"Terminator 2: Judgment Day: The Ultimate Edition" has been given a brand new Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX soundtrack, as well as an even better DTS 5.1 ES track. Now unfortunately I do not have the Surround EX or ES capabilities in my set-up, but listening to this incredible mix I personally can't say that I miss it much. The sound here still engulfs you totally, and as the opening sequence gets under way (which is one of the coolest opening sequences ever), there remains no doubt as to whether or not this mix will reach the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, and completely envelope you in the process. The DTS 5.1 soundtrack is a tad better than the Dolby Digital 5.1, but the difference here are not major, so either way you're guaranteed one helluva time watching this film. Comparing the Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 tracks, I found the bass to be stronger and firmer on the DTS 5.1 mix, and also the spatial resolution to be richer and more seamless. The DTS 5.1 mix also eliminates the phantom zones with an increased efficiency that you will not find on the Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. But again, whichever track you listen to, it is bound to bring a smile to your face.

i have 115 DVD's, and here are my Demo discs that really show off my 5.1 system (they are in no particular order)

Die another day (the Bond/Zao Car chase is amazing especially in the subwoofer)

DareDevil (pretty much the entire movie)

Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones (the Arena Battle)

Black Hawk Down (any action scene in the film)

LOTR FOTR EE (the entire movie)

The Matrix (any gun fight and 360 degrees scenes)

Jurassic Park (T-Rex scenes, and Gallimimous heard scene)

Terminator 2 UE (any Harley scenes, and the ending)

Alien Ressurection (yeah the movie sucked but the sound on the DVD is really nice, particularly the scenes after they get out of the water and they are cimbing the ladder))

I think that FOTR: EE, AOTC, the Matrix and the Pulp Fiction collectors ed. have the best sound of any DVDs. If only I had a surround sound system to match my awesome TV. Stupid money.

Thanks for all the suggestions I'll probably use all the recommendations on different freinds. But the first film I'll watch on the home theater will be 2001: A Space Odyssey, It most likely won't have that great a mix but there's just no beating "Thus Sprach Zarathustra" to introduce something cool.

I like Star Wars: Episode I, the Podrace sequence. But it's only Dolby Digital 5.1. I like to demo with DTS if I can, and for that I use the FOTR:EE. But you gotta admit, even without DTS that podrace is killer for sound.

Terminator II on DTS is also an excellent choice!! :)
