I rented this over the weekend and found it to be a good, entertaining flic. The formula for comedy (white man plus black woman) is actually a no-brainer and its strange how hollywood hasn't capitalized on this more (and no, Monsters Ball doesn't count...I'm talking about comedies!). The last movie to use this relationship as a point of humor was probably Bullworth (which was a good movie BTW).
I actually saw glimpses of the old, funny Steve Martin in this movie - especially the scenes where he dances while they're out eating dinner, and then the scene where Latifah is trying to teach him how to make love to a woman. Good stuff...Martin at his best provides glimpses of why his career took off in the 80s. The Queen was all right, but I think she's a little overrated as an actor ever since her oscar nomination for Chicago. Overall, this film was good entertainment for a lazy, weekend evening. Good laughs!

I saw this movie when it was at theaters. I remember thinking it was a little stereotypical, but I enjoyed it too. I'll probably rent it to get a few laughs again.

I concur! BDtH was one of the funniest I've seen this year. Queen Latifah and Martin's team-up was great.

I thought this movie was horribly cliche and unfunny. I don't think I laughed once, and my friend and I were contemplating walking out of the theater to see something else.

I love Steve Martin in anything and this one was no exception. Very funny, and great comedic chemistry between him and Queen Latifah. Some very funny scenes. Just a fun movie to watch.

Movie was a joke.
If you thought placing a white man in a black woman's world was hillarious, just wait 'till you see "Marci X", a completely original concept in which,... get this... a white woman is being placed in a black man's world!!!

I liked Bringing Down The House. Other Latifah movies that I think were equally good but did'nt get no love or went unoticed in theatres was, Brown Sugar & Living Out Loud.
