i never got to see this movie in the theaters because it hardly played anywhere, but what did those of you who saw it think. Mickey Rourke as the cook was great and Jason Schwartzman and Britney Murphy both had commendable roles. Leguizamo was funny too. it was alot like Requiem for a Dream but not as good IMO. but it still scared me pretty good. drug movies are much more scary to me then any other jason or halloween moviees, they are much more real. thoughts?

I enjoyed this one a lot. Like you said, it was rather disturbing. One thing that impressed me about it was that the humor came from the characters, not from the situations. What they did/said was funny, not what happened to them.

very true. i loved it when Mickey Rourke got caught in the porno store. "God damn in the back of a prono store." his delivery was great. Leguizamo shooting Frisby in the balls was funny too.
Did you see the rated or unrrated version? i can find the unrrated version anywhere.

i also liked how they had alot of cameos in it too. Billy Corgan, Rob Halford, it was great.

I got stuck with the rated version, they don't carry unrated at Blockbuster. I'll bet I can get it unrated on Pay-Per-View though.

I don't know, I would love to get my hands on the unrated cut.
The soundtrack in the movie was excellent, but I don't think they sell it. :(

I haven't seen the movie....but i did see the first 15 minutes of it on ifilm and it's trailer....it looks funny....but also at the same time very disturbing....the editing (from what I saw) is all over the place, fast and crazy, which is fine (because it's intentional) since the characters are always on drugs........I want to see the movie.......but haven't gotten around the time to......but I will try to see it.

I saw the movie. Overall it was an OK film because It didn't really blow me away. The performances in the movie were good, though not perfect and the 'atmosphere' of the movie isn't anything new. Comparing SPUN to REQUIEM, I found that this movie is much more tamer and calmer, other than being gripping and disturbing like the other movie. SPUN really had nothing that made me grip onto my seat such as a very graphic scene or a powerful performance, It just made me sit. But looking at SPUN, on it's own....well nothing else....it was fine....I didn't feel any compassion for the characters, other than Jason Schwartzman, Brittany Murphy and Mickey Rourke's character, because these characters were the most explored but as for the other characters, they seems as though they don't really want anything else, other than just wanting to be 'spun'. I really wished though that John Leguizamo, Mena Suvari and Patrick Fugit's character's were more explored because that would have just sealed me onto the film, and they all are great actors, but they were put to waste. I have to admit it was funny and it did have some disturbing scenes but nothing that made me feel anything.......overall I think SPUN is a movie that if you want some time to pass or whatch a movie that doesn't really dig deep into human emotions then this movie is an instant recomendation.
