Seabiscuit. A wonderous and marvelous film. Great acting, cinematography and race track action. Uplifting and very rewarding this horse had character, determination and heart. And he shows it on the screen. Don't miss it. A marvelous experience. grade A-.;) ;) ;) ;)

I saw it last night, very good film.
The best I've seen this year is still Finding Nemo, though.

It's a movie about a frikkin horse. Nothing positive can come of it.

Seabiscuit was a great racehorse and it's a great story. Plus it has two of the greatest actors around in it, Tobey Maguire and Chris Cooper. I'm not sure of the mass appeal of a film like this, but the critics love it, and I bet the Academy will too.

Its not just about a horse, is about life, is about triumph, is about life changing experiences. Is about three man whos lifes are so different are united by one horse. Is about a time of depression, the Great Depression, and how the country found a new hope. Is about life throwing you down and getting back up.
Is really a great film, you should give it a try. :)

I also like the way the film looks, the score was nice too, especially the the score you hear when Seabiscuit wins his first race.
There this shot close to the beginning of the film where you see Cooper's character riding after wild horses, wow, so beautiful. The way the camera moved over the horses.

All Seabiscuit proves is that Tobey needs to wear a mask to get people to see his movies.

Seabuscuit is soooo inspiring! I think it deserves an Oscar!

Doofy, you just think it's bad because you didn't get the point of the movie! Watch it again, and you might just get it the next time.

Actually, Seabiscuit had a higher per-screen viewership than any other movie this week. You need to remember that it was released on 1400-1500 fewer screens than Spy Kids 3 or Lara Croft:Tomb Raider 2.

The problem is, Seabiscuit will be long forgotten come Academy Award nomination time. Everybody will still have the films released in late November/December in their minds, and won't even remember Seabiscuit from five months ago. Sad but true, just look at Road to Perdition last year to see what I mean.

It depends on how many other films come out and how good are they, it really doesn't matter when the film comes out as long as it makes an impact on the Academy, look at Gladiator for example, it came out in May and it still got nominated and won for Best Pic.

True. Silence of the Lambs came out in February, and it cleaned out all the major awards, one of only 3 films to do that.
And Seabiscuit will be among the favorites for all the major awards, I expect (except Best Actress or Best Supporting Actress).
Road To Perdition was great, but had 2 things going against it: 1) it was considered too gloomy by many, and 2)as with comedies, there's a bias against movies coming from graphic novels (seen as "comic books", popular but not true art).

Sorry! I know Seabiscuit will be good (I haven't seen it yet :( ) but I don't see how anything can top POTC for me!

This really was an AMAZING movie. Everything about it was great.

And for those of you who think this movie is just about a horse - you couldn't be more wrong. It's about a time few (if any) of us were alive through and it's such a spectacular look back at the what the world we live in used to be like. The horse if anything is just the common thread shared by some amazing characters.

Whether it's the trainer, Smith; the jockey, Red (maguire) ; or the owner Charles Howard (bridges) - you're reminded of the kind of people that were a rarity then and almost completly non-existent these days. It's a story of hope, triumph and overcoming adversity and it's one of the best movies I've seen in SEVERAL years.

My favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption because of the feeling I had after watching it - that feeling of WOW, that was really just a great movie, and it really had something to say. There's a short list of films like it on my list - American Beauty is one, Dead Poets Society, A River Runs Through It and The Emperor's Club are others. SeaBiscuit definitely joins this list.

If you think the art of great cinematic storytelling is dead, GO SEE THIS MOVIE. It's a perfect example of a great movie because it's a great story that's splendidly acted. It doesn't need cheap special effects because it's just that good.
