(I was reading my poem, which is called untitled and I got an idea for a storyline (it seems to be the most popular one of all of the other poems i've written before). hope you like this)
She remained in bed for five minutes after she woke up. The sunshine shined through her room, the blinds open all the way. Mara, entering her senior year of high school, got up and closed the shades. She closed the door and looked at the time. With a small smile on her face she said...
Mara: 7:25, too early.
Mara then got back under her dark red blanket sheets and closed her eyes, already fully awake but trying to get herself back asleep.
Seconds later, someone knocked on her door. She pulled the dark red covers over her head and said...
Mara: Who is it? I'm sleeping.
Mother: Mara, it's almost 7:30, get up, or you'll be late for school.
Ah yes, school. The chamber locking hundreds of students on one huge patch of cement forced to learn things that they would never take too much interest in, Mara thought to herself.
She opened her eyes and pulled the covers from over her face. She looked at her door and shouted...
Mara: I'll be ready in a few. Don't worry, I'll make it on time.
Mother: Alright then.
Mara, slightly upset about getting up at that horrid time, made her bed and pulled a shirt and jeans from her drawer. She got herself dressed and ready for school in good time to tackle the normal morning traffic.
As Mara was about to close the door, she looked out into the small neighborhood of hers. She remembered all of the memories she's made in this neighborhood. But I'm not moving out right now, she thought to herself as she got into her dark blue ford focus and took off to her school.
Mara parked her car in the normal spot of hers, closest to the exit and farthest from the school. As she walked up towards the school, she fixed up her hair, taking it out of a ponytail, letting her long black hair fall down close to her elbow. Her kakhi jeans and white shirt made her hair stand out even more so as she lifted her backpack up on her shoulders.
That's when she first saw him.
He was with a couple of guys, tall, just like him. He was built, and he was on the football team. Mara remembered him, because she had seen the number 52 on a jersey before while watching one of the games. He raised his hand up and sliced back his dark brown hair, when he noticed Mara. He gave her not a fake smile like he had done a many times before with everyone else, but a real smile, a warm kind smile. Mara saw that instantly and smiled back slightly at him but then reverted her attention back towards walking back onto the campus enterance.
The football player went and took off his jacket, talking with the other two guys he was with as he swung it over his shoulder.
Mara saw him out of the corner of her eye, him putting his other hand in his jean pocket as he was looking back at her. Mara stopped and changed her direction towards to where the player was. He may look like a stupid stud I would like to say hello to him, she thought.
She started her way towards him. As she almost was within reach of him a friend of hers cut her off, greeting her with the usual big hug.
I like you and all but geez did you have to do that, Mara thought to herself as she walked with her friends into the campus, ready to start the school year, not knowing how different this year would be to her and others.
(please tell me whether i should continue or not on this. i just started with the intro and stuff, yeah, just read the poem and you'll see what i'm getting at and no i won't end it as the poem ends...but yeah)

Mara's first day of school was like the other first days of her sophmore and junior year, but something was different this time around. At lunchtime, while her and a couple of her friends were sitting at a table outside near one of the school buildings who so happened to catch Mara's eye was the football player number 52. Mara stared into his dark green eyes for a second, and then, realizing that she was looking at a total stranger in her case, turned away.
The next day though, Mara was in for a tiny suprise.
The bell rang. Mara walked out of her last period class of the day, getting out from the school enterance and walking towards her car. She got to her car and she saw him, number 52, leaning on it, arms crossed, looking at her with his dark green eyes. They were mesmerizing to Mara as she stopped walking, inches away from him and the car, looking back at him with her dark brown eyes.
Mara: What is it?
The football player blinked and stood up straight. He slicked back his brown hair with his hand and said to her in his strong deep voice...
Jed: Well you see, I just wanted to talk to you that's all. I've admired you from afar and---
Mara: Enough please. I'm sorry to interrupt out conversation but I must go home. If you wish to we can continue it tomorrow if you aren't too busy hanging out with your jock friends and ignoring the little people like me.
Jed: Your not little. Your just as popular.
Mara: Hah, really? That's interesting, I haven't heard that before. It's suprising hearing this from you. Let me guess, your probably forced for money to talk to me or something? Or do you just want to do me? Sorry but I'm not like that, now if you'll excuse me...
Mara walked towards her car door and then Jed blocked Mara by going in front of her. Mara sighed and looked at him, leaning to her side and said...
Mara: Yes, what is it now?
Jed: It's not like that. I really just want to talk to you. I've never really seen you around the school campus before.
Mara: Really? I'm sure you have, but you didn't have any time to notice me, because frankly my dear I'm not as great and all powerful in the social chain as you are here.
Jed: What does that mean?
Mara: It means nothing now please move.
Jed, a bit suprised by what Mara said, moved out of the way. As she got herself into the car she noticed a little note on the side of the windshield. As she unbuckled her seatbelt and opened the car door (as Jed was walking away towards his group of buddies) she noticed that the note had some writing on it of course. She took it off and looked at it.
It was Jed's phone number and screename for an online instant messaging service. A bit upset Mara looked over at Jed, who was at the other side of the parking lot already, who gave her a quick wave goodbye. Mara, not believing that he would actually do that, decided to crumple up the piece of paper.
But then a thought crossed her mind. What if he really does want to get to know you Mara, she thought. What if he's actually not full of himself as he shows himself to be and just wants to talk. With the sudden change of thought, as Mara got into her car and locked the doors, she slipped the crumpled piece of paper in her purse, keeping it, but not wanting to use it, but maybe...

oh poems, well er, haven't had that much inspiration (as in i was kinda in the same moods, well not suicidal, but sad and then i think of other things that have happened before, and well, i can't think of anything right now). i'll update tomorrow (because i'll have nothing to do tomorrow after summer school, thank you). er but i do have this tiny poem i made for fun though...
Malice, hate pain.
In a flash.
Weeping.
Oh sweet death.
Leave me alone.
Why must this all be?
Such pain you inflict.
Lights are all out now.
The end.
(kinda retarded poem but meh...hehe)

(yeah, just talkin bout a person who murders a whole bunch of people, yep :p. now back onto the story)
For the rest of the week Mara was being encountered by the football player #52, aka Jed. Mara was getting sick of this pretty fast, but she thought to herself, well I like the attention I'm getting because he keeps "running into me." Mara's never really been popular. She's only had a tiny group of friends and that was it. She was basically the lower part of the social food chain. And people seeing Jed trying to hang around her boosted up her social status, but it wasn't like she cared anyways.
It's the weekend, and Mara is glad to be home. She's got the normal weekend homework that was piled on her and the rest of her classmates by their teachers, but she got it out of the way by doing it on a Friday night.
So then the phone rang. Mara picked up the phone and said in the receiver...
Mara: Hello, this is Mara, who may I ask is calling?
Alexis: Geez doesn't your caller id ever work on here? I thought that you'd recognize my number after a couple of years by now.
Mara: Sorry, that's just how I am, you know that. So what's up?
Alexis: So what was up with you and the football jock? Ever since first day of school he's been trying to talk to you, poor guy. Wonder if he wants to ask you out...
Mara: Oh shutup. Like a person like him would go out with me. You must love to dream, you know that? He even had the nerve of giving me his number and screename for online.
Alexis: Interesting...what DID happen between you two in the parking lot? You never told me. Tell me, I must know.
Mara: Lexi, if you want to help out this Jed guy on his stupid bet or whatever your more than welcome to. I just won't give in.
Alexis: Mara, I would never do that to you. Your my best friend and nothing's going to change that.
Mara: Then be a good friend and butt out of this! I don't need to start off senior year with a guy who I'm running into everytime at lunch and stuff. I need to concentrate more on my studies. It's my career first, then I'll worry about my love life later.
Alexis: Sorry...just that...well, I mean sure you didn't have a good relationship with that guy in sophmore year, but it's different now. Were in a sense different now. Were seniors. It does not matter how popular we are were the queens of the campus and we should hook you up immediately with the football player!
Mara: Alexis...no wonder your name means helpful...besides you never give up whenever you stumble across something that requires you to be miss cupid.
Alexis: Yes but for me it's always hard to get a guy. Oh well. Look I have to get off the phone the mother is yelling at me for no reason once again. I'll call you tomorrow.
Mara: Alright then Lexi, bye.
Mara turned off the phone and lightly threw it on her bed. She looked out the window out at the neon-glowing city. She lied down on her twin sized bed, front on the bed as she looked out and wondered about Jed. He's been bugging her so much. What if he did like her? But why then? They've never spoken a word to each other until the start of this school year. Maybe...maybe I should be nice to him. Maybe I should give him a chance. Who knows what the future holds for me.
And with that thought of Mara walked over to her computer in her room and turned it on. Online conversation to her was the easiest way to talk to someone. As she logged onto her screename she took out her purse from the other side of the room and took out the crumpled piece of paper. She opened it up, tried to flatten it and added him onto her buddy list.
Mara: Well that was a bit suprising.
Alexis: How was it suprising? Is it because you found another dude who's interested in you?
Mara: No it's not that...it's just...weird you know.
Alexis: No I don't know, and don't screw this one up either. I'm going to help you bag him on your first date.
Mara: And so your suddenly the expert?
Alexis: I've been on more dates than you honey so yes in a way I am.
Mara and Alexis sat themselves down in front of a local Starbucks inside one of the popular shopping malls. Mara didn't like shopping malls and she usually doesn't go to them unless she wants to see a movie. Sadly in Mara's case they didn't see a movie but basically window shopped the whole day.
Mara: These crowds make me feel uncomfortable.
Alexis: You have to mingle once in awhile. It isn't going to kill you Mara.
Mara: Your right. I'm just so used to being by myself or with so few of people around me.
Alexis: So what happened with the conversation? Anything happen to pop up like a "Will you go out with me this next friday night" or anything like that?
Mara: No but he was close I assume. But doesn't matter. Better that he didn't say that question at all.
Alexis: Look I know your afraid of getting hurt and don't worry, I'm here for you.
Mara: Well me getting hurt wasn't just emotionally.
Alexis: Mara...
Mara: I know I never really talked about it but I know if someone would try to pull the same stunt again that I'd probably go to the edge like I did last time.
Alexis: Look it was pretty stupid of what he did to you but if that tries to happen again you know you should never revert to that.
Mara: Your right...
So Mara and Alexis hung out for the rest of the day at the shopping mall. As Mara sat in her room that Saturday evening she looked up at her ceiling and reminiscned about those feelings, how terrible that was.
Well it'll be different this time around, Mara thought to herself. We'll go out, I know he won't try to embarass me or anything, he sounds like a pretty nice guy. Everything will be fine this year, I shouldn't worry about it.
Mara turned to her side and then fell asleep thinking about Jed...

So the weekend passes and Mara is once again back at her high school. On Monday Jed approached her (and she didn't stop him) and he asked her to go out with him. Mara (after about a minute's thinking) said yes. Her lunch this time was different...
Alexis: You said yes? Mara that's great. You lucky son of a b---
Mara: Just hope everything will go right.
Alexis: *slaps Mara in the back* Don't worry Mara, it'll go fine.
Mara: And how do you know that? *raises eyebrow*
Alexis: Well...I mean, the guy likes you, and you like him...so I would assume things would go fine.
Mara: Who said that I l---
Jed: Hello ladies.
Jed crept up behind the lastes as they were having their conversation. Jed sat right next to Mara as he flashed his hollywood smile at people who were looking at him. Mara looked around, feeling a bit uncomfortable as Jed was next to her. Wonder what this guy's up to, she thought to herself.
Alexis, shocked and strangely satisfied at the same time as a huge grin spreaded across her face, scooted close to the table facing Mara and Jed. Jed then said...
Jed: You two sounded talkative. What happened, did I kill the conversation...or was I part of the conversation and didn't know it?
Mara: You weren't part of the conversation (but you really were, she thought to herself). We were just talking about our classes.
Jed: Classes. Hey don't I have you in my math class? *points to Alexis*
Alexis: Yes, I remember you. Nice to see a familiar face. So I heard you and Mara were gonna go out. Is it true?
Mara turned scarlet red as she sunk in her seat. Jed looked at her then back at Alexis and said...
Jed: Yeah. We are.
Then suddenly someone grabbed Jed's shoulder. It was one of the football players. He whispered something in his ear and then Jed turned to Mara (who was still kinda scarlet). He said to her and Alexis...
Jed: I'm sorry Mara and Mara's friend. I have to go now. But I hope to see you two later.
Jed then kissed Mara on the cheek and walked away from the two with his football friend. Mara sat up right and saw him walk away, her hand lightly touching the part of her face where he kissed her. Alexis looked over at Mara and said...
Alexis: Well...this is starting to turn out quite interesting...Don't you think?
Mara: Yeah...

thanks cc and rebecca (supposedly the only two reading this)
Mara went through the rest of the day acting like her normal self, not showing what she was really thinking of. As she finally came to the comfort of her own home she lied down on her maroon colored bed, looking up at the ceiling, and lightly touching the place where Jed kissed her.
I hope I didn't get him into too much trouble, Mara thought to herself. She turned to her side and continued staring at the wall, replaying parts that were the hilight of her day. When he asked her out, he looked serious. And then when he was given trouble from one of the football players, he left me with a little kiss on the cheek.
Mara: It was just a tiny kiss on the cheek. People do that all the time.
But this one is different, isn't he? Didn't have the same feeling with your ex as you did him, thought Mara. Your ex broke your heart and left it in the mud, and that almost drove you to suicide. With this dude, I'm sure he won't do that, unless things go from bad to worse...
Mara shrugged off the thoughts and slipped into a dreamless sleep as she thought of how the situation could get worse perhaps...
The week went by pretty fast for Mara's liking (although she didn't show it to Alexis or anyone else that knew her even the slightest bit). Mara talked to Jed the Thursday night before via instant messanger and they were planning on meeting up in front of a local movie theater.
Anxious to get out of school and get ready Mara sat in her usual long boring lectures from her teachers (keeping her anxiousness hidden). As the last bell rang for them to let out Mara gave a little squeal. Alexis turned to her and Mara cleared her throat and stared at Alexis with a straight expressionless face and said...
Mara: What?
Alexis: Oh nothing...nothing at all.
As Mara got her things Alexis smiled slightly, knowing how her friend is when it came to these kinds of things.
Evening came upon them.
Mara was dressed in nice black pants and a cute spaghetti strapped blood red shirt. Her makeup matched her. I look perfect, she thought to herself as she drove off to the movie theater.
Mara walked up to the enterance of the movie theater and waited for Jed to arrive. Mara was about five minutes early of when they were supposed to meet up but that was fine with her.
So five minutes passed. Then ten. Mara started to get worried. He's probably caught some traffic on the way over here, she thought to herself as she sat down on a bench.
Twenty minutes passed and Mara was worried and sad at the same time. She dialed up the number to his house and no one answered. Well, if I wait a tad bit longer, I'll probably see him.
So about ten more minutes passed. Mara, upset, bolted up from her seat and walked to her car. She calmed down a bit as she headed over there, thinking maybe he was actually leaning on the car the same way he did the other day, and is waiting for me there right now.
Mara then walked fast over to her car. As she walked past the last corner that covered where her car was, she shouted...
Mara: Jed, sorry to keep you waiting. I didn't think you'd...
Mara stopped dead in her tracks as she looked over at her car and realized that Jed wasn't there. Mara mumbled to herself a few profanities as she walked over to her car and drove off, overall just plain sad that she was stood up for her first date with a football jock.
Mara: I should have known better...

Mara: Yep, it looked like that, seeing that I was at the movie theater for about a half hour to fourty five minutes. Wouldn't you think?
Alexis: I'm sorry Mara. Well, maybe he forgot!
Mara: ...Forgot?...
Alexis: Well, I don't know. Maybe he had something else to do.
Mara: Like what for a good example?
Alexis: Maybe...he went to the wrong theater.
Mara: He was the one who planned all of this anyways. Why would he forget which theater to go to? Wouldn't he have bothered calling me up on my cell phone?
Alexis: Your right about that...don't worry, if he's still acting like a jerk to you at school, I'll find you another guy.
Mara: ...Another guy?...
Alexis: Yep, another one.
Mara: I think I've had my shares of guys for the whole senior year, don't you think?
Alexis: Mara...don't give up all hope on guys. I mean--
Mara: I know your TRYING to help lexi, but it's not helping as you can clearly see. I'm gonna turn in for the night. I'll see you at school. Goodnight.
Alexis: Mara wait, but---
Mara hung up on Alexis in the middle of her sentence. With a deep sigh Mara fell back on her maroon bed.
Looks like some things aren't as they seem on the outside, Mara thought as she folded her arms behind her head and stared up at the ceiling once more. She closed her eyes and remembered what happened between her and her last boyfriend as she went into a sleep mainly on reminiscing...
Mara: Oh Richard, what a beautiful night this is.
Richard: Yeah it is.
Mara and Richard are sitting on a bench in the park. The moon and the stars are out shining upon this lovely couple. Mara tries to get close to Richard but he nudges her away. Hurt a bit, Mara looks at Richard and says...
Mara: Is something wrong?
Richard: Well...there is something on my mind.
Mara: Go ahead, speak up. I'm listening.
Richard: *clears throat* Well I've been thinking. Thinking about us.
Mara: Yeah *smiles gently*
Richard: Well I feel like we've been growing apart from each other. I just don't feel the same as you do. I love you, but I don't know how anymore.
Mara: ...What?...
Mara stands up from the bench and looks down at Richard. Richard stands up and says to Mara...
Richard: Yes Mara. I...I think we should see other people.
Mara: I see...okay. Have fun.
Mara quietly and calmly walks away from Richard. She waits until she gets to her house to shed her tears of sorrow. Mara then reverts to another memory not soon after.
A week passes after Mara and Richard broke up. Alexis tried to cheer up Mara but it was no use. She sunk into a depression. She loved him, loved him so much that she would die for him. That's when she thought of it.
Mara: I will die for him. Then he'll know how much I love him.
Mara, walking out of her room, walked quietly downstairs in the middle of the night, taking a knife from the silverware drawer. She walked upstairs and went to her bathroom. She turned on the light that showed her face. She didn't look like her normal self. She was paler than usual, not really having a good night's sleep in days. Her black hair, messily tied up in a high bun.
Mara lifted the knife up in the light, the tip of it shining in the bright light. This is it, Mara thought to herself. I love you. I love you so much that I'll prove it to you. You never believed me in the first place Richard. Now you'll see the consequence of your decision. You hurt me. You hurt me so much that it's all lead up to this. Whatever happened to us? Doesn't matter now, talk for this is too late.
As soon as Mara thought of that Mara took the knife in her right hand and extended her wrist in front of her. She stared at it for a few minutes, looking at the veins, thinking this is it. But do I really want to go all the way?
Her right hand shaking, Mara looked at the knife in her hand. Do it now, she thought to herself. But should I? Yes, yes I should, before I change my mind. Go on Mara, do it. Not like anyone else cares for you. Not like anyone ever did really love you. Your all alone. All alone, so cold...so much pain...
Mara then firmly grasped the knife in her right hand. She looked down at her wrist and was about to cut it when she slipped and cut her hand deeply. Shocked as the deep red blood started to flow freely from her hands, she tried again. Again this time she cut her thumb, then the back of her left wrist.
Mara fell to her knees, the blood starting to spill on the bathroom floor. Tears came out of her eyes as she felt the pain from the wounds. She stood up and staggered around, looking for a towel. She found one near her. She grabbed it quickly and covered her hand. Looking around, not knowing how she could cover this up, she just sat down, crying, her tears falling onto the blood-stained floor...
The weeks passed. It went from September to October. The school's homecoming was already starting to get lots of hype from the normal gals who always talk about make-up and such. Mara ignored all of the talk she heard from the halls. The only person she talked to outside of the classroom was Alexis. She did pass by Jed a couple of times as he tried to catch her eyes but failed.
Alexis and Mara sat down at their usual lunch spot on the autumn Wednesday in mid-October. A few leaves fell in their food as they sat in silence. Alexis finally spoke up and said...
Alexis: Mara you've got to stop ignoring the guy.
Mara: Why not?
Alexis: At least stay friends with him. You never got to hear him out anyways. He tried talking to you several times and with the flick of your hair and closing your locker you walked away. What's up with that?
Mara: Look, I know that you think that we would've made the perfect couple, but things didn't work out, at all. So let this topic die in an eternal slumber, alright?
Alexis: Sorry...
The last bell of the school day ended. Mara got her books out of her locker and was about to walk towards the enterance when Jed showed up in front of her. He looked at her with his dark green eyes and said...
Jed: Hello.
Mara: Hi.
Mara looked away as Jed lightly grabbed hold of her hand. He said to her...
Jed: Can't you at least look at me? I'm sorry.
Mara: It's alright, I'm quite used to being stepped on and everything else, so that experience wasn't too new to me.
Jed: I didn't know that we'd have a meeting that friday night for the football players. If I would've known earlier if---
Mara: Wonderful excuse. I'm sorry but I must leave. There's a thing called homework that we teenagers are forced to do against our will or else we have no future. I hope you understand.
Mara then gently pulled her hand away from Jed and walked out of the hallway, leaving Jed there staring back at Mara walking away.

The October days slipped away and as soon as the school knew it, it was nearing homecoming week. Mara, very much not in the mood as the rest of the school was, even Alexis, she let herself be drawn out from the others, hardly speaking to Alexis as this time came by.
Alexis, worried about Mara, treated her to some ice-cream at a local mall after school on a Thursday, a week before Halloween.
Alexis and Mara sat themselves at a table at the edge of the food court. Mara took one bite of her ice-cream in a cup and looked up at the sky, placing a hand on her face.
Alexis, kind of wondering how Mara's mood was at the moment, started up the conversation by saying...
Alexis: You know, homecoming's coming up.
Mara sighed and placed both of her elbows on the table and looked up at Alexis. She then said...
Mara: I know, practically the whole school has informed me.
Alexis: Well yeah, you haven't got your ticket yet. You always go to homecoming...you better hurry up, because they'll stop selling the tickets after Monday.
Mara: So? I think I'll do the complete opposite this year. I think I'll avoid all school activities. How does that sound Lexi?
Alexis: Mara...please stop. I brought you here for a reason, to cheer you up, not to draw you away from the rest of the crowd at school.
Mara and Alexis sat in an akward silence for a minute or so. Mara then broke it by saying...
Mara: ...He tried asking me out again today...
Alexis' face lit up as soon as Mara said that. She slammed both of her fists on the table and said to her...
Alexis: Mara, you HAVE to go with him to homecoming! He's probably trying to ask you out for that!
Mara: What? No, no, and no, that wasn't what I was trying to say...
Alexis: Look, the only way you can get this dude is if you drag his butt to homecoming. You two together, dancing, and, well, c'mon Mara. Give you two a chance to be a couple!
Mara: A couple? Heh, last time anyone else heard that his friends threatened not to be his friends anymore because I was "Not popular like them."
Alexis: Oh c'mon Mara. Once with him at homecoming, you'll be up at his status.
Mara: That's just it. I don't want to be popular and I don't want to be anything else. I just...*sigh* I just want to be me. Not some make-up loving freak.
Alexis: Mara...I didn't mean it that way. Look, forget about popularity status at our retarded school. I've seen you...
Mara: Seen me what?
Alexis: I've seen the look in your eyes whenever he passes by. Your totally crushing on him.
Mara: Please...
Alexis: Fine then, who was last on your mind when we sat down a couple of minutes ago?
Mara: No one.
Alexis: Liar. That's it. I know what I must do now.
Mara: What...wait!
Alexis and Mara both got up. Mara grabbed onto Alexis' sleeve of her long-sleeved sweater and said...
Mara: Whatever you do...don't try to make things worse. Leave them the way they are.
Alexis: Fine. I guess...
Alexis and Mara walked out of the food court at the mall heading back to their houses. But an unsuspecting Mara was about to get a suprise...
* * * * * *
Mara: A ticket for...homecoming?!
Alexis: Yep, courtesy of Jed.
Mara: Lexi...*lowers her voice to a whisper* I told you not to try to make things worse! Why'd you talk to him?!
Alexis: I didn't. He just handed me the ticket and told me to give it to you and to talk to him after school today.
Mara: Oh God...Oh God...why...
Alexis: It's obvious that the guy digs you.
Mara: ...Digs me? Alright, lets go back to the homecoming topic for a second...why didn't you tell him that I decline his invitation to be his...date?
Alexis: Because...that would just break his poor little heart.
Mara: He's basically made out of muscle. I don't think this guy even has a brain to know that I don't want to go with him.
Alexis: Then there's only one thing to do.
Mara: ...And what's that?
Alexis: Talk to him after school of course.
Mara sunk into her seat as a leaf fell onto her forehead. Alexis smiled as she looked up at the sky and said to Mara at the lunch table...
Alexis: Yes, this is going to be quite an interesting senior year, don't you think so Mara?
Mara did not respond but she just continued looking at her homecoming ticket. He bought a ticket...for me? He wants me to be his date? God, this dude is going all out to pull off this prank. I wouldn't be suprised if he tried pulling the same stunt as he did with me on our supposed "first date." But still...maybe I should give him another chance...I mean...I do honestly like the guy. Not like I'll tell Alexis that, of course not. But still...

So as soon as Mara knew it (unfortunately) the last bell of the school day ended. Mara walked up to her car and was about to put the car in ignition when suddenly someone opened the passenger side car door and came in.
It was Jed. He was wearing a light blue, button-up shirt and dark blue jeans. He was holding a boquet of flowers and he said to Mara...
Jed: I thought that you were going to wait at the entrance for me after school.
Mara: I decided not to. What's with the flowers?
Jed: Well there for you sweetie.
Mara: *rolls eyes* Don't give me that sweetie stuff, now what do you want?
Mara turns her car off of ignition and looks at Jed. Jed then kisses Mara gently on the lips and says to her...
Jed: I want to go out with you tonight.
Mara slightly blushes in front of Jed and then turns away. Damn him, she thought to herself. He just had to pull that sweet stuff. It's making me feel all...mushy. What should I do? Should I ignore him again and drive off without a word or...actually hear him out?
Mara and Jed sat in silence for about a minute. As Mara turned to her other side where Jed was, she caught his dark green eyes staring back at her again. Without thinking, Mara then said...
Mara: If you want to. But it's not a date.
Mara and Jed then drove off towards the park which wasn't too far away from the school. They sat in the car in silence. Jed cleared his throat finally and said to Mara...
Jed: Mara, what's wrong? Why have you not been talking to me lately?
Mara: You know why, Jed.
Jed: Look, I'm sorry about standing you up on our first date, but let me make it up to you.
Mara: How so? By making things worse for me? I'm better off without talking to you, you know.
Jed: That's not what I meant Mara...
Mara: Then what did you mean? Its not like we CAN go out.
Jed: But I want to go out with you. I don't care what the others say.
Mara: Yeah and then by this time next week you'll be breaking my poor fragile heart.
Jed: No I won't, Mara, will you listen to what I have to say?
Mara turned to her side where Jed was sitting and she put her hands on her lap. She looked at him underneath her semi-long cut bangs with her dark brown eyes and said...
Mara: I'm listening.
Jed: *takes deep breath* I really really like you. I mean well, I wanted to get to know you and go out with you and all since the moment I saw you.
Mara: I'm sure you remembered me the other three years of your puny little high school life too, do you? No, I thought so.
Jed: Let me go out with you. I hate seeing you walking around, so out of it, so, in a way, depressed.
Mara: Fine, if it'll stop you from whining.
Jed: By the way, I'll pick you up, next Saturday at 7:30 at your place.
Mara: Al---what?...No, I didn't agree on that.
Jed: Please, sweetie.
Mara: Well...I don't know.
Jed: Make up your mind at the end of our date. Now scoot over, I'll drive us over to a good resteraunt.
Mara: Resteraunt?
Jed: Yep, that's just what I said Mara.
Jed smiled as Mara flicked her hair back. They switched seats and they both had a wonderful night (suprisingly, Mara thought to herself). They went to a nice resteraunt, and had a nice walk at the same park later on (nearby Mara's house).
Jed wrapped his arm around Mara and brought him close (the closest they've been all night long). Mara felt a tad uncomfortable but when she looked at Jed she smiled a huge smile. She liked the position she was at right now. Evening was falling upon them, the street lights started to turn on in the empty park as Mara and Jed walked over to a bench and sat down.
Mara looked down at her feet as Jed kept his arm wrapped around her. He looked at her and said...
Jed: Mara...what's wrong?
Mara: Nothing...just that...oh I don't know...
Jed: What is it?
Mara: Well...I've never been in a relationship in two years. I mean, I was fine the way I was before school started. Single and content with myself. But then, now I'm with you and...and...
Jed: Yeah?
Mara: And I don't want to revert back to my other lifestyle. I mean, I'm suprised at how great this evening has been. I thought we'd just talk and it'd be over, you go home, I go home, and no more to say. This is a strange feeling...
Jed: How is it a strange feeling?
Mara: Because...because I like spending time with you. And I hope we'll get to spend lots more time...in the future?
Jed: Sure, whatever you say.
Jed and Mara smiled at each other as they kissed each other. It was one of those moments you never want to get out of, or those wonderful times you spend with that certain someone that you never want to end. Well...Mara thought to herself, there certainly is going to be more if I can't help it.

The next week went by fast to Mara's liking. Throughout the whole week Mara and Jed were together, whether it was in the hallways, or outside. They were the new "popular" couple of the school. But they weren't popular in a good way. Ever since the start of the school week Mara and Jed had their share of problems thanks to the relationship that they just started...
Mara was confronted by a group of preppy girls at school on a cloudy Tuesday who told her to back off from Jed. Mara stood up straight, looked at the head girl in the eyes and said...
Mara: And what are you going to do to stop me? Throw a purse at me and start a catfight. I'm sorry but I do not want to sink as low as you all have already, by the looks of it.
Mara walked away from the preppy girls, feeling quite content of what she just said.
Jed was having worse problems with his friends...
Waldo: Look Jed, stop playing around. People see you as the team, the leader. Why do you want to hang out with that...girl?
Jed: Hey, don't say anything bad about my girlfriend or else you'll get a foot up your ass.
Eric: We don't give a **** if you've got a thing for this girl. Either break it up with her or your going to get your ass kicked.
Jed: So who the hell cares about popularity status? I just want to be with her, alright guys?
Waldo: Things aren't that simple. Break it off with her after homecoming or else your off of the team.
Jed: You idiot. Your not the coach.
Eric: We can get you off of the team...all of the players can...we can get you really beaten up making you not eligible to play for the rest of the season.
Jed: But I'm still on the team. Guys, are you saying you'll do anything to kick me off if I don't go with the rest of the football player's wishes about me and Mara together?
Waldo: That's it basically.
Jed pushed Waldo and Eric and said to them out loud...
Jed: Screw you two. I don't care!
Eric: Are you sure?
* * * * * * *
The homecoming game came and went in a flash. Their school football team, named the green devils, won 23-7. Everybody was all hyped out as they could be on the homecoming dance.
So the day came. Mara was dragged over to the local salon and got her hair fixed. The curls in her long dark hair bounced as she walked to her room to get her dress.
A beautiful shade of red (a blood red). It fit her like a glove, nice and long but able to show off her curves. I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to this, she thought to herself as she slipped on her long blood red gloves. She was all set for that night, which wasn't too far away.
Mara was excited and nervous at the same time. Not just because she hasn't been on the dance floor in so long, but because she was afraid that Jed was going to stand her up again and that this was all for nothing. But he wants to get to know you, and homecoming's a perfect time, she thought to herself.
She then pictured in her head another outcome this night can be. She'd hear the doorbell ring, and there she'd see Jed and one of the preppy girls, hand'n'hand. She could hear Jed's voice saying...
Jed: Sorry things didn't work out. God you look hideous, why'd you get dressed up? You, you actually thought, that we'd go to homecoming together. Did you hear that baby?
She then thought of him and the preppy girl laughing at Mara as she stood their in the doorway, in shock and so very sad. She dropped onto the floor on her knees, their laughter continuing as she stood there, looking at the floor slightly as tears freely fell down to the floor.
Mara was about to think of some other outcome but then the doorbell rang. Her heart racing, she walked downstairs, making sure that she looked perfect, and at the same time to expect the unexpected like her "alternative ending" to this night.
She walked over to the door and she opened it. She smiled slightly as she saw Jed, all spiffed up in black pants and a silky dark red shirt. He smiled as he saw Mara in her matching blood red dress. He lightly grabbed her hand and kissed it, saying to her...
Jed: I knew you would wear this color.
Mara giggled slightly and took his arm. Her parents took a couple of pictures of the two and then they walked off to his nice mustang, off to the homecoming dance...

This Homecoming was turning out even better then the years past, Mara thought to herself as they showed the tickets at the door to one of the teachers to be let in.
Then they entered a room dimly lit, a huge dance floor, and a few chairs propped up against the walls on the sides. There was a dj near the dance floor getting his music all set up for the dance as many people were already crowding around behind the dance floor, talking amongst themselves. She then saw her friend Alexis power-walking along the side of the dance floor heading towards Mara.
Alexis gave Mara a huge hug and said in her ear...
Alexis: (whispers) Mara, I need to talk to you.
Mara, bit suprised that Alexis wanted to bring her to the side, walked away from the crowds and Jed for a minute. Alexis whispered to Mara and said...
Alexis: Mara, I think some of the football players are going to try to do something bad to you two when your doing the first slow dance.
Mara: What? What are they going to do?
Alexis: I don't know, but I heard them whispering about some plan they made up about ruining homecoming night for you two. Mara you have to be careful. Make sure you don't run into any of them before or after the slow dance, you got it?
Mara: Alright, alright I'll try to stay away from them. Oh, Lexi?
Alexis: Yes?
Mara: Thanks for telling us.
Alexis: (smiles) Oh your welcome, that's what friends are for.
Alexis walked across the dance floor to where her and a couple of her friends were at while Mara met up with Jed. Jed smiled and wrapped his arms around Mara. He leaned down a bit and put his chin on her shoulder and said to her...
Jed: So has anyone been giving you any trouble today?
Mara: On this? No, thankfully no one has. It seems to me that all of the preppy girls are enjoying themselves with their tight dresses and ugly dates that make them feel "prettier". Thank God I'm not one of them...
Jed: Yeah, feels nice to go through a different change of pace this year.
Mara: What do you mean? (moves Jed's arms from her)
Jed: Well, I didn't mean that I'm doing this as a hobby or anything. I mean *sigh* I know that you've probably seen me with a different girl, what, every semester? But your different. It won't be like that this time.
Mara: ...And I'm sure you said that to your past girlfriends Mr. Stud. After the end of first semester it's off with me I assume. Ah this game of love that we play. When will you ever stop fooling around with us and let us win...
Jed: Mara, I feel like I already have won.
Mara: What, you mean am I fifth runner up. Where's the camera when you need it...
Jed: Mara, you know that I care for you deeply and you shouldn't ever forget about that. I'll always be here for you, no matter what.
Mara: Really? How sweet...Too bad I only half believe what you just said.
Jed: Ah Mara, I know just the thing to get us both out of this weird mood.
Mara: What do you propose on doing? A break-up?
Jed: Mara!
Mara: What, I was only kidding. (chuckles)
Jed: The music's playing. Lets go and tear up the dance floor.
Mara: Alright then, Jed.
Mara and Jed went out on the dance floor with their other classmates and danced it out. A half hour to forty-five minutes pass and then the dj announces...
DJ: After this song ladies and gents were going to do the first slow dance of the night. So you better pick out which lucky guy or gal you want to dance with before it starts.
Thinking nothing other than dancing and being with Jed, Mara's mind snapped back into reality that something was going to happen to either one of them that invovled a few of the football players plan to ruin tonight. Mara pretended to wipe sweat from her forehead and stopped dancing. She touched Jed's arm and said to him...
Mara: Well I'm pooped. How about we go out and get some air right now, shall we?
Jed: The next dance is the slow dance Mara, are you sure that your too tired at the moment?
Mara: Yes, I am. Lets get some air.
Jed: Alright then.
Mara and Jed stepped outside in front of a beautiful garden filled with all different types of flowers and a beautiful fountain as a centerpiece. The moon and the stars shined brightly as Mara and Jed sat down on a bench.
Mara looked up at the stars for a split second and then looked around to see if any of Jed's football player friends were nearby. She sighed a breath of relief as she looked over at Jed who stared back at her with his dark green eyes that seemed to sparkle in the moonlight.
Jed then pulled Mara in for a kiss. His hands lightly touched her arms and pulled her closer to him as they kissed. Mara then pulled away from Jed in the middle of their kiss and said...
Mara: I'm sorry Jed, but I have to tell you something. Your---
Mara stopped mid-sentence as Waldo and Eric, Jed's two former football player friends, walked up in front of the two and poured watered down fertilizer on the two. Mara looked at the liquid on herself in shock as Jed stood up and punched Waldo. Waldo punched Jed back in the mouth and sent him back to the bench where Mara was at.
Waldo looked at Jed, rubbing the side of his face where Jed punched him. Eric stepped near Jed and said...
Eric: I hope you two enjoyed that. Have a nice night.
Waldo and Eric walked away as some people from inside started to walk outside to see Mara and Jed. Alexis ran out from the crowd and went up to Mara. She said to her...
Alexis: Mara...Mara are you alright?
A tear or two trickled down Mara's face as she looked at Alexis, not with sadness, but with anger. She stood up and said to her in a loud voice...
Mara: Does it LOOK like I'm alright to you? I just got...**** all over myself and its all over Jed.
Alexis stepped a couple of steps back from Mara as Jed said to her...
Jed: C'mon Mara, let's get out of this place.
Mara and Jed walked away as silence came over the guests at the Homecoming Dance. Mara and Jed then went into Jed's mustang and drove off...

just to clear this up with everyone this is why i use the names for certain characters...
Jed: Beloved (which is what Mara will think of him soon nuff)
Mara: Sorrowful (that's how she feels whenever she thinks of her past relationship or what can happen or what has happened to her in her recent one)
Alexis: Helpful (she tries to help mara but that doesn't really help)
Richard: Stern King (as in how he broke up with mara and wasn't too loving as you'll find out later on)
Eric: Princely
Waldo: Power (basically for eric and waldo it means of how they are in social status at their high school)
[btw cecilia it was just coincidence that that's what his name means]

Jed drove Mara to her house, after them getting cleaned up a bit over at his house. He parked the car in front of her house, the streets empty, the only sound there of the two breathing as they looked down the dimly lit street and her darkened house. Jed wrapped his arms around Mara and said to her...
Jed: Mara, you alright?
Mara: Yeah, I guess so.
Jed: I'm so sorry Mara. I didn't know that...that those *******s would do that.
Mara: I should've told you earlier. Alexis told me about it before-hand and I didn't get to tell you before it was too late.
Jed: Well Mara, baby, don't worry about it. I'll straighten things up with them at school on Monday...
Mara: ...there probably thinking of wonderful new names for us...
Jed: ...and then everything will be better. Alright Mara?
Mara: ...maybe **** girl would be one of the less offensive "creative" ones that they would give me...
Jed turned Mara around to face him. She looked up into his dark green eyes, a stray tear coming down from her face. Jed wiped the tear away from her face with his hand and said to her...
Jed: Please don't cry Mara. I'm here, and I'll make sure that won't happen. If it does, well, that person is just asking for it. I'll make sure that they won't hurt you Mara.
Mara: Really?
Jed: Yep.
Jed then gently pulled Mara close to him, giving her a passionate kiss. As Mara broke away she looked into his dark green eyes and said almost in a whisper...
Mara: Goodnight, Jed.
* * * * * * * *
Alexis: Ignore them Mara.
Mara: Bit hard to tune them out when they have such a catchy tune to the name **** girl...
Linda: Hey **** girl, where's your stupid boyfriend? He's not here to protect you. Are you going to start crying? C'mon, do it **** face. Geez, you STILL smell like fertilizer. Maybe you should stay contained in your house for a couple of days before the smell goes away.
Alexis: Shutup. Leave Mara alone. It's not her fault that a couple of stupid people can't accept the fact that her and Jed are going out.
Linda: Look, I didn't like it when Jed got dumped with fertilizer, all I'm saying is that he went to homecoming with the wrong gal.
Alexis: He choose the right girl to go to homecoming with. All because you've been wanting Jed for some time now and missed out doesn't mean you can bring other people down because he just doesn't like you.
Linda: Your sure saying a lot for just being Mara's friend. What's wrong, **** face? Can't speak up for yourself?
Mara stared at Linda for a minute, her face expressionless. Alexis stood there, looking at the two of them, trying to make up eye contact to kind of determine what Mara was up to. People walked past the three, a few guys nearby them filling the hall with their laughter and the other student's ramblings of their weekend.
Mara stood up right, looked at Linda and finally said...
Mara: My name isn't **** face, as you already know, Linda. Reality isn't as fun as it seems, isn't it? Sure your a popular girl here for now at school, and your "beautiful" just as your name means, but you know it won't last for long. You won't survive in the real world for a day. You can't do anything better than to bring other people down to make yourself feel slightly superior. You think your the hot **** but really your not, especially with the guys. Also, the whole Jed thing, he never liked you. You just made yourself believe that because you wanted to rank yourself in the top ten with certain other popular people, isn't it? Your basically just damn jealous because Jed choose me, a girl at the bottom of the social status chain, instead of you, miss popular *****.
Linda stood there, filled with rage, as she saw Mara grin slightly at her. A few people crowded around where Mara, Linda and Alexis were at. Linda then jumped out and tried to punch Mara, but she dodged. Linda tripped and fell on top of a couple of students. She got up as Alexis blocked the two. Mara, from behind Alexis, said in a calm voice...
Mara: Calm down Linda. At least I'm not the one who wears granny panties.
The students around where Linda was standing up at saw that her skirt was slightly lifted up, revealing her very much unstylish panties she was sporting at the moment. Blushing and upset, she ran away from the crowd who were laughing and pointing at her.
Before Linda left, she turned around and shouted at Mara...
Linda: Mara, you just wait, Jed will be mine. You just wait, **** girl. Then maybe we’ll see you in the newspaper like last time!
Linda ran out of the hallway as students minded their own business as Mara stood there, staring at the floor. Alexis walked over to her, putting her hands on her shoulders.
Alexis: Mara...Mara are you okay?
Mara: Yeah, I’m fine. I just need to go outside and get some air.
Mara and Alexis walked outside to the lunch tables in silence as the cool fall breeze went through the hallways of the high school.
Kitty
08-23-2003, 12:40 AM
Mara went through the rest of the school day basically in silence, lost in her own thoughts. Alexis, slightly worried, said to Mara after school...
Alexis: Mara, you sure your fine?
Mara: Yeah, don't worry Lexi. I'm fine. See you tomorrow.
Alexis: Yeah, see ya.
Alexis waved at Mara as she pulled out and drove away from the high school to her house.
She threw her school things to the corner of her room and sat down in her chair. She leaned back and stared at the ceiling, so blank, so empty, just as she felt when things got worse for her when her sophmore year was coming to an end...
* * * * * * * *
Mara stayed in her house the next couple of weekends. Richard saw the damage she tried to inflict upon herself one day as they passed by each other in the hallway at school. It was his attempt of apologizing to Mara and hoping that they would be friends. But as he held her hands he noticed that she was wearing gloves.
Richard: Mara...why are you wearing gloves when it's almost summer.
Mara: Well, you should take a look at what's underneath.
Richard lifted up the gloves slighty and saw the deep scars that were on her hands. He firmly grabbed her hands and said in her ear in a whisper...
Richard: Mara, come over here with me.
Richard tightened his grip on Mara's hand as he walked her outside. She winched in pain as they sat themselves down in a couple of chairs.
Mara quickly pulled away from Richard, lifting up her glove from her right hand as it was lightly covered in blood. She stared at him and said...
Mara: So this is how you treat my love, huh? Just squeezing every last drop from it? What are you, some sort of vampire? This, this here, here's how much I love you. I would die for you.
Richard: Your stupid, you know that? Why in the hell would you want to do that? Just to show that your psycho? Look, Mara, you seem to not get this, it's over. You want me to spell it out to you?
Mara: But Richard...
Richard: Mara, now that I think about it, maybe the world WOULD be better if you weren't in it. Besides, think about it. Your not popular, you hardly have any friends, your parents could care less about you, and, lets face it: You'll basically be alone for the rest of your life. Do us all a favor and go away please.
Mara just sat there, still clutching her open wound, looking at Richard. The Richard she knew was dead. Someone, someone else replaced him. Hatred and sorrow filled Mara as she stood up and said in a calm voice...
Mara: Goodbye then, whoever you are.
Mara ran away from the lunch area, and from the school. She ran to her house where it was only herself. Crying and still lightly bleeding from her wound, Mara sat herself down on a chair in the kitchen. Tears coming out of her eyes, she looked around the kitchen and saw what she was looking for.
A knife shined through the crack of the kitchen drawer. Filled with anger, Mara walked over to the drawer and took it out. She threw out her left wrist, covered with bracelets to cover up the wounds. She threw them on the floor as she firmly grasped the knife handle and deeply cut her left wrist.
She stumbled and fell on her knees. The thick, red blood flowed onto the floor. Trying to finish the job, she switched hands. She tried all she could to get the other wrist cut but only slightly cut her thumb. Feeling faint, Mara let herself fall onto the floor, the blood trickling out of her veins. She looked up at the ceiling, at the blank and empty ceiling, and before she passed out, she heard someone familiar calling her name from a distance...
* * * * * * * * *
Mara lightly touched the scars on her wrists with her fingers as she looked up at the ceiling. She remembered the feeling: the terrible feeling of lonliness. Now, Mara and Jed were another story. Jed wasn't mean or anything like Richard. Jed was almost perfect in Mara's eyes. But no one else other than Alexis accepted that there going out.
Mara: (whispers) Maybe it's better that we should part.
But to let me break my heart on my own free will? This isn't what I wanted to happen, thought Mara. I wanted to go out with him, no worries. But I knew that it wouldn't happen, that everyone would go on living their normal lives, leaving us be. I must make the choice whether or not to stay with Jed. Although we haven't been going out for too long, this feeling is more complex, stronger than I've ever felt before. I swear, you could think that I was...dare I say it...in love, Mara thought to herself.
Mara let out a loud laugh that echoed through her room. Love, what is this word? If I ever told Jed that I loved him, and truly meant it, I would sound like the rest of the preppy girls who only do that to keep their guys with them for a bit longer at our awful school.
So Mara fell asleep, staring up at her ceiling, her mind drifting away from her thoughts on this subject that many called "love"...

The way you write is certainly unusual. Half descriptive/half script. You set the scenes then write the dialogue. It's very effective but sometimes the emotions of certain characters are kinda hard to summise, being left only to the imagination of the reader.
Still, it's good. Keep it up.

i too enjoy your writing style, but perhaps that is because that is how i tend to write, mostly dialouge but enough info to let you know what is going on. i have enjoyed this a lot so far, however i think you might want to consider shortening some of mara's speeches or soliloquies because they tend to be redundant and too melodramatic, however this only occurs occasionally, and only with mara. i love the characters and the reasons for there names, my favorite part was when you wrote "just as your name means" when she got in a fight with the girl with the nasty underwear, you totally nailed the character with that, that is very hard to do even for published authors. i am a fan just try to keep the heavy dialouge of mara's down, it tends to make it sound a little too dawsons creek, geat work though. in fact it has inspired me to post some of my writing in the future, that is if anyone cares, this is your thread kitty, great work.:applaud:

Weeks passed and then December came. Snow started to lightly cover the houses around and on the high school as students, disappointed that school wasn't closed on account of a snow day.
Mara and Jed's relationship grew more as they passed through the halls, hand in hand at times. They were inseparable at breaks and after school, found kissing at the entrance of the school. Alexis was happy for the two, but not everyone else was. None of Jed's football player friends talked to him, but that didn't stop the preppy girls from trying to flirt with him.
Linda was usually the head of the pack, acting all seductive, trying whatever she could to separate the two. Jed and Mara didn't budge away. Because of this relationship all of Mara's accquatiances didn't even care to give a passing glance at her, looking away sharply as if there was something wrong with her. But neither Jed nor Mara cared. They were falling in love.
The last week of school in December passed by fast. Students became antsy about getting out of school for Christmas vacation. That gave teachers more of an excuse for them to pack them all with lots of homework as they left school on the last day. Sadly for Mara teachers disliked half of her classes and she was packed with the most homework.
Mara walked outside as the last bell rang, books in hand, as it started to snow lightly, the clouds overlapping each other making everything down below darker than it should be. Alexis walked up beside her as she heaved her backpack onto her shoulder. She looked at Mara, who was staring up at the sky and said...
Alexis: Mara...hey, Mara.
Mara: Oh...oh, yeah?
Alexis: Man, and I thought I had it bad for Christmas vacation.
Mara: Yeah, it looks like I'm going to be staying inside for the next few days doing these.
Mara lifted up her books from her hands slightly so they could be visible to Alexis' view. Alexis sighed in relief as she looked back at the school and said...
Alexis: Thank God it's over. For a short period of time though.
Mara: Yep. Hey Lexi, have you seen Jed anywhere around?
Alexis: No I haven't. I was actually surprised that I didn't find out two out here sticking each other's tongues down their throats yet.
Mara: (lightly punches Alexis in the shoulder) Oh shut up Lexi. We don't slobber over each other unlike some other couples.
Alexis: Yeah, whatever Mara, whatever. Hey, wait...(squints eyes and looks out ahead in the parking lot) isn't that Jed over there?
Mara: Where?
Alexis: Over they’re with a girl. (gasp) Oh that's Linda. She'll never give up will she?
Mara: Apparently not. Let's walk over.
Alexis: Alright then...
Mara and Alexis walked over to the light yellow Beetle where Jed and Linda were. She sighed with relief as she saw that Linda and Jed were talking casually to each other. Alexis and Mara started to walk away when suddenly Linda looked behind and saw Mara.
She winked at her and then pulled Jed in for a long kiss. Mara, upset, but at the same time not knowing what to do, walked away from Linda and Jed over to her car.
Jed pulled away from Linda and said to her...
Jed: What the hell did you do that for?
Linda: I'm sorry baby. I guess I didn't see your ex over there.
Jed: Ex, what are you talking about?
Linda: Well, haven't you heard? Mara wants to break up with you.
Jed: What? That's bull. Where'd you hear that?
Linda: I heard it from everyone. It was the talk of the school today.
Jed: Mara was fine this morning. She didn't show any hint of not being interested in me anymore...
Linda: I'm sorry baby to be the bearer of bad news but it's true.
Jed: Well……...I'll talk to you later.
Linda: All right then.
Jed walked back into the school, hands in his jean pockets. Linda gave a small, satisfied smile as she looked over at Mara in her car at the other end of the parking lot, upset as she pulled out of her parking spot.
Linda: He's going to be mine by the end of this year Mara, you watch.

Mara locked her door and moved her chair facing her window. She looked outside at the cloud-covered sky as she thought of what happened earlier. How could she do that? What a b****, probably did that because I was there. But then again...
Mara leaned back more on her chair as she looked outside. No, they can't be going behind my back. That'd be just wrong. Well, he is Mr. Jock, basically all of the girls at school swoon over him, it'd be typical for a guy his age with so many hormones going off to take into the 'good things in life'.
As Mara was about to get out of her chair, her cell phone rang. Digging in her backpack, Mara found it and looked at the caller id. It was Jed.
Mara: Should I answer or no? To be or not to be, that's the question.
She looked at the phone as it rang a dull tone. Having made up her mind terribly fast, Mara threw the cell phone down lightly on her bed. She got back to her chair and continued looking outside at this cloudy, isolating weather.
Mara: I hope it won't be like this for the whole Christmas Vacation.
*****
So night time fell on this quiet suburb town as the sun setted faintly behind the thick clouds. Mara settled in front of her computer, looking through her e-mail. Her cell phone then rang.
Mara: Hello?
Alexis: Hey there Mara, how are things? Did Jed call yet? What's up? Give me all of the scoop.
Mara: Things are okay. Jed did call. Nothing's really up and that's all of the scoop. Sorry to disappoint.
Alexis: Disappoint? He called you told me. So...
Mara: So...what?
Alexis: What happened? What did he say? Was he sorry and apologizes from the bottom of his heart?
Mara: I didn't answer the phone when he called.
Alexis: Oh...I see. Well, don't worry, he'll call again.
Mara: He did...three more times. I didn't feel like talking at the time.
Alexis: You think you might be hurting him a tad when your not answering your phone when he calls? I don't wanna see you two break up, you two are such a cute couple.
Mara: Yeah...you think so. About everyone else in the school is probably thinking of new ways to break us up, especially Linda. Seems that your alone on your one opinion.
Alexis: Well, Mara, whatever you do, talk to the guy. Communication is the key.
Mara: And seeing how you've been acting when it comes to Jed and I's relationship, butting in all the time, how about you lay off of it, alright?
Alexis: Sorry Mara...I didn't mean to upset you.
Mara: It's alright...it's alright. I've been in a bit of a pissy mood since the end of school and the start of break.
Alexis: Well you know what that means!
Mara: ...What?...
Alexis: We should go out, check out hot guys, go to the movies, etc, etc.
Mara: Sounds like a girls night out.
Alexis: Yeah it does, doesn't it?
Mara: Yeah...I'll go tonight. And by the way Lexi...lay off of the energy drinks, okay?
Alexis: Oh Mara, what a sense of humor you have.
Mara: I know...it was so funny that I forgot to laugh.
Alexis: ...Oh Mara, don't worry. Tonight will be fun. See you in a little bit. Goodbye.
Mara: Alright, bye...
Mara hung up on her cell phone and placed it once again on her bed. Turning off her computer she looked at herself in the mirror. Look at me, she thought to herself, I look horrible. I look like the living dead, well, that's an improvement.
Mara fixed herself up and headed out the door to hang out with Alexis. Little did she realize, this wasn't going to be her fun girls night out that she expected...

Mara and Alexis went to the local theater. They saw a lighthearted comedy, which seemed to take their minds away from the current situation between Mara and Jed.
They stepped out of the theater as snow started falling down gently from the soft white clouds that mostly covered the half moon shining on the town. Wonder what Jed is doing right now, Mara thought to herself as she walked around with Alexis in the mall. But her thought was answered.
Up ahead of them was Jed and Linda. Linda was clinging onto Jed's arm, while he looked slightly uncomfortable with her. When Mara saw this, she slipped into the nearest store. Alexis followed her inside. There Mara stood, her back against the wall, as she saw from the corner of her eye, the two of them pass by. Alexis put her hand on Mara's shoulder and said...
Alexis: Mara...I'm sorry.
Mara: Sorry for what? *pfft* Don't worry, I expected as much from him.
Alexis: Your not sad at all?
Mara: Of course not. He's Mr. Jock anyways, its expected of him to go out with every popular girl on campus.
With that said, Mara walked out of the store, Alexis close behind her. They hardly spoke to each other for the rest of the night. Alexis dropped Mara off at her house. Before she took off in her car, Alexis said...
Alexis: Mara, don't worry about the thing too much, alright? I'll see what's going on for you.
Mara: Hey Lexi...
Alexis: Yes?
Mara: Thanks.
Alexis smiled back at Mara and closed the window to her car. She drove down the street and turned out of it. Mara looked up at the sky, the clouds mostly covering up the sky except for a few stars. She put her arms around herself and closed her eyes, wondering why Jed did that, as she walked back inside to her house.
Mara woke up. Her eyes still closed, she tried to think of where she was. She heard beeping, and there were lots of lights. She opened her eyes to find herself in the hospital. Shocked, Mara stood up. She looked at her wrists and they were bandaged and stitched up from the deep cuts she gave them earlier.
My God...I'm not dead. Who stopped me? Who would stop me! There's nothing else in this life worth living for at all. I need to get out of here, Mara thought to herself. But then as soon as she thought that, her mother and father came in. For one minute they just sat/stood there, looking at one another as their eyes met. Then her mother, filled with tears in her eyes, ran over to Mara and gave her a hug. Her dad walked to the other side of Mara's bed and just looked at her, trying to hold back a couple of tears.
Mara's Mother: Oh Mara! Thank God! I was so worried! I'm so glad that I got home early yesterday! Thank God your alive!
Mara's Father: Why did you do that?
Mara's mother went out of her embrace with Mara and looked at her husband, wiping the tears from her eyes.
Mara's Father: Well...Why...did you do that? Don't EVER do that again, do you hear me young lady? Don't EVER do that again!
With that said, Mara's Father gave her a hug. Mara cried a little bit, suprised of how much her parents really loved her. Seeing that they never really payed attention to her in the past, they never really communicated so much. But now, she felt loved, and was a bit glad about it...

Christmas Eve. It was silent outside in the suburbs of the snow-covered houses. The clouds parted slightly as the quarter moon overlooked the city. It was quite a silent night.
A car drove over to the house painted in base colors. A tall, well-built boy or man got out and walked over. As the front porch light casted him out of the shadows, it was revealed to be Jed. He looked up at the house, wondering if Mara was alright.
For the past few days Mara hasn't been very talkative at all. Alex started to worry because Mara was like that back when she attempted suicide. So Jed thought that a little visit over at her house and a nice little gift for her would cheer her up..
Jed rang the doorbell. He waited just a few seconds before someone slightly opened the door. It was Mara. She took off her headphones and opened the door completely. They stood there in silence for a minute and then she said...
Mara: What do you want?
Jed: I wanted to see you.
Mara: Wow, thats beautiful bulls*** you just fed me there. I know you want to give me more but I'm already full from that helping, thank you..
Mara tries to close the door but Jed stops her. He looks at her, right in the eyes. Keeping eye contact for a few seconds, Mara broke away, mumbling to him...
Mara: Alright then...alright...where's this present of yours?
Jed smiled and took out something from his pocket.
Mara: Wow...a fuzzy little box...I've always wanted one of those...
Jed: Look inside. Open it.
Mara opened the box to find two beautiful garnet red earrings. Suprised, Mara looked up at Jed.
Mara: Alright, what's the catch?
Jed: What do you mean Mara?
Mara: I mean as in you gave me these nice, slightly expensive earrings. Now what do you want in return?
With that said, Jed gently pulled Mara in front of him and kissed her. It only lasted for half a minute. But when they finished, Mara put her hand to her mouth and looked to the side, trying to hide her blushing. Jed smiled and gave Mara a hug. As he was about to walk away from the front door, he said...
Jed: Merry Christmas Mara.
Mara: Yeah..Merry Christmas to you too..Jed..
Jed got into his car and drove away. As Mara closed the door and walked upstairs to her room, she thought about the kiss. Though they have only kissed a couple of times, especially in the mood Mara was in for most of Christmas vacation, she was pretty happy that he did that. For once, she really felt loved...

after re-reading my fanfiction a month or so ago i noticed that in little ways i wrote myself in kind of as the main character (Mara). not so much as in popularity, but in ways dealing with myself all together and dealing with suicide and such. i've dealt with friends and myself i can admit with it and it's a pretty scary thing most of the time..yeah..

Things seemed to go great for Mara by the end of her Christmas vacation. Things were back to normal with Jed. There seemed to be no trouble coming ahead of her in the next months to come. Besides, as soon as she knew it, she would be out of her school, with Jed near her..but as she lied in her bed the night before school restarted, she thought to herself, will he really?
The first week went by very slowly. The high school students sang their own songs of praises inside of their heads as the last bell rang that basically could just say that "it is officially the weekend now". As they chit-chatted amongst their friends and made their way out of the halls, Mara and Alexis did the same.
Alexis: So what has Jed been up to lately? You two seem to be talking to each other more than you two used to nowadays.
Mara: Well he's fine. You can ask him yourself if you want to, you don't have to ask me how he's feeling. I'm not him.
Alexis: (Giggles) Sorry Mara, it's just that it seems as if you two are joined at the hip, but I guess I was wrong.
Mara: Yeah..were not as bad as some of these other so-called couples that they manufacture at the high schools nowadays that cannot spend another waking moment without sticking each other's tongues down each other's throat.
Alexis: Geez..that would be great to be like them..
(Mara stares at Alexis and stops walking for a moment)
Alexis: I mean geez that would be horrible to be like them.
Mara: (With a straight face) Your a bad liar Alexis.
Mara and Alexis both laughed as they stood in front of Mara's locker. A little group of junior and sophomore girls looked at Mara as she seized her laughter. They all looked away and started to scatter in pairs, whispering amongst themselves, taking quick glances at Mara.
Alexis looked over at her friend Mara and asked..
Alexis: Mara, are you all right?
Mara: Yeah, I am. Wonder what's wrong with them. Probably the usually bs gossip that they just thrive on in this God forsaken school of ours.
Alexis: Heh..yeah, your probably right.
Mara turned back to her locker and opened it up. There inside was a white envelope, a letter of some sort inside that softly fell to the ground. Mara picked it up and opened it. She read the contents of the letter, an eyebrow raising slightly. She then went to a nearby trash can and threw the letter away.
Alexis hurried up beside her and asked..
Alexis: Mara..what was that letter of?
Mara: Linda's threatening me. Saying that her and Jed have always been together and will always be together. She says that she's going to make a couple of the football goons sick on me if I don't leave Jed alone.
Alexis: Mara..what are you going to do?
Mara: I think that it's childish for a girl her age to send me hate letters into my locker like that. I say that if she wants to really threaten me, she should've done it in my face. She can't intimidate me with those two mindless goons of hers to do her dirty work for her. Childish.
Mara closed her locker and zipped up her backpack. Alexis and Mara walked out of the school in silence and the letter wasn't mentioned again to each other and to Jed..not until near Valentine's Day that was..

Sadness...
The darkness consumes me...
No one to help me...
I cannot breathe...
I see red around and on me...
No more light...
No more love...
No more pain...
And so I close my eyes as I drift into an eternal sleep...
Love is dead.
The pain is long lasting.
Is there any hope left?
A tear trickles down my face.
What I thought was true was a lie.
Forever trapped in my own

I skimmed it and read the last paragraphs. Mara met Jed, a football player, not sure what the conflict is, she wants to kill herself, he buys her a prom ticket, they kiss, happy ending?

i choose the names for a reason..within the first couple of pages i have the definitions in there..besides, jed isn't suicidal, mara is.

Waldo: Power (basically for eric and waldo it means of how they are in social status at their high school)

kitty's always keeping us waiting. and for the record i suggest you dont listen to any of these recomendations/ideas for the story. you are clearly a very talented writer, the only comment i make is this: people typically grow out of there depression, that or die from it. trust me i have a lot experience in this area (you seem to as well, judging from your writing, that or you are just extremely inciteful) people typically just kinda grow out of it...if they make it through it.
