Just gonna tell you that Nintendo are giving GBA games a new look. From Christmas, all GBA games will be in a GBA-tailored DVD case. The reason is that many people play GBA on their gamecubes, and the games should be in the same cases as gamecube's games.
I also think it's because the next gameboy will use disks, and will be in DVD cases.
You don't really need to reply, but you can... No one's stopping you.

Real shame tho. you can say that. But you'll find then this thread wasn't aimed AT you, but others who actually have a GBA.
And there are many who do - GBA is the fastest and biggest selling console, so there are bound to be a few on this forum. Also, GBA2, or GBX as it has been rumoured, will most likely be backwards compatible. Most likely from connecting both a GBA and GBX together, and downloading the old games onto it.
Also, completely not really important, Game Boy SP went past the 1 Million mark in Europe a few weeks ago.

It may not be pointed at me but i have as much right to voice my opinion of my own handheld, which i spent my money on as everyone else on these boards..I have a GBA i have had it since the very day it was released in the UK...its not all that great...

Clam down children.
What were the old cases? Did they still come in old cardboard boxes?

Heck i did nothing wrong but voice my opinion and i get a half-assed lecture...:D
Yeah they were in the same sort of cardboard boxes as the GB and GB colour games came in...

You voiced you opinion on the other GameBoy thread. Not everyone cares about your views on it. I haven't said it's the best thing on the planet, i haven't said it's crap or anything.
I haven't given my views, neither on this or on the other thread. I've said that PSP has alot to deal with, and it won't sell as many as GBA or the next GameBoy. And the same as N-gage.

And spiderman_2k:
If GBX was cheaper, more powerful and alot more "better" than PSP, would you still get a PSP?
Also, why you so pissed off with GameBoy?

Why cant i put my opininions where people can see them..maybe some people care about the next game boy, but dont give a rats ass about the "new packaging".
All u can do is guess...but no chances are i would not get either if the GBX was better...I didnt like the GBA due to the fact that they could have given so much more with..plus there havent been that many decent games out for it...All adds up..

I want to get one of those GBA SP's. Finally, a back lit screen! What Gameboy has been missing all along.

But with this GBX supposedly coming out next year...that will probably have the backlit thing aswell

Like the gameboy SP, i think the new one will still have the lithium battery.
Also, GameBoyAdvance (including the original and SP) has sold over a total of 1 Million in the UK.
plus there havent been that many decent games out for it...All adds up..
Have you wondered why there aren't many decent games? Probably the fact it's summer. I'm surprised Ninty even released Pokemon Ruby/Saphire in July.
Games in summer don't usually sell. Well Microsoft are releasing those Rare games in September with THQ.

Errr. It's the same with every console. PS2 has some good games - but most of them are ****. Same with X-box and GameCube. GBA gots more games on it, and alot more of them are good, compared to the other consoles.
I take it you are a PS2 owner. Well tell me some games on GBA that have sucked, and i'll tell you some games on whatever you have that sucked.
spiderman_2k
08-15-2003, 10:10 AM
It may be the same with every console but the GBA releases many more games in a much shorter period of time, and most of them suck...the only really decent game recently released was Advance Wars 2..
And why do u take i am a PS2 owner??

Jeez, calm down spidey. Also, the Castlevania games kicked ass. I hope these new boxes do come out though. I hardly buy any games, but I'd like to have them more organized than they currently are, just sitting in a box.

Yes that is one of the better games...got 86%...then right next to it is Tiger Woods PGA Tour Gold....a whopping 35%..;)

By the way, the gba screen isn't backlit, its along the sides, making it difficult to play outside :(
I loved the castlevania games!!! But i hear that konami wont be making them for GBA anymore. They will probally make them for the PSP. Oh, and PSP will probally be a better handheld as it can do anything (like how ps2 can play dvds and cube can't) but GBA's will sell more because they will be set an "affordable" price. 300 dollars is a lot to put down for a game machine, but with all that you get out of the PSP, it's a resonable price for people that can afford it. GBA will keep the market on people that love nintendo (zelda, mario, pokemon), and kids whose parents won't pay 300 for an "advanced" Gameboy. I will probally get both if Nintendo can keep Castlevania...otherwise, I'll probally go with Sonys new machine. I can't see myself paying another 100-150 to play more remade mario and zelda games.

I thought the SP was full backlit???
Thats exactly my point....thats games arent really original...
Also in the latest Gamesmaster in the UK...The president of Sony Europe said "the price will be comparable to the GBA".....

I don't see how Sony can profit off of making the price compariable to the gba. Here, this thing is truly going to be backlit and is going to have all these extras built into it. I can't wait to take a memory card look at some pics, play a short movie, or listen to some mp3's. That's why I say if your going to pay 300, you're totally getting your money's worth. I read a rumor somewhere that was said the PSP may have a FFVII sequel...i would get the console just to play that :hehe:
About the backlit, I did too, but my friend was playing it in the car one night and pointed it out to me, I noticed it the other day. If you have the Sp turn it on and you'll tilt it to its side a little, you'll see the light coming from the sides. I noticed when I got it though that the backlit colors and quality didn't look anything close to Sega's Game Gear. It's alright though, worth the price of admission to play the last 2 castlevania's and super mario advance 4.

I digress though, I will have to wait and see if Nintendo can put out some better quality games before I make my mind up if I'm going with the next GB.
I will definitly go with N's next console though. I love the GC. I was trading in games one day (for ps2, xbox, and gc) and the clerk didn't even look at the back of GC disks. I asked him why and he said that GC disks are so small, you could only permantly damage them if you meant to. After playing Xbox (which is very picky on scratches and fingerprints on the disk making it impossible to play rented games) my love for GC"s console grew even more. And when games are specifically made for gamecube (i.e. Rouge Squadron & Zelda) they look better than anything on ps2 and as good if not better than Xbox.

That is what is balancing me on the next GBA..i have been really disappointed with the games released fr this GBA..i mean with the PSP we could get FFVII sequel's...GTA games...Sweet looking Tony Hawks...Smackdown..there are so many things that can be put onto the PSP gamewise

Not to mention if sony follows the link capabilities that Nintendo's using now. For example if you were playing GTA on your PS3 and could snipe cops from your PSP...that would own anything nintendo has done with their link between cube and gba.
GBA's only games that look good to me that I don't already have are rehashes of old classics that I could play on a computer with an emulator. Though, I do like how on Mario advance 4 it will use the ereader, but thats another accesory I have to buy. :(

Yeh - but you see Nintendo are going to make a console far superior to PSP. So don't go bragging how PSP will be the greatest thing ever. GBA un-offically has better features (in my opinion) than PSP. Here's one:
What's the point of spending around £6 on a UMD disk to download a movie, where it can only be played on a PSP? With the recent Ninty documents, you download things like music, movies and game onto a HARD-DRIVE. Saves money and time.
Also, Sony doesn't have the money to make a whole-load of games at the beginning. GBX owners have a truck-load of games to play with, aswell as GBX-games.
We'll see everything either this Autumn [ Fall in the US ] or Winter, and for certain next E3. Nintendo have been VERY secretive about all their future projects. The only things they've said is the following:
- The new Mario games is going to be the first game of it's kind - it's so unique, they are going to only release deatils about it just before the game comes out - so no other game-peep copy it and release before.
- The next console has been inm development since 2001. While Playstation and sony where designing the PSX (you know - the home entertainment console, which is just an updated PS2), Nintendo have been trial+improving their console. It's the same with their new GameBoy, whihc might not be called GameBoy.
Next Spring, Nintendo will be showcasing an entirely new franchise, so possibly a new game series, or a new Portable Gaming Device, that's not called GameBoy_____.
This product will be big, and has been in devlopment for ages. Even though it sounds dumb, in 2001, the people behind Pokemon where saying that Nintendo are making real pokemon one step further than they are right now - so maybe Pokemon on an entirely new system, which is a Nintendo System. The new product they're revealing has been worked on for a few years, so maybe the Pokemon thing and what they're going to reveal next year are linked

I think personally think what they're going to reveal will be the new brotherhood of console gaming: GameBoyXtreme and NINTENDO DOLPHIN
That would be cool. Ultimate gaming, online capabilites through mobile communications (like using WAP on mobile to battle people - for the GBX of course, and it'll be like the Japanese Pokemon Crystal)
I'm going to start a thread about this entitled The Brotherhood of Gaming. We can continue this chat there i suppose.
