They are releasing single disc editions of Gladiator, Shrek, and Minority Report. Does anyone know if they are pulling the 2-Disk Editions of the shelf like they did for Cast Away, Independence Day, The Abyss and a few of the other 5-Star Editions?

Also, two movies I would love to have Special Editions of are Goodfellas and Batman. There are just the barebones Warner Bros. editions available.

Any info on these topics?

No for sure info, but I heard awhile back that WB was thinking of a 2 disk version of Batman, but this was at the same time as a 2 disk matrix coming out before reloaded. I don't think it will be happening anytime soon. Personally I would love to see 2 disk versions with anamorphic widescreen and some DTS lovins! I watched the first Batman movie night before last and the video transfer looked like it came straight from a VHS!

Goodfellas is in the works. Not too sure on the date though. It looked likely to come later this year, but that is seeming less and less likely.

Thanks for the info. There are so many WB DVDs that need to come out with a Special Edition of some sort.

Oh dammit!! All these years and I finally decided to buy "The Abyss"....I KNEW I had seen it as a 2-disc edition earlier. I passed it up a hundred times, too.

Dammit, dammit, dammit.....well at least I got most of the other ones you mentioned....

Actually what happened was they pulled the 2-disc editions of Cast Away, The Sound of Music, Independence Day, The Abyss, and there was one other, it skips my mind. Anyway, they released single editions of these. Then just the other day, Best Buy had brand new 2-disc versions of those same 5 movies. I bought Cast Away and Independence Day. They are not as nice a the 5 star editions that preceded them , but they are nice 2 disc cardboard boxed editions. Very nice. So, head to Best Buy and pick up The Abyss for $19.99 before it is no longer available.

You know I mentioned this on another thread. Are these new 2-disc editions the exact same as the old ones with a different case or do they have different extras? That's what I'd like to know. I'd be pretty pissed off if now they were not only releasing various versions of the same movies to take our money but now also releasing the exact same dvd's but in different cases to trick us into buying the same movie we already have!!! When will it all end???!!!

Never! It will never end. I looked at my buddy's version of Cast Away and Independence Day. Same extras, just a different case. Now granted you can only buy the single-disc editions or the originals now, so if you didn't buy the 2-disc versions before, these new ones are the ones to get. Also, the case for Cast Away is much nicer than before. I saw online they are releasing single disc versions of Shrek and Gladiator, and a couple others. So, I wonder if they will take the 2 disc versions away and then re-release them or what? Who knows. Why not just come out with one cheap barebones edition for the people who just want the movie and one Collector's, Special, etc Edition for the real DVD freaks like us?

Why not just release one damned version of the movie and leave it at that? I'm getting sick of buying 80 different T2 and Army of Darkness DVDs.

I have totally given up keeping track of all the DVD releases of "Army of Darkness". There's like a million of 'em...
