immediately met those of a large caterpillar, that was sitting on the top with its arms folded, quietly smoking a long hookah, and taking not the smallest notice of her or of anything else.
Chapter 5 – Advice from a Caterpillar
The Caterpillar and Alice looked at each other for some time in silence: at last the Caterpillar took the hookah out of its mouth, and addressed her in a languid, sleepy voice.
“Who are you?” said the Caterpillar.

I suppose this is the goriest film of the year, so that was great...
I was actually getting restless during the first half where it just felt like an rehash of Nightmare on Elm Street, and I would guess the following sequels in the series follows the same kind of formula. Then again, I was amused that our heros were in danger when awake, so an interesting neat twist on both franchises, but overall, I was getting impatient waiting for things to take off.
I was under the impression the teens would set up the duel in an more elaborate set up, instead of the quick solution they figured out three quarters in. But forgetting these things, I enjoyed it once the two finally get to brawl with each other. Some great efffects, and I may be alone when I say I was rooting for Freedy, oddly enough as that is.
And as for the sequel, well, someone mentioned Pinhead, and I think that would be worthy triple feature. Of course the Pinhead I would like to see in a sequel is the one from the first two movies, Hellraiser and Hellbound. Anyone notice Pinhead starts giving off that Freddy vibe in the third movie; which incidently is an pretty good gore film if you're interested.;)
But yes, my point is I prefer the stoical, stonefaced(not literally) Pinhead and his much more realistic sadistic presence in the first two, although you're still aware of these qualities in the following films, but still I prefer what I prefer, its my preferrence.
Hmm, Ash, well, Ash could be good but we will already know the outcome of that match, if it were to happen. But I can still see it working, it would be quite the fight indeed...how about having all four of them in there to really stir things up?
Next round, Aliens vs Predator, an fight I would love to see on the big screen.:applaud:

Just gotta say, I ain't seen any other Freddy films yet, but ive only seen Jason X out of the Friday The 13th series and Jason X was cheapily funny, and for Freddy Vs Jason, I think they could have used THE most amount of blood ever for one little paper cut the way they went on, but because I love to see people being cut up in films I found this amazingly funny!

I found this movie to be a fun ride. It's not really anything special, but it is since most of the freddy and jason fans have been waiting for a movie like this, for years.
But as for me I thought the first hour was fine it gave scares and jumps that I really wanted, and this movie delivered that. As for the last half, it's just mostly freddy and jason battaling (??) it out, so it doesn't really have anymore jumps or scares that I wanted.
Thought it was still cool to see who will win, and yes there is gore, i wouldn't say a lot, but it had it's good amount.
So for the person who's scared of seeing this.........go see it, I think it'll be fun for you. :)

I don't usually enter these films expecting it to be scary, or planning on getting scared.
The gore, effects, and fighting is the main reason. And considering the last half hour was just all out battle between the two, I enjoyed it. Some of their previous films didn't concentrate on their character enough, instead trying to make a storyline out of the characters getting killed. The result is usually boring. Rather if you're going to have a continued movie on a certain character, the character needs more screen time. It's should be about that dude, not the lame B actors.
A movie like Scream is something you should want and expect to scare you, but these films seem to have one main purpose, and that's the mindless and pointless killing and gore (and for fans of Jason, the occasional pointless nudity).
