First of all I would like to thank Comingsoon.net for being so gracious as to get some of us some VIP access which ensured early seating.
With that said, man oh man.
I read two reviews that were both negative so i went in with some low expectations but was throughly impressed.
The lead actress (character's name was Lori) should have played Lara Croft. Damn she was ... rawr. Besides some bad acting in the last scene she was in she did great.
Kelly Rowland kind of irritated me until the end when she let Freddy have it verbally. Pretty funny, ballsy even.
We got to see some Robert Englund action and saw him doing the Freddy Krueger thing before he got burnt. Also saw some background Jason Voorhies instances (how he drowned). I didn't care for the actor they used for Jason. He looked like a complete f'ing gargantuan and really just came across as kind of ... i dunno. You could just tell the actor is not someone who has settled into the role like Kane did.
The reviews I read painted Freddy as being overly obnoxious and using too many one-liners. I wonder now if they ever saw any of the Elm Street movies because he seemed to be the same old, lovable Freddy he has always been.
The rave scene was brutal as hell and they weren't kidding when they said this movie would be bloody as hell. Limbs were flying and blood was all over the place, very very brutal.
I don't think it took too long to get to the Freddy-Jason action and trust me, it was very very gratifying to see these two hack and slash each other to no end. Jason and Freddy both get the upper hand several times so it keeps you guessing on who wins until the end. even though there is a clear winner you wonder just how much he really won.
The Jason Meeks lookalike was funny and will get the potheads in the audience laughing.
The crowd was really into it, people were cheering Jason on and then there were the Freddy followers and I know both parties were satisfied with how much punishment and mayhem were dished out.
For once I also felt like the trailer didn't give too much of the movie away. A lot of surprises are in store and I really left feeling like they had finally done the slasher-horror genre some much-needed justice.
One problem: every lead actress had D-cup breasts. No complaints really but it seemed kind of far-fetched that all the residents of Elm street all had the same perfectly-shaped, full, delectable breasts. You saw plenty of them, too.
Anyways, if you're a fan of the series you will love it. I went with someone who doesn't like freddy/jason movie much at all and he loved it.
8/10.

oh, and the only trailer shown with the New Line film reel was the Texas Chainsaw Massacre which caused an uproar since we Austinites live in Travis County. I actually live a 1/4 of a mile from where the original was filmed. They're about to doze over the hill and transform it into part of the giant strip mall developing over there. Kind of sucks.
It's the same trailer that is on the internet, btw.

Thank you ever so much Radiohead. I now have some better expectations for this film. My and a load of friends are seeing it this Friday night after work, and I am what some would call a HARDCORE Freddy Fan Maniac. I loved each and every one of the Nightmare on Elm St. Films... No wait, I hated Freddy's Dead. But other then that, God I hope Freddy Wins this one, even though I KNOW deep down inside that it'll somehow be a draw. ;)

i will say this: the jason/freddy action was far more intense than what i anticipated. i wish i could babble on about it but i don't want to ruin it.
freddy takes jason back to his dark place and we see some emotional breakdown. no joke.

kind of
freddy impersonates her twice. first to get jason to go to elm street and then later to antagonize him.

This movie was awesome and the audience were cheering at all the right places, the fight scenes were intense even better than 'MATRIX RETARDED'.
The main lead girl will remind some people of Britney Murphy, only this girl is way hotter and not a skinny stringbean.

i saw this thursday night at an employee showing, it was such an awsome movie, jason is a psycho and freddy is just plain evil, good fight scenes and plenty of victims and alot of nudity and scary monsters who cuss makes a great movie, probably my favorite movie of the summer.

DONT READ THIS IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW HOW IT ENDS jason comes out of the water holding freddy krugars head but at the last second freddy's head turns to the camera and winks at the audience, so jason pretty much won but freddy is definatly not dead yet

Alright, I just got back from seeing Freddy Vs Jason and I must say that it is one of the best movies ever!!!... okay, maybe not. But it is definitely one of the best horror movies ever made. The story is good... its essentially a freddy movie with jason worked into the story... which is awesome since freddy movies always had better stories, but jason is so much cooler... its the best of both worlds
Now that weve all established that FvsJ is an awesome movie, its time to look to the future. There is definitely room made for a sequel at the end, so what do you all think should happen in a sequel?
I totally think Michael Myers should be thrown in because he is the only other slasher icon that i can think of that is as well-known and cool enough to take on freddy and jason. Anyways, i liked how they worked freddy and jason together into a good script, so i was thinking of how they could get michael in there and im stumped, so if u have any ideas, let me know.
spiderman_2k
08-18-2003, 10:22 PM
No michael....simple as that...no need for him, 2 of the same silent characters would make the film dull...
Also his films continuity are ****ed up anyway...putting him in a VS film would only make that mess worse...
Slipknot

Michael Myers would only screw it up more.

While I enjoyed this movie, I don't really consider it "Horror".
Considering I wasn't scared for a second. Hell, there wasn't even any cheap startles (you know, when Jason/Freddy would jump out, and the music would flare)!

It's explained better in the book. It's like when Jason gets sucked into the ground in 'Jason goes to helll' thats where his body lays dormant and has been 'sleeping' in FreddyvsJason, the same demons that sucked him into hell were teh demons that gave Freddy his powers so Freddy grabbing the mask was sort of related. Like I said, I suck at explaining things, but in the book it makes sense.

Yesturday i was atching the VMA's on MTV and during a pre-show they had a bunch of commentators judging who would win in "Eminem Vs. 50 Cent" and during the lyrics part Robert Englund came out with Freddy's glove and opened with the famous line
"Welcome To Primetime, *****" and delcared that the winner was his "main man" Eminem. He did the whole thing as Freddy but w/o makeup. It was frikin' funny.
