can someone please tell me what happens in the alternate ending of 28 days later? i saw the movie before it was released.

Im pretty sure the main character dies in a hospital, and the two girls are shown crying, it ends on a down note.

I cannot begin to tell you how mad I was when I heard about that alternate ending. Ohhh... I cursed that movie.
